This just saved me a repair bill. This has been d icing me crazy. The washer has gotten more and more apt to throw the 0E code to the point where it would no longer do the spin cycle, but would just sit there. Drained the washer, cleaned the filter, and it’s spinning up a storm now. Thanks!

Thank you so much for helping me to fix my washer. I for sure thought I was going to spend a few hundred dollars to have it repaired! I even followed LG's instructions to "fix" my issue and IT DIDN'T WORK! I'm so glad I found your video. Thanks again.

Wow. Thank you so much. It was the pump filter. It was full. Nothing came out of the drain hose though, thought I was safe, but luckily I still put a towel under for the pump filter. Read another comment on here and they mentioned a rug, which is most likely what happened to me. My new pup peed on the mat, I goto wash it and when finished it was shredded into pieces....rubber and fur. That had to be the cause. Thank you so much for this video, short and straight to it. These other you tubers would’ve made this into a 15 min video lol. Also thanx to the other comment I had read, sorry, didn’t get the name. Just added: Well, the problem didn’t completely fix. Idk if someone already mentioned this, but now I get the wet vac comment. I thought I was good to go, but the OE code came back. Come to find out the hole where the pump goes also became clogged. I used a long masonry bit to drag out all that fur material out. Once that happened, that’s when the water just started pouring out. Just used the washer again to wash and NOW it’s working. I waited till the end this time. 😄
Thank you Thank you Thank you........I was about to buy a new washer as a matter of fact I went to the store and was looking and pricing one but something said don't buy it. I sat down and started looking on you tube and there it was. You saved me hundreds of dollars and for that I am grateful. Thank you for sharing you just never know who you will help. Be Blessed!

THANK YOU SO SO MUCHHH 🙏🙏🙏 my hose kept pouring out water it was like Niagara Falls 😭. Filter was also full of gunk. You’re a life saver I hope you get everything you want in life you’re the coolest

THANK YOU!! I was able to drain the water per your instructions and found a filter totally clogged with dog hair! Machine is working again. Thank you so much.
Another happy customer. Thanks for the tip. The filter basket was completely blocked from a fabric label, a tiny wood fragment and calcified unused detergent congealing around these obstructions. Surprised how tedious it was to actually clean it up. But washer working again (knock on wood).

Thank you SO much!! My LG washing machine had the "OE" error message. Tried your steps which were super easy, and it absolutely, totally worked!! My pump filter was filthy and the drain pipe had loads of water in it (make sure to have that bucket ready, as Michael stated). Thanks again, you saved me further aggravation and lots of money.

I have the exact same washer. I ended up having to replace the drain motor. Your other video on how to take it apart to clean the drain tubes really helped. I figured out how to take out the motor and replace it myself.
Thanks for watching Don, that’s awesome. Well done making it a DIY project. Hopefully you can enjoy a stress free weekend. Let us know if you have any questions. 👍
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders Thanks. Turns out that replacing the motor was really easy. Just the two screws in front of the trap, and a plastic release latch below that in the back which is hard to see -- had to use my phone camera to see was was going on down behind there. Just had to press down on that to release the motor assembly. After that, just the three screws attaching the drain assembly from the motor, and the motor case. Here's the motor on Amazon that I got that is for our washer -- $30. www.amazon.com/dp/B00M25QM80?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

Thank you fixed mine right away, one thing though, make sure you clean the rubber washer off really good, and clean where it goes back into the washing machine, i made the mistake of cleaning it, but didn't think to clean where i pulled it out ,there was a little bit of grit that made it so that it didn't have a tight seal, next wash, water everywhere lol, now it's REALLY clean,

@DIYwithMichaelBorders the issue I am having is OE code. I have watched your videos, and they're very clear and helpful. The small drain tube is blocked on my frontloader and only a drop comes out. I have cleaned the filter. I have poured hot water back through the large drain hose and that is running clear now. Is there a way of cleaning this small draining tube?

Great video 👍🏾 but for people who havnt done this in awhile have too hand loads of towels, dont open the filter and pull it out straight away just turn it slow and allow the water tlo just seep out slowly and have a collection tray as theres going too be ALOT of water trust me! Have a bucket on hand too empty water into bucket! You will know when its safe too open and take filter out as water will slowly leak out! I know about the water rushing out as when my nan and grandad first got the washing machine i made this mistake 🤦🏽♀️ but right as rain when its empty

Don't skip the part about using the tube to drain first!!! And a bucket. If stuck or nothing comes out, squeeze the tube or put a pipe cleaner in it to unplug gunk... then it flows freely. You will need about a 2G bucket or plan on stopping and starting a couple times.

