Thanks Owen, I am 51 years old now and just enjoy flying on a Sim at home. You are an awesome guy and please continue just as you are. Your videos really help me relax after a busy day at work. Keep going Owen!
Heard an Atlas 747 picking up their clearance from HSV to London Stanstead. “Giant xyz, full route clearance, advise ready to copy.” After reading the first few fixes, the pilot asks “do I really have to read ALL of these?” Controller: “yessir…I’m sorry.”😂
I was fortunate to be a passenger numerous times, long ago on a non hush kit G-2. One night I was honored to be able spend a couple hours in the jump seat on a late night flight from Seattle to IAH. It was a crystal clear late fall night and at 42,000 it seemed like you could see half way across the country. The Captain pointed out Salt Lake City and another city several hundred miles from SLC. Spectacular views that night. I was also a passenger flying into Teterboro and it was complicated. We zigged and zagged several times it seemed…. It got my attention that afternoon
Thanks for sharing, very cool to see 1st hand what goes on in all the different aircraft you fly. Just came across your videos and subscribed. Safe flying 🙏🏽🤙🏼
Now that’s an ole school cockpit and process to set up for flight. ATC did a great job spelling out the full route clearance. Glad he wasn’t trying to win the “fast to say clearance” award. That was an easy day into TEB for sure.
Owen why do you spend so much time in the right seat? It would be great to see you in the left seat more. I like how thorough you are. I think you are a great pilot and I enjoy your content more than Gear Down. For someone who is trying to learn, to me he leaves out a lot of the little details. You explain the reasons behind what you do and that is highly appreciated. Continue to do what you do, God bless!
Thanks, I fly in whatever seat the client needs filled. I get paid the same regardless of which seat I’m in. I do have a few videos of me flying in the left seat on my channel.
Awesome that you get to fly into my home airport! Keep up the good work man! Hopefully I’ll be flying those big jets soon! Working on my commercial now!
Just an amazing job, the Professionalism & attention to detail is off the charts !!!! Not that I know :-) (63 & a pilot - My dad was flying before I was born) Aviation gets in your blood !!!
Does the GIV not have the ability to grab winds/environment data when plugging into the FMS? I would have assumed it would auto populate that data once provided cruise alt + plan vs grabbing from ForeFlight (or alt source) and entering it. And great video, I enjoy seeing the startup procedure/preflight parts being included.
Great video and in depth view of a contractor pilots life… I quit flying in the late nineties because my freelance status as a corporate jet pilot was ruining my family life… back then, networking through social media was still years away, so you grabbed every mission you could in fear of not being able to pay your bills. Stressed me quite a bit and affected my decision making process on several occasions… safety was in jeopardy … so I quit before buying the farm and joining all my lost friends on the hero wall… well, back then Europe was not an easy place for guys like me… Thanks again!
Very cool, thank you. I did a 18 month on a G-4. They're a very nice airplane. The G-4/5 are my second choice immediately behind the 7/8X. I do like the 3 holers but would also be extremely happy with the Gulfstream. Come on powerball 😊.
When you balance the fuel, does it actually pump it over between the tanks? Otherwise, this is insane. It’s interesting to see all the prep and planning. Most pilots usually just start and skip all this part but it’s nice to see all the monotony you have to go through as well.
@@FlyWithOwen C90B King Air Twin engine turboprop Female passenger lands Plane in Bakersfield California after pilot suffers medical emergency. Was headed to Monterey California from Henderson Nevada Oct 4 2024
Another very fast 30 minutes in the front office with my favorite gulfstream pilot. It's always amazing how busy it gets in the cockpit with all the different checklists. One thing I found interesting was how the auto throttle fine tunes the engines, thusly reducing the workload of the pilot. The initial clearances were definitely a mouthful that's for sure. Obviously that's not your typical scenario. Great video, Owen. Have a great day in New Mexico.
When kurt pulled the reverse levers, I noticed he did not move the throttles. Does pulling the reverse levers automatically spool up the engines, or do they stay at whatever they were set at on touchdown? Are there times on shorter runways you have to bring them up to increase reverse thrust? If I remember right, that one was 6000 ft.
The question isn’t how to network, the question is how can you become the type of person that is able to network. A lot of the times I find myself having to re shift my mental energy and thoughts, I came from shy kid who couldn’t speak to his own aunt and cousins to the commercial pilot who’s established himself as a person who is going to be in command of an aircraft with 200plus souls. A lot of people will ask the question and watch many videos but won’t do it because they aren’t that person. It’s not “not for everyone”in the sense it’s genetic but it’s not for every personality. You gotta be able to shift and evolve into a better person which is rewarding in of itself.
I'm almost done with my commercial. So... being a contract pilot.... that would be "Holding out" and being "Private Carriage" ? Do you need anything from the FAA? And would that be part 135? Sorry for the questions.... thought it may help with the oral on my Check Ride. Thanks for the vid.
Great job, both of you. Owen, do you fly with fuel tanks not topped off when trying to shorten takeoff distance when fuel is adequate to reach your destination?
"tops" refers to control yoke. On the ground at slow speeds they use nose-wheel steering and the tiller is on the captain's side. While the captain is using the tiller the FO will hold the control yoke to neutralise it. As they switch to/from yoke steering, they use the shorthand "tops" to positively handover control.
Yeah this was before we took the airplane in for engine overhauls. Overtime the rigging from the throttle controls to the engine will loosen a small Amount from usage. Gulfstream advised us to just wait a few more works until the engines came off the airplane.

