My veteran is a Cadian who was being sent to a Penal Legion in the Moebian Domain because he witnessed the Planetary Governor's son's cowardice first hand. In an attempt to save face and hide that the next ruler of the planet was a complete coward, they slapped some false charges on the veteran in an effort to get him executed, but his Castellan step in when he saw the charges were bullshit and was able to change the punishment from execution to Penal Legion service so the veteran at least had a chance to survive.

Before going MIA after the Fall of Cadia, his record indicated he had served with a unit seconded to a different Inquisitor to investigate the various plagues and insurgencies that erupted around the sector during the Black Crusade. He was flagged as an ideal candidate for Grendel’s warband and transferred over as a reject. While not happy to be forced back into the service of the Imperium, he finds a renewed purpose in fighting defend Atoma and slowly begins to redeem himself as a warrior.

      @@hesperosshamshael2873its not the Emperor.
For one, GW would never allow that. Him talking to Robute in Godblight (I think that was the book) was a huge deal. There's no way they just casually let Fatshark have some random mook canonically be best buds with the Emperor.
Also I haven't really played since launch, but IIRC, the psyker's beloved cracks jokes (or at least isn't entirely humourless) and is intimated to care about the psyker in some capacity. The Emperor can barely string together a semi-coherent sentence when talking to his son, and had to literally fragment his personality and cast his compassion out into the warp in order to kill Horus.
His beloved is 400% a demon and the implication that it could be the Emperor is just for fun.

    • @thegunwizard
      @thegunwizard 3 дні тому

@@youtubecommentmanguy Why not? The idea is that it's a random fragment of the Emperor, that may have different personality aspects/sense of humor/general coherency than the actual Emperor's body on the golden throne; after all, it is a fragment of the emperor's personality, his compassion and feeling. There's no reason you couldn't rule that one of those many fragments ended up in the mind of some random dude. And if it DID end up in the mind of some random dude, you know what I'd expect the symptoms to be? Mild/Severe insanity and the manfiestation of powerful psychic abilities.
The fact that the "beloved" actually does help the Psyker by giving them useful information as they fight the forces of Chaos implies that it's probably not a Demon - even if it were the Demon of another Chaos God, it probably wouldn't actively help the Psyker fight back a Nurgle invasion just for funsies. While their dialogue is often inconsistent, Beloved does seem to genuinely want the Psyker to make it out okay. It could be some other warp entity, but the idea that it's the Emperor isn't just the most funny possibility, but I also think it's the most fitting. And, in lieu of any evidence to the contrary, I also think it's the most likely? LIke, if it's not a Demon, it's probably not a warp entity God from some other species (like an Eldar entity or something), and it's not just a figment of their imagination, I genuinely don't think it's probable that the beloved is anything else.

People were questioning why a bunch of rejects were given a toothpick known as a relic blade. A literal ancient weapon only a select few can even wield and what can be consider a family hierloom for powerful clans/families. But people should understand that Zealots are basically living saints and that is a rarity even compared to space marines. Like its a rough estimation but 1 living saint can equal an entire platoom of marines. Their use doesnt come from the firepower they bring but their power of faith and somehow being a literal walking propagand machine. Its right for Zealots to wield the relic blade with this kind of status especially one with high trust.

    • @Tanzenergise

you also have to remember that the Rejects' weapons are all peeled off of corpses. To be fair, despite being rejects the player characters get their hands on a lot of weapons that theoretically an expendable grunt like themselves wouldn’t have a chance to get their hands on. The Veteran can get their hands on bolter weapons and a power sword. The Psyker get their hands on a wide array of force weaponry. The Zealot, minus the relic sword, get their hands on a bolt pistol, flamer, an eviscerator, and power weaponry. The Ogryn get heavy weapons like the twin-linked and heavy stubbers and power mauls.
It’s most likely due to the fact that the warband we’re a part of strips what ever it can find from the battlefield into the hands of our rejects and because we’re a part of a Inquisition warband to begin with, which allows to get our hands on some pretty sweet toys.