10year old LG front loader. Would not drain or spin, OE error code Can hear pump or some motor operating or trying to at least Opened large filter on bottom next to drain hose, found hair twisty inside but pretty clean otherwise Next, the small black drain hose was completely clogged, had a black gritty clog entire length of hose I tried to "squeeze" the clog, no luck...cut a coat hanger to about 2 feet long and straightened it out and attached to my cordless drill, very carefully and slowly "drilled" out the clog, lots of dirty gritty water drained out. Reset the washer and no luck. Unplugged the unit over night, came back this morning and drained again. This time could hear the normal sounds of the unit starting a wash cycle, no codes so far, have it running cycle with no clothes inside. Hoping its not a door lock issue that comes back with clothes in but we'll see. Lots of great advice on this site Thank you for the information Mike
Devin Thomas Thanks for watching Devin! We really appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us and share your experience. That’s awesome! A few things come to mind as we experienced similar behaviors from our washer. 1. It’s possible that your washer randomly detected an error code without realizing it. With these high-tech washing machines, those error codes are like check engine lights on your vehicle...sometimes your check engine light on your vehicle comes on and then goes away the next day.....however, in regards to your washer, it’s usually is an indication that your part related to that error code is beginning to wear out and the onboard computer has detected an intermittent operation with that part... which unfortunately means that part may fail soon...but its all good, we are here to help! 2. You mentioned the Door Lock Mechanism. That’s definitely a part that is tied to the OE Code. With that said, here’s what we recommend. When you turn washing machine on and begin a cycle, you should hear your door locking mechanism click within five seconds after pressing the play button for the cycle. If you do not hear it click this means that your locking mechanism has failed and must be replaced. Below is a link that shows you the step-by-step process of replacing that part! ua-cam.com/video/lAxy7gIvIqY/v-deo.html 3. It’s possible that your Drain Pump is beginning to fail and is currently working intermittently which caused the error code to be identified by the onboard computer. Here’s what we recommend. During the actual wash cycle we want you to listen to that drain pump as it operates. If the drain pump sounds really obnoxious and is making a very aggressive clicking noise, it’s possible that it’s wearing out fast & may only drain your tub a handful more times. If it failes, check out the video below as we run you through the steps for replacing your drain pump. ua-cam.com/video/M2LltDIjNl0/v-deo.html 4. Your drain Hose may be clogged. That’s an easy fix. Below is a link to a video that shows gaining access to Hose. ua-cam.com/video/eR4FIvUyUnw/v-deo.html Please keep us posted! Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your UA-cam notification Bell that would be awesome thanks again! 😎👍🔧🔩

Michael Borders you just save me lots of money with your video I really appreciate it you making this video , my filter was all clogged up with you name it lol can't blame my wife because had my stuff in there too lol the only thing was the black little hose to drain the water was all clogged up looks like dry soap or something so I had to drain the water where the filter is so you know the rest got a little flooded lol but got it fixed ...
Thanks for watching Frank, that’s great to hear you concurred your DIY project. Floods are no fun but it sounds like you managed it well. We removed our small black hose while replacing our drain pump and set the hose inside a bowl of really warm water. We let it sit in hot water for a few hours and believe it or not, it broke up the internal debris that was clogging it. Once the debris weakened in strength, we were able to remove it fully from hose, and when we installed the hose back onto the washer, it was 100% clean and clear. @@DIYwithMichaelBorders The washing machine is now restored to its former rude health. Since this is the first occurrence in 5 years of use, I probably won't need to repeat this process for a while. Of use, in particular, was how the video showed how to drain the washing machine of surplus water through the capped black tube to the left of the filter cover. Great work.

