I'll add that the squadron who flew this sortie out of Langley AFB was the same squadron Frank Luke was assigned too, the 27th FS. The oldest active squadron.
The first kills for the world's premier air-superiority platform are near stationary targets visible for miles. Almost like admitting your first real kiss was your sister.
That we know about. My guess is that there have been other (and possibly many other) air victories performed by the F22. There is so much secrecy surrounding the program and the fighter’s employment, coupled with a frankly obnoxious level of over-classification by the uniformed services over the last 30 years that I strongly suspect that we will never know what happened in this plane’s history.

Thank you!! This is great.

What lurks in the shadows will likely remain there for many decades until declassification.
Those F22's were operating at the edge of their altitude range, so if that is kissing your sister it was one hell of a kiss.
