Colton Herta flipping the bird at 200 mph will never not be funny lmao
That yellow submarine looks very quick
Very.
too bad he is a knicks fan. used to like scotty lol
This is the best Indy 500 content you can find, great work!
“Nothings changed with the car for 15 years” - 8:42 - Yeesh Scott wants a different package yesterday
It's true. They are all 2012 Dallara chassis.
@@3338MAN he is predicting the future that we will still have it in another 3 . just with 1 spec engine ......
Not gonna lie, as a fellow Argentinian, I would love to see Canapino do well. Don’t wanna jinx him, but fingers crossed!
Also, I can attest Argentinian barbecues are amazing. Empanadas are very good as well.
Thank you for keeping us informed David !
He’s not that informed! Completed omitted Tony Stewart!
Really enjoyed the NASCAR participation package at Indy package. Thanks
I am so shocked Callum Ilott showed up right after winning in Endurance Racing. I was so proud of him and then to see him here. I wish I was up there to sign my hat! JUNCOS HOLLINGER is back too I'm so happy that they are doing so well. Im happy they gave Callum experience in the past.
Learning that Ken Schrader drove at Indy is very interesting.
Yes, surprised me as well!
The ken Schrader?
Yep, in 1984? I think
Tim Richmond also drove at Indy in the early 80's.
David, I loved the history of drivers that raced in Nascar then the Indy 500. Please do a segment on drivers that raced in Indycar, then the Daytona 500!
That would be a good video for February during the lead up to Daytona. Throw in another video for Indycar drivers that have competed at the 24hours of Daytona.
We need the ITS A KYLE LARSON VIDEOOOOOOOO intro back!!
4 time becomes 5 time. Just got a feeling. Had the same feeling on his 4th win.
Wouldn't that be amazing!
I do too and his odds are the same on my sports book. Stars aligning? Maybe I cleaned up last time. Would love to see it.
Thank you, David. Robin would be proud 👏 👏👏
Glad we finally got to have some action
Fantastic reporting and video, David. Thanks for all the insight.
Armstrong looks a lot like a young Scott Dixon
That purple microphone is iconic
Your doing a great job. Great research and keeping us informed
We need 3 weeks in the month on the oval to call it a month of May period
Would love to hear how not racing a super speedway and/or an oval pre-500 changes things this year
nascarman History has a good short video on Junior Johnson attempting to run Indy in 1963 in a car with a roll cage.
New Zealand is firmly in control of the speed charts so far! Now Marcus Armstrong just needs to step it up and put up a monster lap tomorrow!
You are the first person if ever heard use the word Metastazing in that way... impressive
Never realized that Penske allowed his NASCAR drivers to crossover back in the day.
Allison had some very uncomplimentary things to say about the crew on his Indy car effort with Penske. I was not expecting it from a team with their reputation.
Love your 500 coverage, DL! Makes it easy to keep up with all that is going on, especially during busy work days.
I'm also a big F1 fan, but my guaranteed excellent view on any weekend is when they're running is the F2 series. Almost always better than the F1 snoozer. Anyway, I'm really delighted to see recent F2 drivers like Marcus Armstrong, Christian Luundgard and Callum Ilott in the mix and running well in Indycar.
I can’t wait to see Indy
I think Larson finishes Top 5, especially if he has clean runs and no pit issues.
And if I'm being honest, I think if he runs well at practice Thursday he might be a contender for winning the race...
Which is absolutely absurd to think about, but the dude can DRIVE
No John Andretti, Tony Stewart, or Robby Gordon in the NASCAR crossover segment? Is that because they were open wheel drivers before they made the crossover to NASCAR?
Yes, I think so. Also Juan Montoya, Danica, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Janet Guthrie. I'm sure there are more. Connor Daly recently.
@@GrandpaShark many more, Ribbs, Rutherford, Hurtibise, Carter, Sneva, Johncock, Donahue, Sullivan, plus....
You have the best job.
The McLaren cars were making their way through traffic nicely
Scott Dixon’s comment about the 15 year old car does not reflect well on the series coming from a true legend. He was joking but much truth behind the joke.
Everybody has been wanting a new chassis for the past 5-6 years now. All the senior drivers, teams, and fans too!
I don't think they're going to spec a new chassis until they figure out their engine situation.
Sato with top no tow speed - dark horse alert .
No tow really doesn’t mean anything
@@Soggywafffles true . who would want to lead the race or do anything crazy like that
Um, qualifying?
Think Armstrong is a good driver but severely on the back foot by having no prior oval experience. I really think IndyCar should focus on having at least one oval race on the schedule prior to the 500
Armstrong will be ok, and it's not his driving ability that's the problem. With Angela Cullen with him now, he can work on the mental side but more importantly the physical side. He lacks the physicality and needs to put some muscle on that will help him drive an Indycar on the ovals. No power steering and way more stress on the neck muscles compared to his F2 days. It's very noticeable the influence Angela Cullen has already had on Armstrong, as last year he always seemed to doubt his abilities when being interviewed. He seems more confident in his abilities and his body language is far more positive this year compared to last year.
This is where I get my Indy 500 news !🗞️
Great report. Thank you from Tokyo.
It's May and those subs are creeeeping up to 100k!
I'm Interested to see what Kyle Larson does in the 500. Watching Qualifying for sure.
