- Today Heather and I are framing in the upper section of the south wall of our Off Grid Post and Beam Building. Reaching out to nail these thick planks proved harder than I thought it would be..I should have built the scaffold closer to the building.

Hey Cecil: Once you have the first stud set, make yourself a couple of "spacer blocks" to use on that double plate so when you nail the next stud, it can't be pushed away from the layout line by the toe nails. I say "two" blocks so that you aren't depending upon only one stud as an anchor. The top is very unlikely to move since you are driving the nails against the rake of the roof.

Dear Cecil . You can cut the posts of your scafolding to the same level and screw or nail two by eight on top .You will have nice , safe step on proper level and nearer the wall of your building

Hi just something for you to loo, at. It could be the effect of the camera lens, but on the video the 8in post supporting the ridge looks like it is now bending over to the left. ie, towards the side that was adjusted. Please check that it is the camera. Good luck Mike

Screwing would be just as good if not better than nails the wood shrinks the screw isn't coming out !
Why don't you use a nail gun for toe Knelling you don't need those big Sparks, do you have a nail gun? If not I will mail you one
