A good tarp job is essential. When foremen and managers see a hotshot rolling off with their valuable thingy and it's tarped good and looks nice, it gives hotshotting more legitimacy in their eyes.
Alex you want to know an old flat benders trick? Get you a piece of PVC pipe 4" × 30" and strung your bungie's from one end to the other and it will keep them all in order. Instead of them all tangled up in that milk crate. Cooltruckin out.
That's a good tarp job and thank you also for being willing to help new people out in this business and for all the information and informative you put in your videos. I for one am not in that business yet but wanting to get into it and also really appreciate all the information you pack in your videos as well as showing as well.thank you tow piglet very much
Excellent job Alex. All new guys should definitely watch this and also be thankful there is a great person like you doing all these videos. When I started in the mid 90’s I had to wing it and learn by mistakes. The old timers couldn’t be bothered. I always try to help everyone out. Keep it up bro. 👍
Excellent job I drove t n t for 12 yrs produce from Cali to hunts point market ny and tmc were 100% on the money everytime. That looks as good as any I ever seen. Keep up the good work
TP where in the heck do u Keep all this stuff? Seems to me the pick up bed cannot hold all the stuff that you continuously pull out of it like a rabbit out of a magicians hat
Awesome job it just takes practice day in day out it's a real challenge in wind and rain but in winter weather when the traps are frozen 🤯 God-bless and stay safe out there 🙋♂️🇬🇧
Thank you for the video, Alex. In this one, I missed out on some of the instruction, because you put the video on a fast play and I could have used more explanation. I realize that it would have taken more video time and what are possibly made it a little bit more boring. But I would rather pay the price of boredom and have greater understanding of how this simple yet very important task is done. Keep up the good work.
Man this brings back memories . When I first started running hotshot I ran mostly freight. I use to enjoy it all the way up until the point of checking the notes on the load and seeing must be tarp . Mannnnnnn talk about ruining a day well this was it for me . Then I would work places like north west and north east mid west east cost in the middle of winter so ok imagine me 5’7 190 lbs trying to handle a really heavy tarp . Then the tarp is frozen or full of water from rain which adds extra weight smh man I hated this part of hotshot . Then they break loose when traveling and end up flipping and flopping all over the place and makes people scared to pass you lol . Man I can safely say I have had some horrible tarp days in my past experience. It’s all experience though and I get it . I use to have to ask fork lift guys to help Me with the tarp man what a embarrassment and I would demand and request the boss to get lighter tarps and they would brush me off like 👍 end of the list not important . So yes when the partnership became sour I always said screw it I hated to tarp anyway and this one particular company would tarp 85% of their loads but did not pay extra . I see this same company begging for drivers up in Avon /Indianapolis area that lady was the worst of the worst . Smh 🤦♂️ 🤔 🛻 the lady husband said if he had not stopped driving for her the partnership was about to ruin his marriage and he said he felt sorry for anyone she hires because she was just that much of a AH. But yeah that tarp will make you or break you . Imagine wrestling with that tarp all Muddy wet and all that then have to haul 6-7 hundred miles . I use to run in catch a shower real quick at the pilot then go because you always want to keep ya truck clean and vacuumed out and neat as possible .
Thank you very much for all the vídeos! Very helpful . I would Like to know What size is your tarp . How Many tarps do you have? Steel or Lumber tarp? From where did you got IT?
Yes I remember now it was the one in fort worth. Thanks tow piglet. I just got my authority active Friday. Now I'm stuck on when to decide to put in my two weeks notice at my job making around 49000 a year. Wish me luck. Thanks Tow piglet. You made it look easy
Very nice wish you a little closer and show more of the front and back along with what direction to tarp. Always goes with the flow, never against it. Also there are different sizes of bungee’s, what size are you using. Do you use the longer one more than the medium or smaller one. A little more details helps a lot. Thank you very much good and very easy to follow.
I would consider making a Curtain Van setup with an Expanding Upward Supports to accommodate 5' up to 10' Heights. Slide Forward and Backwards with Center Division to Load Forward -Aftward-Center tighten and GO. There is Easy and then there is Real Easy and the Advertising of Your company is Oustanding. My Perterbuilt Sleeper On The Trailer gets Stopper-Byer's asking for Business Cards and Route Information 😀
I'm pretty sure I saw you on i81 going South in Pennsylvania, I was going North on my way to base with my new 40' BigTex. (August 1st, 2019 - Between 12 and 2pm)
In my opinion tarped loads never pay enough. It's a lot of work. Add in summer heat or frigid temps and it just makes it that much more difficult. These shippers should be paying a minimum of $150 to tarp a small load.
He said what they were in a video, and I think it was a 20x30 main tarp and a 20x20 for the front. I decided to start taking notes about 10 videos after that one.
Could you do a video tarping when windy that will be very helpful (sometimes when I got all of my trucks covered I help the drivers that I dispatch to tarp but man when windy is a nightmare) also how much is the dispatch service ? I charge 12% I’m thinking about raising it but I want to be fair what you think? Thank you in advance.
I was wondering if I could do hot shot otr full time with a ford E350 van and a 30ft aluminum trailer? I think it would be a lot more comfortable than sleeping in a pickup. and I could stay at camp sites. do you think I would be able to make that work? or would it be too hard to find loads that pay good enuph to cover cost?
As he hasn’t replied. I would think not. guessing numbers. (I had a 1 ton yrs back) 1 ton van towing 7500 lbs? 30’ alum trailer weighs near 3500 lbs? Leaves you 4000 payload? You shouldn’t have a concern (cdl)as you can’t get close to 26k gvwr. BUT if there was a constant load between two points that worked for your costs.... he went 40’ just to be able to haul two partial loads. Hard to do on 30’, 4K load limit. Plus a GN/ 5th hitch is so much better then bumper hitch. Loading docks are “wasted space” in building design. It’s rare you don’t scream (internally). “Why didn’t they make the lot 30’ longer”. Instead you scuff tires, try to back 90 degrees to blind side. Wishing a light rain to reduce stress on tires, axles...

