My first show and their last at The Uptown 🎉
Dirt Bag at the Dirt Palace! Loose The Beard! UR No Jerry, Preppy Where is Your Purple Izod? Bobby Im. a Spoiled Ficking Brat 16 in Haight with A Rich Smart Lawyer Daddy🎉🎉
I live in Milford, CT and was 5 at the time. Of course I wasn't at the concert, but I wouldn't be surprised if I still had my parents' 8-track tape of "Red Octopus" in an old box somewhere!
One hell of a set list
SF!
First hand look at. How nasty people can be.
Nothing can escape itself...
Stick Around For Rock And Roll. Probably my favorite Outlaws song.
I was 14 and my uncle took me to this concert because his friend became ill and couldn't go. My first experience to the great Allman Brothers. I am 69 and still my favorite.
I was there, 15 yrs old. I'm still looking for the top of my head! Ah,there it is!
Freddie in his puffy shirt. He's the only one that could pull that look off!
and yet you show a photo of Copperhead. HELLLOOOOOOO They had nothing to do with this obviouisly. Is Murray reall on it? Who knows when you cant evenm get the photo right?
30 years later One can still hear the colors emanating from the music today
Splendido live concert
By the person in the picture Son House.
Was this the gig that frank mentioned in his book The Real Frank Zappa book? Where he wasnt allowed to record with the Los Angeles Orchestra?
Why don't you have Lightnin' Hopkins picture here?
i'm guessing this is a board feed from the Dead's system. The Band was much better for me on this show...Dead shows are always iffy depending on a jillion variables
what an asshole
I think I was there.... Is this the only night BD played out of the three?!? I just remembered the music stopping and the helicopter landing.... I think that's all I remember about the whole show. It was also the first night I was ever intimate with my grandpa.
I have not seen one mention of Nicolette Larson's vocal backup at this concert! She was wonderful! Apparently she was dating Neil at that time.
Song list
Song list
I have remixed and remastered this show, and posted this here: ua-cam.com/video/l3Ml2A92Jpk/v-deo.html Enjoy!
Great Live Music by Jefferson Airplane!
That China Cat slip into Cumberland gets me every time ... sublime. Thank you for uploading this.
Papa John no one in his class. Fiddle is a hard instrument to master. I.play guitar and bass but I don't think I could learn the fiddle.
How wonderful to be there again. I don't mind listening over the phone!
One thing I have never liked, however, is the improvisation of the vocal melody.
That ad at 23:00 is a bitch
My 7th birthday 🎈🎂
Thank you! !!
Nice one!!!!!!
"THIS IS IT!" -- (none other than) Stephen Stills
Throwing this out there. My dad, step sisters, step brother, myself and my birth brother all went to see Hot Tuna in fall/winter 1972 or spring 1973 in D.C. or in Maryland. There are no records I could find of shows in that area in those years. I know the time line and place are accurate. I was 16. The girls had the record and my dad played violin as did a step sister. Any one out there happened to see a show in that area during those years? Just curious. I'm writing a family memoir and I want to be as accurate as possible.
🙌🏿🙌🏿
Emmy Lou Harris , " Sweetheart of the Rodeo " & " That,s All It Took ! " & Gram Parson,s & Fallen Angels , Byrd,s Flying Burrito Brothers , just a young man form the " Florida Orange Groves " !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aren't Jorma, Jack and Spencer completely amazing here? The Spare Chaynge outtake is unreal. Maybe it's not Spencer Dryden, not sure.
awesome recording. thank you
(1) Rock And Roll Woman - 0:00 (2) A Child’s Claim To Fame - 5:16 (3) Nowadays Even Clancy Can't Sing -- 7:45 (4) Uno Mundo -- 12:36 (5) For What It's Worth -- 15:10 (6) (Ballad Of The) Bluebird -- 18:21 Some observations: The musical mix of the instruments is to these ears wonderful (even if at times you can barely hear the singing). One of the best live renditions of Bluebird live in the original Herd era. Love the Tex-Mex sounds of the guitars throughout. NOTE: Even though it's Bruce that's pictured, of course it's Jim (Messina) playing bass guitar, as this was one of the final gigs The Herd did before their legendary final Long Beach concert on 5/5/1968.
omg GRACE SLICK the queen of rock and ROLL
One of the best ever.
A fine early Pooneil! Too bad about the early cutoff. But thanks!! Glad to see both Pooneil songs, too! "House on Pooneil Corner "still a song for the times, now more than ever.
1:55:10 Miracles
35:44 Miracles - Ruined by audience member clapping out of time.
Miracles 26:33 Unfortunately this entire audio file is fast. Gracie sounds like a duck.
So good
33:18 Run Away 1:24:10 Count on Me
Great job. Thanks
This is when Hot Tuna as heating up in the shadows. There's a blues rock heading underway at the outset with "Somebody to Love", followed by what I'm sure is a Kantner composition, that i never heard before, but dig. And there it is. One of our benefits as a society is to have access to some of the specific gigs that our favorite bands, known largely through the radio or private record collections, is now more widely available. Like here. "Wooden Ships". "Won't you try some of these purple berries, been eating them 6 or 7 weeks now, haven't got sick once. Probably keep us both alive." i was thinking about "Wooden Ships" yesterday in the midst of the blackberry season here in Seattle on an ezip750 excursion., and thought about what it was like to live in that as-younger Part of it all. 16:30 is illustrative to me of Jorma Kaukonen's indelible imprint on guitar playing at large. And specifically Innovatively operation oriented missions of flight, these Airplane Trips. Hearing "Blind John the guitar player", I'm reminded of a highly recognizable riff and as a violinist i think would be cool to play with the band at 25:40. This is a great gig! Kantner's golden age of song-writing and singing. Climb on down at 29:50 to "Come back baby, Talk it over, One more time" Oh Yeah. Thanks once again for bringing these gems to light.
Early Dead. Mistery of sounds
My First Rock Concert Buffalo Springfield at Cal Poly still the best show I’ve ever seen
Skynyrd would've been the highlight of that day. Very surprised they were not listed as the headliners. This JS show is sloppy as hell with a mostly horrible set list -- typical for them. They really resented singing their beautiful mid to late 70s hit songs, didn't they? Miracles was a trainwreck. But cheers for posting anyhow.
