If ever a band deserved to be called 'Sensational' the S.A.H.B. is it! I still listen to the albums I bought in the 70s and they still sound brilliant.
Zal. My god... What a "sensational" guitarist. His solo on songs like Vambo (SAHB) are brilliant and exciting! Guitarists lucky enough to hear him are always impressed and marvel at his accuracy, bending power and lovely vibrato. He's got it all.
Someone asked me recently "Your favourite band ever"? Simple SAHB I now have about a dozen 20 year old know nothings listening to my old vinyl of the band. RESULT
I agree with previous posts about Zal being unique as guitar player. billy Rankin recorded an album in US long time ago and flied Zal in for a short guitar solo on a song and the recording ppl could not understand why that was necessary.....They thought Billy mighy as well put down a solo.....But after Zal stepped in and made his solo....Jaws were dripping.....and they got a new perspective about guitar solos.....Really miss Zal in the music business.....
Well shit in a bag and punch it!. If that wasn’t THE definition of ‘face melting guitar solo’ then I give up. I grew up with SAHB music blasting through my brother’s bedroom wall constantly and I loved everything I heard. I was hooked. I was 5. I was f*cking terrified by the string section when they played ‘Next’ on the OGWT but I will love them forever. This solo has all the elements of classic Zal. The piercing yet warm tone, squealing string bends and his unmistakable vibrato. For me personally the thing that really puts the tin hat on it is his choice of notes. When you hear all the above combined you KNOW who you’re listening to. Zal sounds like nobody else. Nobody else sounds like Zal. We love you Zal, long may you reign! xx SAHB rools!.
Zal EFFIN' Cleminson is in a class all of his own. NOBODY comes even close----Zal is the baddest of all baddass guitarslingers, and his loss from the concert stage leaves a huge void.
jesus christ, its amazing how much he influenced Steve Clarks playing! I'd never heard of Zal Cleminson before just reading on Steve's Memorial Website that his second greatest influence behind J.P was Cleminson. Glad I checked him out- this guy is completely under rated!
Have watched a lot of videos of guitar players that are older and compared the sound of vintage gear vs newer stuff and always prefer the sound of the vintage stuff to the newer. Not a judgement on his playing ability though. Still a good player.
D Lay I know Billy he is an outstanding musician , I have seen the jaw dropping solos first hand at recent rehearsals with Zal’s new band Zal Cleminsons Sin’dogs not a better guitarist in the world.
Yeah True pal and after Sin Dogs Coomes The Orphans of the ash... Had a chat With Zal.... Love that man..... And new singer Matt Black.... Hard hitting songs... ZAL IS BACK and better than most!
The Mafia stole your guitars.... Santo Trafficante Jr was the boss in Miami back then. It may have been Tull cos I heard you guys blew them off stage.Peace my friend
Saw you a number of times in the 70s - and at the Torrington, North Finchley, my first gig ever - still at school, and had a beer with you lads at the end lol - well underage haha
Remember zal when he and the rest of the group rented a house in north London a few doors away from me (Inderwick road n8 )in the early seventies and called at their house and spoke to Chris Glenn .Often saw the whole group coming down the road in a huge open top American car ....
I agree, but Max is so good that I accepted him...and so would Alex. However, SAHB without Zal is wrong...completely wrong-and I couldn't watch them without him.
He’s a beast, his passion and showmanship is outstanding. Zal you’re a rock god!
One of the greatest guitar players ever, Zal plays with such feeling and his string bends say it all SOUL!
