Most ppl would laugh at the 250 Suzuki king quad but to me she is the ultimate 4x4 quad made yet. Way underated. Currently looking for one to restore. Tks for sharing
@Petro Pete They are very underrated wheelers. They can usually be picked up fairly cheap because of this.
Old Suzuki and Hondas last forever
All my 300 quadrunner does is pull a trailer with rocks and wood over almost anything. A great machine. It would be all you need for subsistence farming.
Quadrunner is a 250 Kingquad is 300 both look the same and are basically the same quad
Nice to see some actually showing what a machine is capable of in real world situations
Wow I was really surprised by that 250 pulling that much weight! I Hooked my 1987 trx 250x up to a double jetski trailer with jet skis on it. It was about 1400 pounds, the 250 pulled it not to bad actually. One thing I learned is you can never underestimate the old 250 power. Im really enjoying your videos. I can't wait for the snow trail rides. Keep posting
@Ride and Fun The gearing in super low is great for towing with that thing. I’m surprised you towed with your 250x!
We just got a few inches of snow today so most likely the next video will be a snow ride!
Perhaps the best Suzuki Quad ever made in my opinion. Basically the same design from 1986-2002. Four wheel Independent suspension, 15 speed 2 wheel drive OR 4 wheel drive. I own two of them and they're great little quads. I used them for 7 years to pull high school band equipment that was perhaps equal to or heavier than your demonstration. Awesome video!
Had a older Honda recon 250 that got more use than any of our other atvs. Pulled a 4x8 trailer around our property for picking up limbs and carrying weedeaters and such. Great for when extended family came over without worrying about someone on a bigger atv. Runs all day sipping fuel. No oil filter so oil changes were a breeze.
Do the diff lock mod to that and it make a world of difference. It takes about 40min. All you do is pull the pin out in your shifter mechanism. Then it will allow you to shift the shift levers with ease. And have it in diff lock in all gear ranges. Instead of just super low.
@Joe Rutkowsky That’s a great tip! The diff lock is awesome but would be even better if you had it in all gears.
This is time well spent. Living in the city yet from a small town, I need this ...am so appreciative!
Pulling close to a ton there! Right, you don't need much more quad than that. Enjoying your videos!
It’s a very capable little machine. And Thanks!
I had a 92 2wd. And for what it is, that little thing got up and moves. My father is still using it today.
Love these older, simple smaller atvs. Had a Recon 250 for years that I plowed snow with. Now I have a Brute Force 300 that plows snow and even belt drive in LO it moves my car trailer around the yard just fine.
Another great video
I currently own a Suzuki king quad 300 4x4 With really good mud tires and it surprises me every time I ride in all terrains! My little Suzuki has gone everywhere my brother in laws new kodiak 700 has gone so far, and I am almost not sure I would buy a bigger machine even though I have always wanted to buy a 500 polaris sportsman!
@Andrew Insinga Thanks! I bet your kingquad 300 goes really good seeings how it’s about the same as this 250 with a little extra power under it.
The Sportsman 500’s are very nice machines also. If you trail ride a lot the sportsman’s suspension i awesome, very comfortable ride.
Awesome machine. Miss mine. Would always catch and pass the big guys when the trails got rough.
Be a great little quad for plowing snow !!
Probably one of best work atvs ever built that and it’s big brother the 300 pretty much unstoppable in super low I used to haul full pickup loads of green firewood with one I had
@440x It’s amazing what you can do with that super low range and the differential lock!
A friend has one that he uses in hill country. It's an amazing machine. Suzuki built an excellent transmission.
@Andyloe Brown The are excellent for climbing being so low to the ground and yes, they did build an excellent transmission. It really makes this little 250 able to do pretty much anything. Usually with a 250 or similar size, they either are low geared and you don't have much speed or they are to high geared for any serious work...
I was curious of how one like this would do with two people and some camping gear. never had one. Thank you although this one seems to have more power features than normal though. Cool vid thank you again.
i just bought one of these for a hunting and working purpose .its definitely a good machine compard to other 250 ive drove
@Mark.v These little quadrunners are great for working with all the gear selections they have.
Love these little 250's! Always wanted and still do want one of these or the Kingquad 300 earlier models with the diff lock. These things are insanely cool I hope this one serves you well
@Cinderator EDU It’s a handy little machine and for the price of these i would recommended one!
