I can’t even. I have pneumonia and have completely hurt myself laughing. And the way you say quizinart. Bread Brandi. I love your laugh. The crusty bits on your paint brushes are what makes your art unique. TFS.
Thank you for sharing these hacks. I would love to see more of them. I have recently read that if you have crusty brushes, wash them in warm wash, dish detergent and add a single drop of fabric softener into your water. They turn out clean, soft and smelling great. 🤷
@@thediystruggle it worked really well for me. I just put a little bit in a small cup or bowl and just let it sit there for a while and it really worked ❤️
Brandi, I knew #2...but the cling wrap w/ decoupage blew me away !! Have to try that one ! Thanks for testing these for us !! Take care and TFS my friend !! ❤️
Murphy's Oil Soap for the crusty bits brushes. It won't degrade the adhesive inside the ferrule (which causes shedding), and it really does just seem to slide the paint off the bristles. If you're in a real pinch and it still won't come off, pure acetone (hardware store or beauty supply) will take it ALL off if you just soak it. You just run the risk of losing bristles later.
I'm happy it's holding up for you. I was giving mine as a gift! Lol. I had to lift it, get the plastic off ( only where it stuck) and then modpodge it. I must have done something very wrong! Lol
I love that you tried and shared all these hacks. Loved the dry-erase project. But, what I love the most about all of your videos is how you crack me up with your humor and actual voice and laugh. Seriously, you make me laugh and that is priceless. Thanks so much.
Word of advice on your first craft with the sunflower napkin. After you've done the napkin on top of the plastic film, come again with a second layer of the plastic film on top of the napkin and iron the same way. This will "seal" it in.
My pleasure! I try to do hack videos or reviews videos.. something different the first friday of every month but this month I had a collab so it was the second friday!
Your supposed to heat up the knife until it's really hot . Then cut the bag in half. The heat will seal the cut part of the bag together, making two separate bags.
Great video that decoupage method looks like even I could have success with. I've done a few things but they just don't quite come out as well as I would like.
😂🤣omg you are killing me with laughter, I didn’t know any of those hacks especially the tape dispenser one, I feel like a total dodo about that one! Awesome video, loved this one a lot….great job!
I love watching anything you do. But I really enjoyed watching you reenact these hacks. Is do more. But I really love your painting I really want you to paint a big rustic barn with your charisma and spark. .♥️♥️
That knife is a lettuce knife. I have one that a purple plastic one..as for the sandwich bag..you vlcan use a vacuumed bag sealer to make 2 bags..the heated blade melts them at the same time...😊
You have to have and use a knife that has been heated with flame. That way when you’re cutting the bag it’s melting and sealing the bag together on either side as well as cutting a complete perfect line down the centre if you don’t hit the ninth to pay can’t melt and won’t steal you’ll have open packs.
Thanks for the tip on the packaging tape. Put paint brushes in a bottle of water and let the sit. My brushes were crusty for two or three months. I let the sit I a bottle of water for 2 or three hours and everything was fine. I swirl them in the water then washed them off with tap water.
Great hacks. I put my paint brushes in a glass or cup with some hot water and dawn dish washing soap and leave them there for a litter while and to this day the brushes look great. Kathy Jo crafter on UA-cam also has a hack for paint brushes which I also use at times and that works, too. I love hack videos because you learn alot. Have a great weekend.
If you use water, dawn, and baking soda for your paint brushes, it'll work better. And if you fold it, use a straight edge and your heat gun, then your knife, the two bag hack will work.
Thanks for the great hacks.... You had me so gone with them zip lock bags.... The knife has to be scorching hot to be able to seal the bags when you cut them.
Wow!😮 a tablet sized dry erase board! Wayback when, I cut down Ziploc bags to size and sealed Are them using a hot skewer. It worked… but I had to fiddle with it to make sure the seal worked. I didn’t use a hot knife, but that might have worked better personally using the 4 x 6 50 pack of small plastic bags from dollar tree has been really great. Thank you so much for the rest of the tips!
