This is great country music. Americana.🎸🇺🇸. Thank you for letting us hear a great show from the past. I love hearing Chris talk about the days he spent with Graham P. They had a good chemistry while it lasted. RIP Graham.
Such a great band and a amazing fit with the Grateful Dead, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, Quicksilver Messenger Service & Hot Tuna among others that graced the scene there.
Thank God for the radio stations that had the foresight to record its live simulcast back in the early freeform days! I was a DJ at one of them back in the ‘70s and we did hundreds of these, from the Dead to Robert Fripp. There were a couple in the NYC area. On election day 2020, fate had me standing in the sleet for 2+ hours and the old guy behind me turned out to be the engineer who did years of live broadcasts, plus studio sessions…and he kept tape back-up copies. ..has everything from “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” LP sessions to Gram Parsons & Fallen Angels live broadcast.
25:38 This is just the best song ever.Remind me my life or no ❤ The heart's due to that I met her and all of you guys are songs about losing her and I'm a lover.
GP does have a wonderful voice and the rest of the guys are great. I gather this is a recording Bear made as KPFA was broadcasting this. Very cool, however it made it to us!
50 years ago, I read about some guitarist's body burning out in the Joshua tree desert. I wasn't an active fan yet- I was a NRPS fan and eventually became a Graham fan. Well when he created with the Byrds, Intl nat sub band, Burritos and his excellent albums with Emmyluo- he REALLY set the tone! Then like Ricky Nelson, and many others - poof! Maybe he's in Baltimore, running around the streets... Thank God I STILL have an aversion to needles, and yet now somehow donate type -O to the Bloods! Did Graham see Keef do his shit, and thought he could do it at that level ?! I mean Graham could still be recording and playing like his hero the former X WINO! The Dead's closing set from the same night is amazing too, and highly regarded among Deadheads. They played past closing time and the club turned off the power during Viola Lee Blues. Flying Burrito Brothers were little known at the time. It's great to hear a high quality recording of the band during this era. Gram Parsons left the band (or was fired by Chris Hillman) a year later.
It's his awkward timing along with his sense of humor - like he knows it's basically country & Western but with acid. Gram's mellifluous vocals are almost pleading "Listen to me!" This charismatic fella from Waycross has my heart - or what's left over from my deep dedication to the truth-telling songwriter who crawled outta Dub's in Gainesville and conquered the world! RIP TEP & GP aka ICC III.
What a great live recording! They sound better than on their albums, I think. Sneaky Pete really cuts loose on some great licks too! Also they are playing many songs that didn't make the LPs.

Ambassador and evangelist of real country music to the rock n roll heathens! Yee haw! Thanks Gram, buddy. Your music is still making ripples.
the vision of 'cosmic american music' ...
Well said.
Wish he were here to make more music, he’s so good, nobody else like him, my favorite guy❤❤❤❤😊😊
Bass is wicked, Pedal steel is crystalline, vocals are stunning, drums are solid and all this is live

That sweet, plaintive voice! Sometimes it hurts to hear it. Beautiful pain.

Hands-down the best live FBB recording out there. We're darn lucky to have it.
On Record Store Day, April 20, The Flying Burrito Brothers "Bluegrass Special: Live in Amsterdam 1972 is being released. It's a 2 lp set.
At the disaster at Altamont the Flying Burrito Brothers was the only band to keep the crazy crowd in check.

It wasn't his voice as much as his intelligence and desire to musically write and sing different music
No.

Everyone praising the sh** out of Gram when the pedal steel guitar for me is what really defined this band and put them on a league of their own
I appreciate them all. Wonderful band! Love Sneaky's special touch. That fuzztone; Hillman said it could shake your teeth loose.
Sneaky Pete can play any genré. He just became my favorite steel player! OMG! 😮
Chris Hillman Gram Sneaky Pete what talent Clarence White and Ethridge thanks Mike awesome
Clarence is not on this recording. He was never a Burrito.

I think so. I have the album, and it lists Gram as doing lead vocals, guitar, and piano. No-one else mentioned on keyboards.
Its Tom Constanten, a keyboardist briefly for the Grateful Dead.