Since we're sharing characters, I'll share mine:
Psyker: Aleric, a young hive ganger. Technically a voidborn, the ship Aleric was born on landed on a hive planet soon after his birth, and his parents had been passengers, not members of the ship's crew. They settled down on the hive planet to try to find work, but things progressed as they usually do in the 40k universe, and due to sickness, Aleric was left an orphan, and found his way into a rough crowd. His gang had a run-in with a local group of religious philanthropists deep in the underhive, and Aleric experienced his first premonition, giving him a gut feeling something was off about them. After some needling, he got his gang to act on it, and they discovered they were a newly-settled Genestealer cult, still young enough to not be a major threat. Needless to say, the gang exterminated them. However, they were caught in the act by enforcers, and never got a chance to secure evidence of their discovery, so the people of the underhive basically demanded their execution. Some of them were executed, some were servitorized, and some were sent to penal legions as part of the blood tithe. Aleric was in the last group. However, his psychic awakening happened in transport, and he was moved to a ship better equipped to deal with him, where he ended up on an Inquisitorial prison barge headed to Atoma. His experiences have left him embittered and spiteful.
Veteran: Garret, a Cadian veteran. Garret, sadly, wasn't on Cadia when the 13th Black Crusade took place. His regiment had been seconded to another planet to deal with a Tyranid invasion, which Garret survived, often by the skin of his teeth. Many members of his squad died in the fighting, but he and a handful of others lived to return home. However, he received news of Cadia's fall while en route, and rather predictably broke. First accusing the messenger of lying, he started a fight and had to be restrained. He was court-martialled shortly after the incident, but because of the circumstances of his break, he was sent to a penal legion rather than executed. This is how he ended up en route to Tertium.
Zealot: Gloriosa, a death-cult assassin. Raised among the members of the Chalice of the Blood Oath, a minor sanguinary death cult devoted to seeking out traitors in the name of Saint Messelina, Gloriana took part in the attempted murder of a high-ranking Ecclesiarch whose name had been cleared of multiple accusations of heresy. They discovered the opportunity to strike had in fact been a trap and their attempt was foiled, and they were to be executed, but before the execution date, an Inquisitorial sweep stole the lot of them away, having decided that such brazen fearlessness might - MIGHT - be worth something in the coming days, with danger looming on the horizon for Atoma Prime.
I'd share my Ogryn, too, but honestly his backstory would probably be kinda boring in comparison to the last three.
Edit: I misspelled Gloriosa as Gloriana for some reason. I actually named her Gloriosa after a poisonous red flower.

But he ended up meeting a commissar, who was so impressed with his ability to work 16 hour shifts of INSANELY grueling labor to the point many higher ups in the imperium would consider it a form of torture too far he was recruited. But then, due to his, and a bunch of other ogryns act of insubordination on komlar(Holding big hill from heretics and protecting the little ones for 3 days.) he was arrested and sentenced to death, were the events of darktide play out! My Psyker is a Savant, prior Enforcer who worked alone, tracking down important targets but not too important that would require outside influence to be taken into account. She's dressed much like a bounty hunter, prefers to use a gun to hide her innate Psyker abilities. Unfortunately, when someone higher up realized she was a psyker working alone and without a handler, the Enforcers she worked with were also punished, as was she.
Ogryn: Lovable Brute who often forgets what he's doing. He'll stop commonly in missions and ask where the "Hairy-ticks are.". Only to forget a few minutes later and come to a clarvoyant discovery of. "Waitaminute... These ARE the hairy-ticks!" He's mostly along for the ride, waiting for this alleged invasion to start while simultaneously not realizing he's participating in it.

Something interesting about some missions seem to take place at the same time for the rejects implying there is likely different groups of “the rejects”
(theory crafting) But the closest to a callsign our rejects get is actually the hardest penance to currently get name.
Survive havoc 35 of high without anyone going down. Called “the insane”
Being the only penance which’s icon is literally each reject: zelot, veteran, pysker & Oygrn. In the similar poses to the ones on the title screen.
While probably unlikely it is funny to think about considering the dialogue wolfer has about us in missions
“Theres only four of them how hard is it to kill them?” (Roughly from memory)
what he says about “us” being one of the few to people to refer to our rejects. I like the idea of our rejects being canon-esc to a degree rather than nameless characters.
From whatever armor unlock description to most recent invitations to attempt to join the 53rd on some of their missions from the commissar dukane.
Morrow surely has got his valued impossible milage out of the rejects.
You can technically do a challenge of a zero death character theoretically get “the insane” penance if you dont like how it’s technically not canon if you die… if you so please for a “perma-death” run

My ogryn’s name is thud. He got his name because that’s the sound his head made when his mum dropped him. Thud spent his days as a humble algae farmer, and occasionally fending off raiders with his naval cannon of a shotgun. One day while running errands for the boss, he ran into and almost crushed a commissar. The commissar, noting the mountain of beef that is thud, convinced him to join up with the guard. Thud doesn’t remember much, just the shiny little one mentioned lots of rations. From there, it was off the races for thud.