I have always used hot vinegar to soak my crusty brushes in. I use a microwave safe container to heat the vinegar, heating it up every so often without the brush. Then if needed, use a copper wire dish scrubber on a scratch proof surface to remove stubborn paint bits, using a combing motion on the bristles. Just don't be overly aggressive as it can remove the bristles along with the paint. P.S. I worked for a wildlife artist for over 20 years and saw him doing this. Hope this helps.❤
I've seen the zip lock back hack on UA-cam. The lady said to use a wood cutting board heat your knife up with a lighter then cut the bag, but you have to let it sit for just a few seconds to seal the sides. I have not tried this, but it is a really neat hack if it really works.
You have to get the knife pretty hot cause it basically melts the bag together also you need to let it sit for a moment before checking it so it can seal and yes you need a very sharp knife
I knew about the glue stick trick but the cling wrap one, I thought you were suppose to put it on top of the napkin and then use the parchment paper and iron. That way it was sealed on top. I don’t think I ever saw anyone put it under the napkin. I’ll have to go back and see. Thank you Brandi for all that you do. I love it! You could make the glue dots ahead though and use them as molds. That could be cool.
Hello! The ziplock bag trick works if you heat up your knife. That’s what creates the two bags from one. It melts in to and seals while it creates the bag. The hand sanitizer works but takes a while. Try taking a sheet of plastic wrap, squirt some hand sanitizer on it, put your brush in it and wrap it up. Let it sit over night. Then it should work. Good luck! ❤️💜💚
I have´had a couple of paint brushes that had dried to hardness. So to hopefully clean them, I used HOT water running from the tap, dawn antibacterial dish soap, hand sanitizer and Goo Gone......soft clean brushes was the outcome. No damage to the brushes at all. I still have them and use them.
I use dawn soap and hot water with a sponge and use the Bristol side of the sponge. I get my sponges in DT they are the double sided ones. That usually works for my paint brushes. If I can’t clean then I toss them. Not my good ones the DT paint brushes go In the trash if it doesn’t clean up properly. Oh I never knew the tape hack! TYFS ❤🤗
For the plastic bag hack, you are supposed to heat the knife before cutting through the bag. The hot knife is supposed to seal the edges of the bag so that it becomes two separate bags. The downside to that is that repeatedly heating your kitchen knife will cause it to lose its ability to stay sharp. So to save a few pennies on plastic bags you are essentially ruining a good kitchen knife. It would be cheaper to buy the snack size bags lol. Thank you for sharing these hacks, though. Some of them are very helpful! Love your channel and I think you are hilarious! 😂
I agree id rather just bug the bags. The thing is the tik tok hacks never showed anything but a knife and cutting the bag. SO, it seems simple enough but all the extra is not worth the struggle to me personally.. and me and a hot knife would not be a safe thing..lol
Keep a small jar of water on your desk and when you finish with a brush just drop it in the jar. Granted once the jar full you spend fair bit of time at the sink washing them out but least there’s no crusty brushes. Tahah
I was floored when it came up in my search, and was like OMG... WE CAN MAKE LANTERNS OUT OF EVERYTHING.. my people must know..lol and yep. I have 2 other glass containers from dollar tree that light fit in, I love the idea so much, she is so authentic and creative!
The 2 bag hack you need to use flame like a lighter on the blade and make it HOT. It works I've done it
I will have to try, In the tik tok hacks they didnt say anything about heat it was a knife and a big..lol
You will definitely have to try it's super cool!
Thank you. It was fun
Glad you enjoyed it!
You're so funny and creative.
If I'm having a difficult day I watch you on UA-cam and laugh and feel better
(Hugs) I'm so glad that I can bring joy to your day!!
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing.
Love the video
So happy to see you in the live!!!