@@rockspowersports Can't find one at a decent price near me, they're like $4500 near me, (I'm in canada) and a good condition one is more expensive, one will pop up eventually but hasn't yet
Another great video !! 👍👍
Thanks!
My Ozark tows pretty dang good also. It's the cousin to this quad with a newer body style. The thing is a little beast
Another great test/experiment 😜! That old suzuki has me so impressed with the feature set it has for its age and engine size. Closest I've had to that is a '92 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 2x4 and an '02 Beartracker. They don't have quite that low of gears but still very surprisingly capable machines for their engine size. Mine pulled one of those Kara and 5x8 trailers and a '98 Big Bear 4x4 pretty well. It even had 25" tires on it. I really like the old semimanual transmissions. Wish they were available on newer bigger quads today.
@FlawleZ31 Thanks! I have had one of those beartrackers too and I also installed 25” tires on it. It was a fun machine but it’s a very short narrow atv and with the 25’s it was just too unstable..
You can still get Honda atvs with the foot shift, I’m not sure of any other brands that still do it for utility atvs..
@@rockspowersports I had aftermarket wheels (ITP steelies) with a a little wider stance which helped out considerably on stability. Wasn't tippy feeling at all. Now I do have a 250 Bruin currently that's very similar and with just 24s doesn't feel nearly as stable. I'm going to add 1" spacers to the corners which should help out.
@@FlawleZ31 I gotcha! And yes those spacer should help out a lot! Is that bruin 250 automatic? Or is is pretty much the same motor as the bear tracker? The only bruin I had was a 350 which was auto.
@@rockspowersports It's a semi manual. Same 250cc (really 230) as Timberwolf and Beartracker. But all 3 of those quads do surprisingly well with that engine partly because they're very light. Around 400lbs.
@FlawleZ31 Gotcha! Those are fun little wheelers!
Sure miss my ‘87, great little workhorse.
I had a 300 king quad (same atv with an extra 30 ccs for a total of 280). Thanks to the diff lock and three speed sub transmission, it could drag a 450 Honda Foreman around on a chain and also run away from it in a top speed race.
@ih302 They’re pretty incredible little wheelers, I was very impressed with it when I started pulling. My neighbor has the kinguad 300 just like you had.
My Polaris 500HO gets used for cutting firewood, I pull a 4x6ft trailer and load about a third of a cord green wood and it pulls nicely in low gear of course.
@Timber Ray Those Sportsman 500’s are good machines for pulling with the extra weight and the all wheel drive!
I'd still buy it! I'm dying for a suzuki king quad!👍👍
The King quad’s are great machines.z
i have a arctic of a similar year to the one your dragging but it’s a 250 and they used the same engine as in the quad runner so my arctic cat 250 has a suzuki engine which is pretty fast for the engine size
Nice little machine! I used to have a Kawasaki Bayou 250 and that unit was a tank. Would love to see you test drive a Kawasaki Bayou on your channel.
@608 DIESEL Thanks, for a 250 this thing is a tank. I’ve never owned a Kawasaki bayou before.. However my brother just picked up a 02 Kawasaki Bayou 220 that he’s in the middle of fixing. Once he gets that done I told him to bring it over and I’ll do a test drive on it.
I used a 90's king quad 300 to pull logs down off a mountain in Wyoming. Little thing did awesome. Not sure of the difference between a quad runner and a kind quad
man I have the 2000 arctic cat (basically a kingquad 500) and that thing is badass
Nice! I have a couple older cats I need to fix up.
Cool video, tows fairly decent. My baseline tow test is an empty hay wagon up hills around the farm. Some machines don't have the traction to do it. Then the next is down hills. Most don't have the weight or stopping power to hold them back. Like I said polaris sportsman were always the best. Is that an old new Holland 56 rollbar rake in the field?
@Motofarm mx The super low gearing works great for towing. I wouldn’t want to try to stop anything down a hill with it though, it’s not heavy enough.
It’s an old Allis-charmers model 77 rake.
I agree. Paint looked backwards for new Holland but looked similar.
My 89 Yamaha 250 moto 4 is about the same. It's all in the gearing. Good machine but a little more power would be nice and 4x4! Maybe 350 ? I still have to see how it will pull a deer out of the bush. Hopefully soon .....
@Mark Bow The 350 moto 4’s or big bears are nice machines but I’m sure your 250 will pull that buck out of the woods! Good luck by the way!
