Yes, it was one of the starting gifts. Before the release the lead director was asked what he would choose as the starting gift and he replied he would choose either the pendant or nothing. The item description is honest to the point the pendant seems really suspicious:

The Bane is hilarious, though. It always lures you in with its awesome stats, and then you fire it and realize how annoying it is, but you think 'this thing is so funny and amusing that I don't mind', and that's when you realize how serious the movement debuff is...
That's what makes it literally unusable.

Exactly. You just gotta learn how to use this grenade mod. I think, it's actually easy, so in my opinion, it really isn't a troll item. Its high explosion radius and leveling damage is pretty strong for bigger groupes of enemies, too...

The thing is it doesn't scale with the OP levels as your level isn't increasing, just the items that you're getting via drops and quest rewards. In Normal Vault Hunter Mode it's amazing. Subsequent playthroughs it starts falling off until, again, you hit the OP levels should they be chosen to be done.

@@andyandersson5497 Thinking about it... some characters are taller than others. I may have been playing as Salvador, whereas you can throw without having to adjust your aim and it blows up just over their heads. With Zero and Kreig you have to adjust the aim slightly down to get same effect

not only is it a reference to that. The effect is Friendship+ and it causes sparkles underneath and around you.
This is just such a simple nod towards My Little Pony as it has the subtitle Friendship is Magic, is all about Friendship and the MC being called Twilight Sparkle.

Real talk, when the Commando's infinite movespeed thing was still at large the Bane was actually extremely helpful. The movespeed effect persisted indefinitely until you died, even through zones. Being able to crouch walk faster than a car is nice in wide open maps, but not in confined areas or places where one wrong move could send you off a cliff. Using the Bane would throttle your movespeed quite a bit without killing it entirely, and it just had great stats. It was honestly my gun of choice for a lot of areas in that game on my Commando.

My volume was always low enough that it didn't matter, actually. My ears are pretty sensitive normally so I tend to keep my game volume low, so it wasn't really that bad. Just like I had a screaming psycho midget next to me whenever I was firing it, really.

In a sense, the Fibber is trolly, with its inaccurate Stat card and all. Most of the variants aren't that great either. Only really a useful weapon in one form, which makes you shoot the ground and properly aim the ricocheted bullets at a precise angle to hit targets. Quite trolly indeed.

3:13 i got that grenade at the beginning of the game, and never used any other grenade mode. It's really good, and the risk is only when you throw it under you or right in front of you. Then it kills you instantly

the sky rocket is an excellent grenade ! My Krieg went with it all the way to OP8 . It´s about skill and how you send it, you can compensate the arc and actually somewhat control the trajectory. Sure it´s not the best grenade by far, but it´s extremely strong.

If your badass ranks are high enough you can counteract the kickback from the orphan maker I had a siren when the game first came out that had a glitch happen called slag licked what's my badass ranks to boost up to like 3 .4 million no damage

The turtle shield, makes you move slow as heck but gives you a speed boost when shields are down and is a pangolin shield so it doesn't work well with something like a super fast Kreig. I get that it's still useful because of it's obscene capacity, but you'd need to unequip it every time you did anything other than fighting the boss/arena you were using it on.

Hey, if you aim slightly downward and jump with it the Contraband Skyrocket is one of the most powerful grenade mods in the game. Combined with that ridiculose range and it's not to be underestimated. It takes a bit of practice to start, but once you do it's basically a free kill.
Edit: Mine scaled when I bought the pre-order for 2. I haven't tested it on The Handsome Collection but so far it's scaling properly.

idk if this has been patched, but if you swap weapons fast enough, you can transfer the Bane's screaming to the Infinity pistol. Infinite screaming. Though, you have to do this each time you wish to transfer the screaming.

The Midnight Star can be a nuisance, but if you can harness the technique and your environment properly (or use enemies as a partial meat-shield) it can be really quite effective; especially if you're Axton in Second Wind!
I've never played with anyone else, so IDK, but if passengers can throw grenades, I imagine they'd be even more effective; as I said though, don't know if that is even possible; though throwing one, then getting in a vehicle could lessen return damage!?!

I believe that the friendship amulet could very well be a reference to the Pendant in Dark Souls, an item you can get at the beginning that literally tells you that it has no use, however, that didn't stop the player base speculating that there's a secret wall somewhere. Some say they're still looking. Hell, FromSoft straight up makes fun of the players that did this in Dark Souls 3, so it wouldn't go amiss for Gearbox to take a jab.

The amulet is likely a reference to Dark Souls. One of the starting items is a pendant without any real use.

The gunerang was really annoying because if you didn’t hit an enemy it came right back in face, and another is that Hyperion sniper that criticizes you as you use it.
