Thanks for sharing!! I am about a month into my loc journey and want to keep my ends curly too. How soon did you start manipulating your ends when you first started yours?
Omg the maintenance is a pain but the curls start to behave eventually. Took mine a year. I didnt need to comb them or add gel because they behaved so well.
I'd comb them after every wash which was once a week. But that was at the beginning of my loc journey. Now that I'm 2 years in, I comb them out like every other month which it barely needs cuz the ends know not to seal now.

Started manipulating since day 1 lol After every wash, I'd comb out & condition the ends.
