imagine releasing a game that doesn't even have textures and expecting people to stick around until its a finished polished product a few years down the line
@@Philitron128 I just hope that they bring back held block shields. Im too stupid to keep up with the turbo accel- rainbow drag bullshit the high level players do. And TBH i hope they lean more towards the fantasy theme personally, instead of dabble in it with DLCs and horde mode but this is probably a hot take.
I just wanna say, on the topic of art direction and art style: People will in fact play your game if it is STYLIZED to look like a low poly runescape potato game if that is in fact what you're going for. Look at something like Albion Online where they can make Low Poly look really nice and clean, while still keeping it visually interesting at the same time! I think a lot more devs should look into ways to keep their games visually interesting, but not so demanding I guess. Photorealism is cool and all until it's beaten out by another game that does it better. You're much better off making something that is stylized. It makes it easier to develop, and easier to run
battlebit's art style worked well because the game was pushing 256 player servers and full structure destruction, literally any trashcan pc could run it fairly well and it also succeeded because the last few battlefield games were not very good and it had been hyped up for a long time with large playtests a game with incredible graphics and no style looks like a completely shit asset flip when compared to a game with great style and bad graphics
Anyone save an early release build of Mordhau? I stopped playing around 2021 whenever they ruined the flow of the combat, same time they doubled the equipment points.
displaying everything publicly was a mistake i think, should keep things under wraps until its definitely atleast presentable with your own dev team making decisions and ironing out the core before bringing contained outside opinions for tweaks inching it to a better final state, big changes and negativity are definitive project killers
It's not that it's impossible, but mordhau even if dead, was clearly ahead of his time, and tbh I speak as a dev and I don't think we will ever see another game with that quality in the melee genre. ( except if a big studio decide to take the challenge but glhf )
Diamond seems very uninformed abt the game kind of just a confused rant. That said its very sad that the game is dead the money is gone Ronguat's parents have gone bankrupt and guat wont even accept the death hes currently in denial "radio silence" yeah right! stoutlaw for life ✊✊✊
@doctuhdrew255 its not uninformed in the sense that hes objectively wrong, though i still disagree with a lot. It's just missing a lot of funnier and way more relevant information about mobius.
alot of battlebits success was also because of the failure of many AAA fps's at the time near its release. all battlebit was, is a working battlefield with proximity chat so it rose above all the jank games
The text here seems to be a very informal, stream-of-consciousness-style rant or discussion on the development of a game, likely referencing a chaotic game project and various frustrations with its management. Here’s a brief summary: The speaker criticizes the poor management, haphazard team structure, and chaotic direction of a game project, presumably named "Mobius." The development team had too many unnecessary roles, and key decisions were based on poor game design choices that alienated players. The community Discord was filled with unqualified feedback that influenced the project negatively, while core developers who might have contributed to a focused direction were ignored. In the end, it’s suggested that the project fizzled out due to a lack of clear vision, inadequate art direction, and mishandling of user feedback. The speaker ends on a resigned note, implying that other competing games might fare better due to a more disciplined approach.
i dont get why miss detection is so hard. mordhau's could be fixed by giving you like a 300 ms 'combo parry token' if someone's weapon enters release in your bubble. this would also mitigate the miss combo 'issue' by letting the defender just parry if his timing is true.
They added a miss detector that basically did what you described with parry recovery(jokingly called Miss Detector 5000/7000/9000 depending on what number felt right) to the game which was an idea I kept badgering Crush about years to do. No idea if it still exists in the game or how effective it is if it still is. I played the first build with it and it was decent. Haven't touched Mordhau for 4-5 years
@@-........ ye that sounds like Triternion fucking things up to me. I definitely remember a build where it played okay and triggered when I wanted though. Bit of a downer it's badly implemented. It wasn't just me asking for it and nor was it my original idea since everyone who played Chivalry 1 and Mercs mod wanted a game that had it, I just came up with the joke name for it for Mordhau. Having made a melee game prototype in UE5 with these same systems though, it's pretty difficult. I got it working pretty well but then you need to get to the actual content of the game lol. Doing that alone with limited resources is a bit of a fool's errand if you want to make money before your budget runs out. I'm not surprised at all at Mobius dying. I warned people that F2P for their first title was a very bad sign. Triternion still have the best melee game on the market by far, because almost no-one wants to put the time & money into those mechanics because it's a can of worms. Hence the lack of competition which is a bit of shame. If I had a team of people and 4-5 years to spare developing those systems, I'd bother myself and finish that game. I plan come back to it when my other games are already out and selling.
Tbh I've played chiv1 since 2016, then went to mordhau when it was in alpha and still play it. I heard about mobius from that reveal video and not heard shit since. Makes sense i guess?
they could just add voice chat into Mordhau and the game would be 3x more popular. but no Mordhau mods would rather ban people that talk about voice chat.
“This will be the CSGO of slashers and it will be the best” said the devs before bankrupting their families

what's that other game he's talking about, sounded like he was saying "sad boredom", I couldn't find anything for that on google
Haven't watched the video yet but the fact the game went live with those ugly ass assets is enough evidence that it was going to fail from the start.

Can someone explain to me what he's talking about? I never kept up with the mobius stuff.
their development is "going dark" after the playtests fizzled out, apparently the project is still alive however