Santino has by far the most beautiful car. Sad to see him slow today
First day… quite down
Quiet
Agustin is certainly missing a good Asado and red wine from our vineyards
What about a segment that shows Indy Divers moving to Nascar... After the month of May, of course, you are busy... Really enjoy the channel...
Te amo Canapa!!! Lets go titan!
They effectively cut an hour of practice when Indiana went to daylight savings time. They should have looked at the sun and extended practice to 7 PM. That would get more interest in 'Happy Hour' again and more visitors on practice days, but what do I know? I do know that the track was open for practice on April 29 in 1973 so any shortage of practice time is not to be blamed on the weather man.
What about Tony Stewart and John Andretti ?
I think they both raced Indycar before they went to Nascar. We need David to do a segment on those drivers too. I can think of Juan Montoya, Danica Patrick, Robby Gordon, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti.
1:46 its only been 12 years. probably feels like 15 tho
Excited to be coming out for qualifying on Saturday with my wife and our little boys. Going to be our first Indycar event at IMS. Got any tips on where to watch from, or things to try and do while we are there for the day? (This question isnt just for David. I'd love to hear anyones advice. We've been there serveral times, just never when an event is happening.)
Rain expected Friday and Saturday. Sunday may be the only clear day with sun. Carb Day will have strong thunderstorms where some could be severe in the afternoon. Race day looks like morning showers then clearing with high winds WSW 12-16 MPH with gusts up to 30 to 35 MPH.
Impossible to predict the weather beyond this weekend.
Go Scottie and the yellow submarine
Why no mention of Jimmie Johnson winning rookie of the year 😂
David, what about Tony Stewart! He did the double twice.
David if you get a chance to speak to Agustin again, tell him about Che Chori, Argentine food on 16th street just bit East of the speedway haha.
I knew Donnie Allison and Cale Yarborough raced IndyCars but not Bobby Allison.
If you ever get a chance to show us how and where the timing is done. Please make a vid
I wonder what is the most laps run in a single day during practice? If tomorrow looks like the only clear day, it will be very busy.
what about John andretti robby gordon and Tony stewart all doing double duty and robby almost won once. Tony had the best double duty results. I mean dang it's 1100 miles in day in to completely different cars
What about John Andretti and Tony Stewart.
Beware of those Chevys...Be very aware.
Salve meu amigo que vamos passando no seu CANAL para fortalecer a nossa amizade.
David, why are indy 500 speeds slower in 2024? Why the 227+ speeds, and no 230's? Did Indy introduce less power requirements?
The past 4 (?) years engine boost has been reduced for practice and is only raised to qualifying level on Friday before Qualifying. Also the teams have not had the time on track to work on both a qualifying and a race setup. In the 'old' days they didn't start to work on a race day setup until the week after qualifying, another reason why second week qualifiers were in trouble on race day.
metastasize
(of a cancer) spread to other sites in the body by metastasis.
"his cancer had metastasized to the liver"
Tony Stewart?
Penske with newbies on each team…..
Penske to the top! With or without unapproved P2P changes? ;)
Why are the cars so easy to drive?
👽👽👽👽🌏👽👽👽👽
So you didn’t even mention tony Stewart who also did the double, or talk about Juan Pablo whom you know was Cart/Indycar/NASCAR back to Indycar. If you’re gonna talk about NASCAR/Indycar you could have at least mentioned it for newbies who aren’t privy to the history. You didn’t talk about Danika either.
I think the idea was highlighting drivers who made their name initially in NASCAR and would attempt the double/Indianapolis at some point thereafter.
@@daneamann6225 ok!!!! Tony Stewart
Hopefully they make up their own rules again so my guy Newgarden wins again!! If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying!!
Heck yeah. Let the crybabies cry some more!!
Of course Penske is at the top
Wow, ngl. For the bottom teams on the charts, it's going to be a BIG ask for them to figure something out in what's going to end up being 1 real day of Practice before Quali.
Honestly, this Indy 500 has been so anti-hype this year...Can't put my finger down on it, it could be the debacles of the last Red Flag 500's, last year's abject mess of an event, the whole IndyDerp L's and controversies distracting me, or just work being so much of a chore, but damn, I honestly have been having no hype going into this thing.
@@3338MAN 44 in a Row? Hot damn, I went to it 1 time and I had enough of that madhouse/shitshow. But yeah, could definitely understand the nostalgia deal, the only time I went there it felt like I got stuck in a time warp. And the atmosphere feels more like it's people just going there to have a "Woodstock" in the infield with a race that just so happens to be going on (which I don't know if that's what's supposed to be the idea there).
Those cheatin Penskes!
why no Tim Richmond bad research I guess
Richmond was an indycar driver first
As were Stewart,Robby Gordon, & John Andretti.
So how was that interview supposed to make me like Cannapino? Honestly, he’s completely unlikeable!
Like Dixie said nothing has changed in 15 years this will be my 38th indy 500 and maybe you can tell me what do I have to be excited about nothing 12 year old car cheap ass owners who said fuck innovation piss poor marketing of the product very little driver recognition just a bunch of new kids that won't be back next year no video game the list goes on and on
So what do I have to look forward to if it weren't for IMS this series is just a spec series run by tight ass owners and delivering a product that reflects just that
David stop babbling!
Go back to hot takes. Results, interviews, no one cares.
I care. So much for "no one" and your post's entire premise.
Scotty Mac giving the yellow sub some jandal! 🩴 🇳🇿🥝