What happens if that black hose is clogged? That’s where I am right now… will that impact the draining as well? I did drain all the water through the filter, that was a mess. Wondering about the hose though.
@@daniellelight9703 Thanks for watching, it will not really degrade the draining efficiency at all however it’s important to have it clean and clear. This will ensure that the machine can be properly drained for service. 😎👍🧰
Thanks so much ! I twisted and pulled out the large round part and whoosh... I wasn't prepared for so much water - oops. It was clogged with a large amount of dog hair. Agh ! I'm washing a wool dog blanket with lots of hair on it (yes, I know... not the best idea). I pulled the hair out (it was completely full of hair) and struggled to get the large round part back in as it continued to swoosh out lots of water all over the floor, even though I had a large towel below it. So, others who may read this.... be better prepared for that than I was and / or possibly use the little drain hose first ? I was hoping I could just clear that filter out, but no - it releases tons of water through there. Anyway, the washer is now going again and sounds like it's draining properly. Thank you. Now, I also know to check that and clear things out of it from time to time !!

Thanks for the video! What if the drain line doesn’t drain properly? I tried doing this to my washer but all of the water only comes out of the pump filter and not the drain line. Do you have any tips?
Esmeralda Garcia Thanks for watching & most people will pull front panel off & gain access to drain pump. At this point, you can carefully remove hose & soak it in hot soapy water. This will help break up the dirt & grime inside that has clogged hose. Hope the video helped. How do you repair the little black drainage hose on the side that you pulled out. I used to pull it out and drain the excess water. Then one day it had disappeared into the hole out of reach. There is no longer a hose to pull out to drain the water. Thank you for any help.
Bernice Frankl Thanks for watching. Below is a link to our video that shows how you can gain access to that little hose. Thanks so much. I couldn't figure out why I kept getting the error code and was left with sopping wet clothes, no matter what I did to try to fix it (short of calling a repairman). I didn't get any water out when I tried to drain it with the little hose, but when I unscrewed the filter, a bunch of water GUSHED out. Yep. The filter was full of "stuff." ( I've had the washer for probably 10 years and didn't even know there was a filter there.) Hopefully that will fix it. Update: So far I've run 2 loads of clothes and it's working just fine. Thanks again.

My filter wasn't that dirty my problem was the little drain hose next to it was clogged with sand it like turn to cement. I blew the hose through with an air compressor. First I sucked as much water out of the drum and put a cookie sheet under the filter and had wet dry vac ready before opening the filter. I guess I could have just tried to blow it through with the water in it. It was a lot of trial and error. I bet my husband could have fixed it in 5 minutes but he was at work. oh well! Glad it's fixed. :)

My LG washer dryer combo model number WM3431HWD. The OE light was blinking and the machine would not drain water. This is the first time this has happened. I watched your video. I don’t know how to fix it but I am trying to figure it out because it looks different than your machine. It does not have a front cover that comes out I don’t believe. I took pictures of what I took apart. My drain is on the left lower side. Can you give me a way to contact you and maybe I could figure this out? Your video was very helpful but I have never fixed any appliance. This is new for me. Thank you.
Alwayslearning Thanks for watching & we appreciate you reaching out to us. Let’s get this figured out. Washers that don’t have the front access door will need to be accessed from the rear panel. By removing rear panel, you may be able to replace the Drain Pump. Another option...which isn’t always the recommended option due to safety purposes...is to shift washer on its side & gain access to Drain Pump from bottom...be extremely careful if you take that step as it’s a heavy unit & you may spill water. We really enjoy making these helpful videos for our fellow DIY’ers. 😀 Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for that reply but I have to tell you I’m a very lightweight woman and I have never fixed any electrical appliances? I thought because I watch a lot of UA-cam videos for other things, that perhaps I could do this but I’m really not sure. My drain tube doesn't drain. I had to drain it using the pump filter access. Drain tube clogged? Regardless, I have an OE code and I've already replaced the pump and pressure switch
Jason Ricci Thanks for watching & sharing your experience Jason, those little drain lines get pretty clogged up over the years You may need to drain all water & remove this hose & clear out the debris. The OE is tied to two things...Pump & Door Switch. Since you have already replaced Pump, you may need to replace your Switch. Below is a link to our step-by-step video that shows replacement of Switch. ua-cam.com/video/ew3NfgNKgyU/v-deo.html Keep us posted! @@DIYwithMichaelBorders Tuens out drain tube was clogged. Likely never been drained before. I've always just used the filter access, although water gets everywhere. So, I'm stuck. Still get the OE code as it's in the wash cycle. Makes a noise as if it's trying to spin, but can't because there is water left over. Again, new pump and pressure regulator. All plumbing seems clear. I'm quite stumped. Door switch SEEMS fine. It's actuates properly, as I hear it locking and unlocking. It's weird, I hear it trying to do something (electric motor sound), but nothing happens. As a result, the OE code appears after 10 mins of attempting to drain
Jason Ricci Thanks for the reply, you may need to perform an EMER Drain. This might help reset Washing Machine. Below is a link to our step-by-step video that shows EMER Drain. ua-cam.com/video/NDOGVtlUDss/v-deo.html After completing EMER Drain, we recommend unplugging machine for 30 minutes.
Be Blessed!