Thank you my friend! I hope you feel better, my youngest is under the weather too right now! I am so over winter already
Love your hacks!!!!
I learned all good hacks from you. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing these hacks. I would love to see more of them. I have recently read that if you have crusty brushes, wash them in warm wash, dish detergent and add a single drop of fabric softener into your water. They turn out clean, soft and smelling great. 🤷
Loved having you try themselves we know what works and doesnt
Thanks Darlene!
❤love it all.
You can use the scalloped knife to cut pool noodles. Put them inside your boots to keep them from flopping over and creasing
Really cool video.
Thanks Deb!
@@thediystruggle you rock. You are the best.
I love Dee on she's so crafty
Fabric softener works awesome on your brushes ❤️
Good to know, I will have to try that one! Thank you Michelle!
@@thediystruggle it worked really well for me. I just put a little bit in a small cup or bowl and just let it sit there for a while and it really worked ❤️
I wish thats all it took for these..lol
Can’t wait!!! 😊
OMG the tape hack.Thanks Brandi
Right!?!?! Gonna change my life!

Oh honey, I love these hacks. Thank you.
Thank you Barbara!
I would love to see more! God bless you!
When I clean my crusty paint brushes I use a pet de shedding comb to brush thru my paint brushes to pull out those left over crusties. Works amazing!!
Ohhhh I love this!!! Thank you!
Thank you! Love these videos. ❤
So glad! I always learn something so I really enjoy trying stuff.lol
Super fun! TFS! Have a great weekend ❤️

Brandi, Tfs, these were very helpful! ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thanks for the hack on the tape. Can't tell you how many struggles I have had with this stuff. 😅😅😅
Omg me too!!
Also for the crusty paint brushes I soak em in HOT water and dawn dish soap and it works!
I have to try this too! thank you!
💝💝
When I tried calling wrap it worked for a day, then everything came up! Lol
It has been almost a week and mine is still holding up!!
I'm happy it's holding up for you. I was giving mine as a gift! Lol. I had to lift it, get the plastic off ( only where it stuck) and then modpodge it. I must have done something very wrong! Lol

Murphys oil soap works good for soaking crusty brushes
Interesting!! Thank you!
I love all your craft videos. Keep them coming please!! 😊🙏
Thank you! Will do!
Loved everything, especially the decoupage one! I have the worst luck using other techniques.
I want to investigate that decoupage hack further
I am so happy that you did the research, because I did not know these things. I love you🥰🎶
My pleasure! I try to do hack videos or reviews videos.. something different the first friday of every month but this month I had a collab so it was the second friday!

Welcome!! I hope they don't disappoint!!
You cut lettuce with plastic knives to keep the lettuce from turning brown
This was fun! Thanks for doing this.
Any time! Thanks for joining me girlie!
I knew the glue stick hack but not the packing tape one. I've seen the iron on decopauge never tried it
The packing tape one made me furious..lol all this time !! ahaha

I love these! Thanks for teaching us. The weird knife is for cutting lettuce or bread. Also great for styrofoam.
Thank you!!
Those were great! I love how you keep it real lol
I like the lantern hack. Some of the others are too time consuming.
You ain't lieing

HELLO EVERYONE 👋
❤ these hacks! Love be how u r real wether they work or not😂
I gotta let yall know!!!! I wanna help!
Great ideas. I want to do the lantern for sure.
Love that you did these hacks. They were great. I think with the knife hack the knife has to be very hot to seal the bags.
Yeah, it has to be literally red hot. Don’t know if it’s worth the danger.
The only one I knew about was the plastic wrap “decoupage” hack!
You have to get the knife pretty hot cause it basically melts the bag together also you need to let it sit for a moment before checking it so it can seal and yes you need a very sharp knife
Thanks Gwen!

To get rid of glue strings just run a blow dryer or heat gun over the finished project.
I use hand sanitizer to clean my brushes with my soap..it makes it more gummy and easier to come out
I use dawn soap and hot water with a sponge and use the Bristol side of the sponge. I get my sponges in DT they are the double sided ones. That usually works for my paint brushes. The baggie hack you need to heat your knife over the stove. Then cut your baggie the hot knife will melt the baggie into 2 bags.❤

You crack me up lady!!! Thank you! Can you please tell me what to do with the glass that I remove from picture frames? Is there a DIY?
Too funny, I wrote to previous comment and your next hack was the dry board with the glass!!
Keep a small jar of water on your desk and when you finish with a brush just drop it in the jar. Granted once the jar full you spend fair bit of time at the sink washing them out but least there’s no crusty brushes. Tahah
I actually use my crusty brushes a lot for distressing and adding texture to things!!! I appreciate the information! Thank you!
No damn clue on any of em! Thanks!
You using something from She So Craftee is awesome. My 2 favs together. Worlds are colliding! Lol

Very informative and some are very creative. I knew about the glue stick hack from another UA-cam channel. Love the plastic wrap decoupage.
