Zal Cleminson ranks right up there with guitarists like Glen Buxton, Mick Box, and Neil Young, who knew how to wring so much emotion out of so few notes played!
Pure Alex Harvey theatre. Definitely one of the very best live acts around at the time and musicianship to back it all up. Damn I miss those days now. RIP dear Alex Harvey.
There were only two brilliant pub acts in the seventies. One was Dr Feelgood and the other was SAHB. I was so mesmerised after an Alex Harvey concert that I had to go see him the following night. No live act has ever matched the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. He was out of this world.
I've met Alex junior on a few occasions in Glasgow in the last few years. He is a gem but a lost soul. Still struggling with losing dad 40 plus years ago. Lots of luv to all the sahb family. X
I just discovered this band yesterday! Where the Hell have I been? I'm completely thrown for a loop at the expertise of Zal plus his stage presence. What a Band...all of them and Alex is pure genius!
Quite possibly the most one of a kind artist of all time. Alex was 100% Alex. Nothing like him before or since....and what a top notch quartet of musicians. Lastly, what's more sinister than a unhinged mime lead guitarist?
I was listening to an interview with a rock & roll columnist for one of the New York papers, he said he's seen every great band on the plant. He went on to say that of the 10 best concerts he ever saw, 3 of those shows were from the band Chicago. Check out there Tangle wood performance, just amazing jam sessions.
First saw them in March 1973 when nobody- at least out in the sticks-knew much about them . The stage was done up like an Edwardian parlour and Alex came on dressed up in a posh person’s smoking jacket and other era props and everyone thought what the heck is this, and then they started playing and oh my gosh it was a mind blowing moment and they were absolutely amazing and blew the crowd away and they were the support group. Once seen never forgotten.

You don't get bands like this anymore. Floyd, Zeppelin, Metallica, Rush, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, The Eagles, ELO, Queen, Slayer, Yes, Steely Dan, David Bowie, Megadeth. Great music.
They were actually really popular in some areas in the USA. Allentown ,Erie & Reading PA . Cleveland & Cincinnatti Ohio. Many of the smaller markets in the midwest & south. They did it the old fashioned way. They played everywhere in the US not just the major cities. They used to be on multiple band bills as a 2nd or 3rd place band. In the smaller cities they became headliners. I've seen SAHB blow away many top billed bands like Alice Cooper & Black Sabbath. The major city radio stations never really gave them their due. Audiences loved them!