Motor works great... also used a sharpy to mark where the brown and black wires connected to the motor before I disconnected them.
My old motor's fan spun too freely, like it was detached from the motor mechanism itself. The new motor gives resistance when you try to turn the fan.
But I don't know what I would have done without your video. I wouldn't even have attempted it myself if it weren't for your video. THanks!

You may need to remove front panel to gain access to inner/opposite end of small hose. Carefully disconnect it and let it soak in hot water for awhile to loosen internal debris up. Keep us posted.

Have a bucket on hand too empty water into bucket! You will know when its safe too open and take filter out as water will slowly leak out! Don't skip the part about using the tube to drain first!!! And a bucket.
If stuck or nothing comes out, squeeze the tube or put a pipe cleaner in it to unplug gunk... then it flows freely. You will need about a 2G bucket or plan on stopping and starting a couple times.
Thank you for taking the time to help us all out! My washer is back in working order. Great video with clean instructions.

10year old LG front loader.
Would not drain or spin, OE error code
Can hear pump or some motor operating or trying to at least
Opened large filter on bottom next to drain hose, found hair twisty inside but pretty clean otherwise
Next, the small black drain hose was completely clogged, had a black gritty clog entire length of hose
I tried to "squeeze" the clog, no luck...cut a coat hanger to about 2 feet long and straightened it out and attached to my cordless drill, very carefully and slowly "drilled" out the clog, lots of dirty gritty water drained out.
Lots of great advice on this site
Thank you for the information Mike

Thanks for watching Devin!
Below is a link that shows you the step-by-step process of replacing that part!
ua-cam.com/video/lAxy7gIvIqY/v-deo.html
If it failes, check out the video below as we run you through the steps for replacing your drain pump.
ua-cam.com/video/M2LltDIjNl0/v-deo.html
4. Your drain Hose may be clogged. That’s an easy fix. Below is a link to a video that shows gaining access to Hose.

What happens if that black hose is clogged? That’s where I am right now… will that impact the draining as well? I did drain all the water through the filter, that was a mess. Wondering about the hose though.
@@daniellelight9703
Thanks for watching, it will not really degrade the draining efficiency at all however it’s important to have it clean and clear.
This will ensure that the machine can be properly drained for service.

Thanks for watching & most people will pull front panel off & gain access to drain pump.

I bet my husband could have fixed it in 5 minutes but he was at work. oh well! Thank you.

Thank you for that reply but I have to tell you I’m a very lightweight woman and I have never fixed any electrical appliances? I thought because I watch a lot of UA-cam videos for other things, that perhaps I could do this but I’m really not sure. How long will it take me to get the part and what if it’s not that part that’s causing the issue? Are you familiar with this model?

Thanks for the reply. The part might take 3-5 days to arrive.

Do you have to turn off the water valve to lg washer to use the hose?
Sean
Thanks for watching. Great question. You do not have to turn off water supply to washing machine to complete this friendly DIY project.

My drain tube doesn't drain. I had to drain it using the pump filter access. Drain tube clogged? Regardless, I have an OE code and I've already replaced the pump and pressure switch
Jason Ricci
Thanks for watching & sharing your experience Jason, those little drain lines get pretty clogged up over the years
You may need to drain all water & remove this hose & clear out the debris.
The OE is tied to two things...Pump & Door Switch. Since you have already replaced Pump, you may need to replace your Switch.
Below is a link to our step-by-step video that shows replacement of Switch.

Jason Ricci
Thanks for the reply, you may need to perform an EMER Drain. This might help reset Washing Machine. Below is a link to our step-by-step video that shows EMER Drain.

After completing EMER Drain, we recommend unplugging machine for 30 minutes. Both the EMER Drain & being unplugged will rest the machine.
Keep us posted, we are not giving up!