he came from the water planet, I don't remember its name. but he has basically spent his entire life in the military structure. As a kid, he was conscripted into the local militia, and that basically instilled a sense of loyalty in him. so the second he got a chance to he enlisted and eventually reach the rank of a non-commissioned officer or a sergeant and he would still be in the guard if a snobbish officer didn't blame him for something he didn't do

My head-cannon for my Zealot Gherick is that he was raised as a progena at the behest of a Preacher who took a liking to him after discovering that he had roused a group of his fellow hive children into killing a foreman he accused of being a witch (he wasn’t, Gherick just didn’t like the guy). At the Schola he was exposed to the great sermons of the Ecclesiarchy, and further developed his unrivaled flair for the dramatic, eventually being trained as a Confessor. He began to think of himself as nothing more than a performer, and he slowly went mad as he lost himself in playing his own character. Now a caricature of a preacher, he doesn’t even “hate” the heretic per se, only doing so to the extent that he acts as his character would. His love for the Emperor is equally a sort of facade, as it is merely a love for the aesthetics and verbiage of the Imperial Cult that he has confused for a love of the God Emperor.
In his later years, he got in some trouble with the Ministorum when he organized an unsanctioned frateris militia against a noble family he figured would be a good target for a purging. He was unsuccessful at purging. He was in the process of being interrogated before execution when, luckily for him, the noble family turned out to coincidentally be involved in some light Chaos worship and, thinking the Ecclesiarchy was on to them, they exposed themselves by attempting an assassination on a local cardinal. After the Ecclesiarchy dealt with the situation, Gherick was still excommunicated from the Cult, but his sentence was commuted to one of hard labor rather than death. Whereupon he was saved by Zola.

Veteran - Former Tank Commander, ran Devil Dog pattern Hellhounds before being given command of a Leman Russ squadron, leading from his Executioner pattern Leman Russ. Sacked for insubordination because he didn't abandon a position against approaching Genestealer Cultists.
Psyker - She is an Enforcer with insanely good luck. She doesn't realize that she is a Psyker, and always just assumed targets that started burning with blue flames were a result of something they wore when her Lasgun hit them. Weird how others burn normal though.
Zealot - Under Hive Urchin and Cutthroat turned Confessor and attached to the Moebian's. He was mistaken for a deserter when he was found lost and struggling to find friendlies to warn about Wolfer going traitor.
Ogryn - Thud hits good. Thud gets into loads of fights. Thud was brought to the planet as a prize fighter. Thud was let out for a walk. Thud got picked up by angry boys who called him abomination. Thud got penned up in a cage. Thuds cage got broke. Thud saved boss lady Zola. Thud hero.

Andreas De Reuter (Professional Veteran): Former Sergeant of the Moebian 13th Regiment, "The Stormrangers." His platoon's commander was wounded during the later days of the Haxorn Campaign, and the replacement was... less than ideal, to put it mildly. He dished out constant punishments for smallest inconveniences. At first, De Reuter figured this new lieutenant would not stay for long and be dismissed by company command. However, during an operation against Orks, he decided to direct the platoon into a frontal attack instead of the planned flank manoeuvre. All squad leaders, including De Reuter, objected. Enraged, the lieutenant shot one of them in the leg and threatened to execute anyone who disobeyed him. De Reuter finally had enough and knocked him out with a shovel. Given the impressive service record, he was sentenced to secondment to a penal legion instead of execution.
Sebille Courbet (Savant Psyker): A former Tertium Enforcer. Her idealism and philanthropy often put her at odds with some of the less principled colleagues. The turning point was the discovery of a scheme involving the infamous Water Cartel who bribed the Enforcer Bastion command to look the other way while they ran their bloody business in the Torrent. The higher-ups decided to get rid of the nosy Witch, erased the records confirming Courbet's Sanction and fabricated charges of dereliction of duty against her.
Augustus Layrand (Fanatic Zealot): A pilgrim from Messelina Gloriana. A fervent follower of Sebastian Thor's teachings, he once discovered the horrid state of one of the worker hab blocks on Branx Magna. After learning of the unjust tithes imposed upon them by a noble, Layrand made a speech that roused the downtrodden labourers to a mass strike. As the disgruntled noble arrived at the halted manufactorum with armed escort, he ordered to fire a few shots at the crowd, killing and wounding several men. Fueled with zeal, the crowd overpowered the escort and immobilised the noble, and Layrand beat him nearly to death as punishment for abuse of the Emperor's loyal servants. Only the arrival of local Enforcers could stop him from completely ending the noble's life.
Metzger (Ogryn Bodyguard): De Reuter's companion from Mornax. Though Metzger served separately from his Boss in the Moebian 13th Ogryn Auxilia unit, the latter often visited him to remind him that he's not alone. Unknowing of De Reuter's arrest on Haxorn, he continued to serve till the incident on Komlar, where the Ogryns have defended the taken hill against heretic attacks for three days. In attempt to save face and not be ousted as cowards by the astonishingly brave actions of the Auxilia, the high command ordered all Ogryns who were on that hill arrested and sent to a distant penal colony.