smells like bots in here

Appreciate it
Good idea!!

I for one am not in that business yet but wanting to get into it and also really appreciate all the information you pack in your videos as well as showing as well.thank you tow piglet very much
Your tarps are always tight, on point, and neat looking...good job TP.
By far one of the best tarping videos for a hot shot out here! Thank you sir for taking the time to show us your techniques.
Dude, thank you for that! I have been trying to figure out the right way to do that!
Excellent job Alex. All new guys should definitely watch this and also be thankful there is a great person like you doing all these videos. Thanks Alex
Always wanted a more in-depth video on trapping.

Excellent job I drove t n t for 12 yrs produce from Cali to hunts point market ny and tmc were 100% on the money everytime. That looks as good as any I ever seen. Keep up the good work
I'll bet you wrap presents beautifully, great job tarping from a 30-year flatbed trucker
TP where in the heck do u Keep all this stuff? Seems to me the pick up bed cannot hold all the stuff that you continuously pull out of it like a rabbit out of a magicians hat

Nice and informative bro. Now for the next video, how to fold a tarp 👍
Nice job. And by the way, the video quality is really, really good.
Thanks brother, what a nice work.
I always wondered why them TMC flatbed tarped loads were so tight. They had some TP tarp training. Good video.
Awesome job! Thanks for the tips!

Hey Alex, why did you chose a trailer with out a RUMP?
I would consider making a Curtain Van setup with an Expanding Upward Supports to accommodate 5' up to 10' Heights. Slide Forward and Backwards with Center Division to Load Forward -Aftward-Center tighten and GO.

How do you learn to drive with such a long trailer when you are starting out? Just wing it?
Go slow, take wide turns, and constantly check your mirrors. Give some more following distance and watch further ahead for hazards.
Alex, Get your tarps painted with TP and phone # for services rendered!
Become a rolling advertisement t for yourself
Nice tarp job
Can you give us an equipment list? Such as tarps, bungee cords ect
I'm pretty sure I saw you on i81 going South in Pennsylvania, I was going North on my way to base with my new 40' BigTex. (August 1st, 2019 - Between 12 and 2pm)
What kind of tarp is that measurements and what kind of weight is the tarp? Thx for the help great to see you trying to help people

What’s up with the mustang in your opening?
Alex, where do you buy your Tarps from?
Can a 35ft derated to 12k hold 2 full size cars
Hey TP, what tarp are you using?
Two questions if it’s already bubble wrap why would you tarp it , And the second one do you need a DOT physical if your non-CDL driver
So the rain doesnt ruin it..
Sweet
Bubble wrap will most likely shred in the wind. Yes on the DOT medical.
Thanks bro just awsome
how much do you charge to tarp loads?
Were can i get the tarps
MyTee Products
Great content Alex 👍🏽. I have a 33’ trailer and would like to know what size tarps you recommend that I use?
How often do you hit over 9,000 lbs for your load
Great video!!
Question do you have to pay what I believe is the hub tax when you go in New Mexico
Alex what is your tarp size? How many taps do you have? How many blankets and ratchet straps?
He said what they were in a video, and I think it was a 20x30 main tarp and a 20x20 for the front.
I decided to start taking notes about 10 videos after that one.
@@archangel20031 lol, thanks for your answer, that was long time ago, we are almost a year in the hotshot business 👍
On the old truck did you ever have trouble with the dot since the truck was deleted?
Shhh
🐐 status
What I don’t understand is why do have to tarp a plastic wrapped load?
Could you do a video tarping when windy that will be very helpful (sometimes when I got all of my trucks covered I help the drivers that I dispatch to tarp but man when windy is a nightmare) also how much is the dispatch service ?
