The thing you guys are missing is that he's genuinely asking if it's worth it. Like being arrogant does have advantages. He's asking if it is worth the damage in his character it could cause.

@@shanereid5292 I know, which is why in a way I feel sorry for him. He was blind to the fact that there is more to being a surgeon than what people think of them. In a way Shaun knew that. I hope that Dr. Han would redeem himself after he sees how far Shaun has gone later on

I'm glad that American TV is finally bringing this adaptation to life, and shedding light on autism. I know this series is going to be amazing.
Melendez has come a long way from this moment. From not thinking of Shaun as part of the team, to be gaining full on acceptance of him.

i tried to watch it.. the korean version isn't nearly as heartbreaking as this one.. it's filled with annoying and cringy korean drama situations and misunderstandings... and the concept of the underestimated young genius doctor is as strong there as in any other korean drama like Romantic doctor kim or that one with the north korean doctr.... No.. if you see only one episode of this, the other version will look like shit.

Everyone should be watching -The Good Doctor,I have seen the Korean version of this drama twice its that good,the American writer's have done the show justice.This drama shines a light on Autism and teaches us that we can achieve whatever we set our mind to ,thank you ABC

I like that quality in his character. some doctors keep their patients on edge not telling them directly whats wrong with them. Shaun always seems to come straight out and not beat round the bush. and in a way..forgive me...he reminds me of Jesus i.e. giving the prognosis before the results even come in

Zeema as someone with Autism myself, thank you for saying this… we are always seen as a problem and weirdos while we can't help it, we may also be gifted some of us aren't but still we realise that we don't need to be affraid to ask help as even people without Autism do, people sadly don't realise that if they have a hard time doing something we might have it even worse on the same problem, and when we ask help as an Autistic person we're seen as dumb losers who should be kept at home as we are no good to a lot of people which makes us even feel worse, yet I may be happy that some people understand our struggles, even though I barely show emotions as I feel that mine are pointless as I barely get help or get listened to while I try to help everyone, I have it hard to not have to blink away a tear of happiness that I know that there are still people who try to understand us so of the bottom of my heart, I thank you for the very few nice words you wrote in your comment

Seems kind of inconsistent with the character as played throughout the first 10 episodes to have Shaun be so insightful about arrogance.

It feels so demeaning when we're put down because of our different way of learning and thinking. Being out in such a terrible position tells us that we can't do anything. We gotta be strong in order to convince ourselves that we're so much more. So to everyone who puts down everyone with autism because they're different, lemme ask you, is it worth it? Is it worth the time and resources to push away someone who could be your last and only hope?

I am glad Shaun did not back off but rather took a step towards the lead surgeon Verbally. Put his own arrogance back on him in question form. Make him THINK about his own asshole-ness.

It’s crazy because these are the same doctors that will tell parents that their child’s diagnosis won’t change anything. That they can still live a normal life. Then turn around and treat somebody with that diagnosis like this.

I really hated Melendez in the first few episodes 😅
ive worked in the OR... lets just say that this scene, where a newcomer confronts a hot-shot resident AND THE RESIDENT TAKES IT IN STRIDE and does NOT have a Category 5, instrument throwing tantrum, .... is the most unrealistic thing I've ever seen in any Hollywood depiction of the OR by an enormous margin including scenes that depict paranormal events during surgery. Surgeons, especially talented ones, are complete babies and I've never met one who could tolerate even a hint of Non-Worship by anyone in their suite at any time.

If any teaching attendings acts like this to a resident, The ACGME will have his ass suspended the next day. It doesn't work this way.
suppressing the urge to make a political comment with regards to the so called head doctor's statement in regards to not belong and certain leaderships , and moving on I love Shawn can say that to his boss, but how the heck is he comfortable delivering questions, and not on the receiving end?
Hope they keep the original line of the Kdrama for Doctor Arrogant, it would be better than just him being a D-head.
