During lockdowns, I watched and read heartbreaking stories and videos of 'Canadians' informing on their neighbors. 'Canadian' police peering into homes either through windows or with night vision to violently arresting families that gathered to mark a death or quietly celebrate a birthday and not one 'Canadian' leader, politician or authority have expressed any shame or misgiving for what they did.
At least we decent few are forewarned, know what's coming down the pipe and can make decisions accordingly. God bless

I grew up in Lancashire, before central heating and had a coal fire and an eiderdown on my bed. Even smokeless coal.
As a child. I had the job of cleaning the grate of the fire. And we even had an outside toilet. Kids of today are oblivious of such things. And I'm only in my 50's.
I'm from East London. We had the same. It was my job to bring in the coal at 7yo. I dislocated both thumbs when I slipped in the dark.

I was in hospital then care home for 7 straight months during lockdown. It was heart wrenching seeing vulnerable elderly confused wondering why family didn't visit, thinking they'd been abandoned especially in the care home. Heartbreaking to live through.
In Canada, we had a decrease in nursing home mortality in 2020 compared to previous years. There were nursing homes in Quebec they tried to say had beer bug outbreaks and that people were dying. It turned out the staff were scared off by the horror of the terrible virus and left seniors to sit for three days in their own filth, some without food. Disgusting. In England, admission for seniors to hospital required the signing of DNRs in 2020. Then, anyone near death who was a senior, they gave them some nice sleepy drugs, and they went away...forever. Never forgive them.

@@CarrieOnScreaming64 I'm in the same situation if I was younger I'd rent an allotment. People say they grow veg in large garden pots in flats .plus stop buying from big firms keep local businesses going as long as possible. Look into other ideas so we can be more self sufficient.
Most of us pensioners who grew up in the 50s and 60s did not have central heating, double glazing or electric blankets. We know how to make cheap, wholesome meals and live frugally if necessary. We’re proud of the good life we have lived and won’t be intimidated by woke socialism. It’s just a phase. Thank you for speaking so eloquently and enlightening us. That’s the good side of technology.
People are still getting there winter fuel payments ! It's just means tested. People with a good pension do not need the winter fuel payments and in fact some don't even need the state pension really, but to now class it as a benefit is wrong. After all NI is taken out towards their pension and the NHS. They are therefore entitled to a state pension.

i was in Hospital All day today observing everyone, and all people in there had their head down in to their phone, even what normally would be loving couples was sat apart ignoring each other, No Speaking, Just heads in Phones. my phone stayed in my pocket, i just sat all day quietly watching everyone. and that is what i saw
it is important to stop depending on the government for your well-being. too many say "the government should do something about that". we win when we stop expanding government. we don't realize how ingrained that mindset has become.

We didn’t know it at the time but my Dad was in the last months of his life during early to mid 2020. The lockdown rules were never going to stop me visiting him on a daily basis to make sure he was ok. I will always make my own decisions on what to believe and what not to believe when it comes to politicians.
My Dad had terminal pancreatic cancer at that time. They stole our remaining time together from us with their lies, I couldn't take him anywhere to cheer him up, I had to sneak round to his house like a burglar just to see him. I'll never forgive or forget what they did to us. Pure evil.

I find myself in that situation all the time. Dog walkers staring at phones not watching their dogs, mother's pushing/walking with their kids not watching them, drivers staring down at their laps or holding phones on steering wheels; the list goes on.
I experience this every time i travel on public transport.
One of the things I find most depressing is sitting in a restaurant and seeing a family where both the kids and the parents have their heads buried in their smart phones. I want to give them a shake "Put your bloody phones down and talk to each other". Maybe one of these days I'll do that!

Neil, like you I only now accept what I observe around me, not what I read anywhere. When I express this as rationale for my lack of fear of either Covid or the so called "climate crisis", my friends invariably pull up some garbage web site on their phones to contradict me.
A guy in a cafe spoke to me recently as he complained about immigrants ruining his way of life. I asked him how many “immigrants” he knew and lived in his area. He didn’t know or live near any.

I can't thank you enough for your conversations.I so agree about tech separating families I am 75 and yes I have my smart phone I hate it but use it because I am told I should.Some of my closest family just contact me mainly by text calls now and again
I wanted to say about government and the covid mental battering.I have a daughter who is wonderful she has learning disabilities and lives in a well run home.This woman child who is now 47 used to sobb down the phone to me Mummy have I been naughty because her home was in isolation and locked down.Many months later we took her for a picnic without thinking I went to hug her she pushed me away.
Even she had been told and worked on with the rules.
As a person born in 1949 all my life was brought up to believe government and my betters as my parents would say had the answers.
I will never blindly accept such clap trap again.Thank you for speaking out.
Most if not all new homes do not have a fireplace and chimney, and eventually there will be no gas only Electricity of which will become way too expensive.
With the utmost respect, what they have planned for us, it doesn't matter if we have a fireplace, they're after that too . According to a billboard I saw last week in Hampshire, burning wood is harmful for you and the environment. Slow creep , slow conditioning for the masses.

Based on personal experience, you'll probably get over it. My response was to spend more time in nature, be more appreciative of the decent people in my life and leave a few printed copies of the Serenity Prayer in strategic places. A sense of despair is an objective of the humiliations we are subject to. Personally, I'm too blooded minded to let the demons (metaphorical or literal) have their way
Time in nature. Go for long walks. Study the life of birds, learn about herbalism and geology. Read the great books.
I’m rereading War and Peace and a book called Give War and Peace a Chance:Tolstoyan Wisdom For Troubled Times ( Andrew Kaufman).
Find others in real life who are doing such things.
In the years after 9/11 when some people started waking up to the lies, we would find each other in my area by wearing a blue scarf- “open to conversation about truth”.
Now where I live, most are in the v x d mode. I don’t know where I would find the awake.

In foster care i saw my mum once a year if that. When i visit i had to be in a leisure centre type setting with 3 social workers just to see my sister and brothers and her. This was all through 90s.

Do you not have cast iron stoves in the UK? My Mennonite grandparents in Northern Ohio kept their home warm all Winter with a single cast iron stove in their living room. They didn't burn wood in it; they tightly bound rolled newspaper and bundles of cardboard from boxes in twine, which burned slowly through the night. Kept them independent and saved $$.
New houses aren't allowed to have chimneys now.

I also went along with everything that was asked of us as I thought we should all do our bit, having worked for HM Gov for over 39 years and with many family members in the NHS I had no reason to doubt they were just trying to do their best. This is why I am now seething with rage about the exrent of the evil & corruption, the lies and the theft of our money and rights... I have been turned 180°.
When folks start using guilt and emotion to justify their arguments, a massive red flag should raise as a warning that one is being lied to!
In 2020, I started my own little war against the narrative, using their own shaming language and tactics against them. The difference is that I had the "science" on my side.
During lockdown my daughter went through horrific cancer surgery then chemo I couldn’t visit her not even when she went home just leaving cooked meals at her driveway it was not enough.