I have the same one it is a tank
I have this machine and the best thing I ever did to it was remove the safety lockout for the diff lock Mid range is the best for diff lock position when you get stuck
Yeah that safety lock out is a pain only being able to be in low with the diff locked.
@@rockspowersports you just need to pull off the plastic cover ontop of the tank and there is a pin that slides between the range and 4x4 levers take the pin out Super handy to be able to use mid and high range with diff lock just don't try turning at high speed you will just go straight
Thanks for the tip, i did end up selling mine but you never know, I’ll probably have another one someday.
The greatest mathematician in Ancient history, Archimedes once said
“Give me a lever and a place to stand and I will move the earth” in describing principles of lever and fulcrum.
A modern day equivalent on the farm might be , “give me a Suzuki with enough low ranges and I shall pull a mountain” haha
what is the best made atv now?
Arkansas Wavin
Put some weight on the front rack and it'll do much more than that! Nice video!
@Eric Paquette It’s a pretty impressive little machine! Thanks
i just wanna ask what were the 2 quads on the back
A Polaris sportsman 600 and an Arctic cat bearcat 454
Love them old Suzukis! Like all the shifting options you have. The huge tires on back & small on front is kind of annoying though. What was the electrical issues with it or is this another you picked up?
@KyletheFryan This is the same machine, the problem was the voltage regulator. When I tested to see the running voltage at the battery I was getting 18volts which is way to much. Should be running around 13-14volts. Swapped out the regulator and all is good now, cheap easy fix.
@@rockspowersports ok, thanks for replying. I'll let my son know. Don't think he replaced that.
@@kylethefryan1111 No problem. I’d have him check the voltage at the battery when it’s running. If the voltage spikes when you rev it up I would start with the regulator. It could also be the stator but the regulator is much easier to replace so I would start there.
@@rockspowersports thanks for the info. I will pass it on to him
At 7:00, he pulls a log thru the woods - I'm from Arkansas and that's a quick way to get thrown off your wheeler when you stag a tree pulling a 10 foot log. Use a rope that will break or just use your brain a bit more. Just my 2 cents from the woods.
¨Little 10-12 FT cedar log" THATS DOUBLE MY HIGHT
Haha right!
The little 250 does good.
I have a Polaris 500, I never understood the need for a 1000 . I can spin all 4 with a heavy trailer with lots of tongue weight.
@Tim Heyboer I hear ya.. A 1000cc atv is really not needed but when you press that throttle it sure does put a grin on your face!
Have you had a chance to try out that little jump starter yet?
@@rockspowersports The jump pack looks sweet, but I haven't had the chance to put it to the test yet. Thanks.
I know how my little 500 feels, I can't imagine what a 1000 feels like.
One thing I miss about my 200 3 wheeler is how easy it was to lift when I got it stuck.
@@timheyboer4786 Gotcha! And the 500’s are no slouches by any means..
I love my Yamaha tri moto 200, it’s a blast to drive around.
Great little machines. How do you like that 454 artic cat?
@BRIAN Gabriel The 454 is also a tank. That one has a 5 speed with a high and low range selector also. It’s got a lot of low end power. I wished you could take it out of 4x4 though It’s full time 4x4.
@@rockspowersports ya that can get hard on the arms wit no eps
@@briangabriel4165 For sure! Im not sure if you see it or not but I did a video on the 454 towing a equipment trailer vs my diesel ATV. The cat was pretty impressive!
@@rockspowersports I'll look it up
@BRIAN Gabriel Here it is
ua-cam.com/video/ky95gSml8Lc/v-deo.html
Why have super low if you don't use it. Yeah I was probably a little heavy but that's what they were meant for.
Super low is very slow and very short gears. which is fine if you if you have a heavy load and are in flat ground.. however when your on a hill or slippery terrain you want to get as much wheel speed as possible. That’s why I rather use low than super low if possible.
Everyone thinks they need a thousand cc motor I have an old two-wheel drive Honda 200 and I've pulled cars out with it stuck in
I want this atv its on sale?
This one has been sold already.
You're going to wear out your tow strap ...
@WhoDaBoss1302 I know i know, I couldn’t find my choker the other day when I did this video…
Question for you my wheeler 2000 arctic cat 500 the hi/lo range knob on the left side of the motor is so hard to move any way to fix that you really have to hit it with a hammer almost to get it to go into low range or just about break your arm off to get it to move
@Arcticcatic802 I’m not positive, my arctic cat 454 moves pretty easy. Is it hard to pull the knob up or is it hard to actually go back and forth?