Whats the process when landing in a small private airstrip? Is there paperwork involved, meeting the owner(s) etc? Do you have any vids of that. I plan to fly someday but theres too much i dont know
Very insightful video Owen! How do you manage the simulator sessions in all the types you have? Being a full contract pilot means paying for all the courses?
Any suggestions for being able to fly/book empty Legs or simply ride along with you? I'm based out of Palm Springs and often go to Atlanta, New Jersey, Chicago?
With the massive route clearance. What did you file? and then what was changed? Seems like they could just do an amendment to what needed to be changed? Keep the videos coming! love seeing your success.
Could a pilot fly a jet of this size solo if they needed to? It always confuses me cause in movies I see it but irl videos almost never show solo flights on medium to large private jets
What a beautiful aircraft and a flawless flight.
You guys are top notch.
Really enjoyed this video.
Thanks.
This was fun shooting with you! Looking forward to flying again soon!
Enjoy watching you guys enjoy flying together. Much respect for all the info pilots have to know. You def seem former military.

Awesome video as always! Loved the interior in that plane as well, simply gorgeous!

My favourite youtube pilot is back! Enjoying this one with a morning coffee. Thanks for all the cool content Owen.
Beautiful plane Owen, it looks like one of the most complicated ones to fly that I have seen in your videos. Great flight.
Great flight, another piece of art video ! thanks for taking us Owen! Your channel is a great inspiration :) Greetings from Germany, EDMG
Absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! Great team...very professional.
Thank you!
First time watching the channel this is exactly what I wanted to find on a flight vlog. Really cool stuff man stay safe up there.
Terrific video! Greatly appreciate your content - and piloting skills.
Thank you!
Guys. Great video, thanks. To see the technicalities of flying a business jet was amazing, you must get tremendous pleasure from your jobs.
I've seen N999NB a bunch at Sonoma and gotten to sit in it a few times. Beautiful jet, you're lucky to get to fly it.
We flew for the old owner, but it's a great airplane.
Great video Owen! You make the super complicated look so easy...cause that's just who you are! Thanks for the adventure!

Hi Owen i love watching your expeariences with all the aircraft you fly from sunny South Africa!

I do. I talk about this in previous videos

Great job, both of you. Owen, do you fly with fuel tanks not topped off when trying to shorten takeoff distance when fuel is adequate to reach your destination?
Great video, really appreciate all the explanations during the startup procedure. What is meant by tops (27:30)?

@@martinbarry9662 thanks for the explanation. Is “tops” short for something or maybe an acronym?
I noticed the throttles weren't synced during cruise, around 20 minutes. The right would decrease about an inch and then move up to match the left.
Just throttle rigging
