- Last Wednesday, April 27 (2022), the saxophonist and composer Chris Potter gave a masterclass at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.
All of us who were there learned a great deal about different aspects of jazz, and from many of the master's points of view.
Today I leave you with a home video taken on a smartphone by a friend named Prithivi Nakarmi 🙏 thanks to you dude!!!
Enjoy this moment that for me was a dream come true.
Once again thank you Chris Potter and the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp for the Great Time!
Sax: Chris Potter
Bass: Toon Rumens
Piano: Marco Marcelletti (Marcus Marks)
Drums: Damián Alvarez Castro ( dacdrummer)

Oh my lord. How does he just keep getting better? This is some of his best playing I've heard. His sound is unbelievable on this.
I was thinking the same thing!
😀
Thinking the same too. Very very small help of the large hall acoustic reverb.
@fratavc5305 it's such a good feeling to play in perfect acoustics and this is. Chris Potter sounds phenomenal. He could probably take 80 choruses and keep you engaged with fresh material each one.
Man fr
He always makes the most complicated things look like a piece of cake. A true genius.
completely agree with you
So true !
Ripping: none better!!🎷
The band is in such awe of Chris, they missed their que lol. I would have done that same thing !
Just love how he outlines the harmonies so beautiful and playful. Must be incredibly inspiring for the youngsters to play with a master like Chris 👏🏼😀
It was a very inspiring experience, I can assure you.
I live and breathe for that lick at 8:44
wait what. Jesus the very first little improv Chris does is like: technically insane and artistically brilliant.
Chris Potter is pure magic.
Man Chris can swing so hard
Listen man i dont know shit about music but this shit beautiful af
I understand what you mean. the energy that Chris Potter transmits is incredible.
I have seen Chris Potter live 3 times, 2 in concert and 1 master class, the latter was by far the most impressive and enjoyable experience. Christ Potter should take note of this, people just him to just shred jazz standards all night.
OMG, can't belive it's you!!! I'm a huge fan of Hugo-my favourite SSG by far. Keep up the good work!
My hometown 😮😮 I didn’t know 😢
Besides a few classical violinists. I don't know if anybody today is a true MASTER of their instrument the way Chris is.
Joshua Redman , Eric Alexander & James Carter are all true masters of their saxophones as well. These gentlemen, along with Chris Potter, are elite jazz saxophonists.🎷
Pat Metheny
Marc-Andre Hamelin on the piano.
@@lj3musicjulien855 Eric Alexander doesn't deserve to be in the same conversation as people like Chris and Josh, give me a break.
Thanks to Prithivi Nakarmi to make this beautiful video 🙏🙏
Dazzling!
lol only the pianist managed to catch the start, everyone was too busy enjoying the music
😅
Starting to feel he's in the same league as the masters and carrying the torch after Brecker
I feel like CP been in that league for a minute. He’s always been a monster.
Sounds great 😎✨✨✨
Can't wait to see Chris in NYC...they canceled his Vanguard performances because of COVID. :(
Excelente referência.
so fresh!
Incrível
Awesome!
What!!!!!! Ok Damian I'm officially jealous! Cheers from your Groove De Gente brother ; )
Love u man, I hoop that you are fine over there 🙏
Just amazing
Chris Potter is the greatest living jazz musician.
The way Coltrane was.
SYMPLY S P E C T A C U L A R, I TAKE OFF MY HAT.......A STRONG APPLAUSE
As a laymen asking this - how does he stack up to 2saxy?
They are in completely different universes
They are performers, Chris is a musician.
Chris is lightyears ahead in regards to harmonic and rhythmic mastery/variety, technical prowess as well as the art of negotiating with the rhythm section as a soloist.
I mean no disrespect to the artists you mentioned, but any listener in search of the above mentioned qualities will not find them there.
I'd be a better musician if my name were Toon.
Sorry, but what do you mean?
Probably because of Toon sounds like Tone. E.g. having a good tone or something.
He is genius but i need to hear things more melodic.
If you don't hear melodies in his playing, then YOU need a new pair of ears.....
This is extremely harmonically melodious
What qualifies as melody to you? Nursery rhymes? Rachmaninoff wrote beautiful, haunting melodies that probably don't remotely fit your perception of melody.