He took Wolfer and the 6th betrayal personally as they sent the Kasrkin Squad into an enemy ambush with Cadian blood spilled and his found-family dead Hadel had nothing to loose so went Renegade going on a revenge quest to kill wolfer and his lackies waging a one-man guerrilla war against the 6th but was soon captured by a squad of Adeptus Arbites so was thrown into a prison ship instead of being executed by the Commissariat and was inbound to Atoma Prime to face trial soon breaking himself out of prison having gladly accepted Zola's offer but even if he didn't would've tried to find a shuttle and went after Wolfer himself.

My psyker, Namiria (savant), was an orphqn born and living on the ocean world and tried to get by by selling leaches, then her psychic awakening came during a bad storm that swept the ocean. In that storm she heard whispers and voices, not in her head, but feom below the waves. These forces calmed the warp in her mind. She became a servant of these voices but also kinda their child and looked at the world for them. At one point she joined the enforcers to gives the beings below the waves more to observe but at one point she was found out, she had a psychic overload but was saved by an eldrich light. So off to the inquisition she was sent to study this phenominon. Still, she can hear the voices from her homeworld and feel their presence. This is the reason she sometimes mutters about drowning when quelling the perils of the warp, she isn't feeling like drowning, instead she tries to drown the warp in her mind.

While on one of these helping trips, his psykic energy was detected, and he was found when he questioned why a deacon would need THAT much gold on their clothes.
    Genevieve:(Female fanatic Zealot)
Hailing from incron, the "water life" was in her blood, and she used her great diving/dredging skills to recover lost church artifacts she read about in the church's school books. One day, she found an ancient and really holy one at that, but a jealous coworker claimed she dug it up instead. When Genevieve tried desperately tried explaning this to the local deacon, she was arrested for insubordination
Amberdine:(female loose cannon to professional veteran)
From Cadia, though it's far from obvious: She lived as a ganger/smuggler, orphaned at a young age due to... you know... we dont talk about it...
as she masterfully avoided recruitment for a long time, and made a lot of money with succesful crime sprees. Eventually she was recruited into a squad where she did the bare minimum she could get away with. During a fateful day, her sergeant saved her life, sacrificing hers.
Her sergeant was an incredible woman, who always believed in her, despite everything, so when her legacy was at risk of getting tarnished, Amberdine backtalked an officer and went to prison for seditious activity
Later in life, when she found out how her family and elders she looked up to in her childhood served, changing her attitude form "just survive" to "i do them dishonor by being like this", becoming a true soldier
    Rokka(brawler ogryn)
From Mornax, where he spent his life as a mine guard, eventually having to joim the mining himself. One day during a mineshaft collapse, helped save a lot of (penal) miners by holding up the collapsed tunnel long enough, making him late for roll call, so they put him in prison for dereliction of duty.

I had made an ogrin called Bogus, he was an allege farmer and boy oh boy did he have a temper. People say all ogrin's are sweet boys, not Bogus.
I went with the "bully" personality and the amount of death threats I heard from my own character was at first shocking and then hilarious when I remembered that when Bogus said he would break the veteran in half for friendly fire he both meant it and could probably do it easily.
He also killed a plague ogrin with a rock once.

The loner psyker also sometimes will shout at the subtitles. Sadly this was nerfed. Yes Nerfed. The subtitles didn't use the correct word (four shortened that the subtitles says
foreshortened) The loner then yells at the subtitles that it's the wrong word, and demands the subtitles to pay attention to him. All of this last bit used to not be subtitled which was great since it was even more clear that the loner was yelling specifically at the subtitles. It was nerfed by now accurately subtitling what the loner says which defeats the whole original point.
