It's a good video, Really good video actually explaining wave control and how to win your lane. But just because you win lane doesn't equal a won game, There is so much macro knowledge that this guy has being challenger that isn't shown post laning phase which in lower elo really shows up to win/lose games, Depending on your knowledge of it. I'd love to hear what this guy does post laning phase and how to keep your lead and use it.

Also as you would notice, not much jungle action happening on mid, so there is a huge part missed out on how you position in the lane in regards to the enemy jungler's location(jungle tracking), paying attention to your jungler, etc. Still a great video with important concept to learn
it's best for low elo players to learn one concept at a time and keep the rest for other video(s)

Try to get the first pick and ban some toplaner. They will not expect you in the mid lane
Because his stat is inherently skewed. Pick rates are based off both teams, so just cut whatever pick rate you see in half
You are the mele there. Try going Ahri and you'll see the insane amount of fizz sylas zed yasuos yones in mid. They all fear renekton that's why you dont see them

The wave doesn't actually always push towards you after you crash it into tower. This is because if your team is ahead, your minions will be stronger and that can stop the slow push from happening. Doesn't happen early in lane but once a few towers are gone it does

Man, can we stop preaching this whole "you only need to master this ONE thing" stuff that every video seems to be about? Improving at this game is not easy and it's getting tiring seeing so much content pretending it is.
Every example in this video showcases that there is so much more at play that just "play off your wave".
Ryze gets chunked and a pot forced by Yi crossing mid, then when you Q him he doesn't just root you and auto to proc phase rush and run away; then he dies with flash up. The only reason he's stepping up is cause he wants to try gain the minion lead again to stop you from doing what this video is teaching, which he'd have been able to do perfectly well if Yi hadn't turned up to chunk him.
Annie didn't take E at level 2 and also didn't W you as soon as you landed from your E, there's really no reason she should ever let you proc electrocute if she's taking W. Trade is way more one-sided than it has any right to be. Meanwhile you're dodging all of her stuff with good E usage and movement and timing it out so she has no stun as you hit 3. You actually mess up the level timing by walking back for the CS but since you mechanically outplayed her and she decided to just walk into your Q range you can just chunk her. You don't even have a minion advantage here, the E dodge on her Q and bait on her W is what won this lane - nothing to do with wave management.
ASol's 80% winrate means absolutely nothing since he's played exactly 9 games of that champion. Not gonna overstate it but this is a pretty dang good match up for Fizz too. ASol honestly sprints this entire lane; lets you Q him for absolutely 0 reason, gets flash burned by Nunu after (I assume) warding for exactly that, doesn't recall immediately after to TP back. There isn't really any wave management tricks going on here, he literally just does every single thing wrong and gets ganked on top of it.
The "I still won my lane off the exact same strategy and concepts" vs Irelia feels extremely tone deaf. The dodge on the E while still getting the last hit is ridiculously good movement/spacing that stopped you from getting hard traded on. She randomly leaves and misses 2 minions worth of XP (????), if she hadn't she would have hit 4 when she tried to Q the melee minion (and failed???), and likely would have been able to force you to back off if she uses W well. Then on the cannon wave she just randomly Ws for 2 backline creeps? Then she just rage all-ins you and should die if you attack move into her more. Then saying "see? I'm making mistakes too" when her mistakes are so egregiously worse and more frequent than yours is, just, ????????
Absolutely none of these lanes were won because of some crazy wave manipulation strategy; you won because you played trades either correctly or close enough to it vs players that did not know how to do that at all.
"Its as simple as playing safe during the rebound", but you literally just said if a ranged champion plays safe you can just roam with prio? Surely this is a lose/lose situation for the ranged player since no matter what you either get chunked and maybe die or give full lane control to an assassin? Why would anyone play ranged champions if this is the inevitable outcome?
Final point, there is so much of this video that is Fizz specific. If you tried doing those level 2/3 trades you did on Annie with any other assassin you would be hard losing those trades. Fizz amplifies the "take bad trades, as long as they get below lethal" style since he is WAY less likely to get return killed if he's below their lethal; Playful/Trickster absolutely warps the way he's able to play certain lanes.
This game is difficult and pretending that these lanes were all won by some easy-to-remember "ONE wave management rule" is giving people the wrong ideas about the game and hurting their ability to improve at it.
Core Message: While Melee, engage during rebound. Play safe while enemy is pushing.
This is EXACTLY how I beat ranged top laners. And I don't play a dash-y champion top; I play Illaoi.

i like playing talon jungle, but as a melee mid i think it would be different from fizz since he doesnt really have a lvl 3 spell ?
All this tells me is that you'll encounter smurfs in nearly all of your games.

What i learned climbing to diamond? It's easier to climb when you're not constantly playing vs 30 lvl fresh accounts with 80 or 90% WR on their champs. Ofc they're mostly junglers or midlaners. The 50% WR force system is a problem too. I hit P II 90 LP with like 100 wins starting at silver this season with like 62% WR. Then suddenly i lost like 15 games in a row. All were stomps like 30 deaths bot lane or inting toplaners. If your mmr goes lower its way harder to climb than with fresh account.
4 years ago, i climbed up to Diamond III, and i quit. Now, i'm playing again but i got the same problem as you mentioned. I lost a few games in a row, and now my games sucks. botlane inting, or a nonsense tops. Not matter how much i try or arrass my enemies, always my team do iron things. I'm trying to take it easy but sometimes i'ts hard to endure.
You can also use this strategy when you're in top lane.

Simply because someone is the most picked laner in a HUGE sample size like all games does not mean you will face those matchups more often unless you ALSO play a huge number of games. Think about flipping a coin. If you flip a coin 10 times it's unlikely you will have exactly 5 tails and 5 heads. However, if you flip it 1000 times it's more likely you are close to that average. With my main champ I have around 60 games. Only 10 of those (or around 15% are against melee champs). However, I have around 30-40 games against traditional mages. The other 10ish games are against weird niche / troll picks. Interested to see where the rest of the video goes but this isn't a strong opening statement given it could drastically influence the way people approach the game and in a way that will distract them from what they are much more likely to see (unless they play tons of games).
Yeah, I finished this guide. This is much more of a how to win against mages as melee which I think will be useful for melee champ players but less useful as a mage unless you happen to get the outcome of having a lot of games against melee champs. This could also be summed up with the phrase that they mentioned which is don't fight against the push of the lane. Regardless of being melee or ranged this is generally a bad idea and will cause you to lose.
Now I want know how to trade with heimerdinger safe using a melee champ
You just can't that champ is awful even when you are a range mid, better roam and farm under tower that thing is ungankable

Nope. The whole secret is to play sometin different than adc role. Pick champ that can 1v9 and hope enemy are more braindead than your teammates.
Think your maths is off with the pick rates.
Melees have 80% pick rate but theres two midlaners in the game so theres more like 40% chance your enemy is playing a melee
Their math is correct. If what you said was the case, then there's only a 10% chance you're playing against a ranged champion, which adds up to a 50% chance of not playing against anything.

The ahri + Viktor pickrate is above 20%. Add all the opgg pickrates together and you'll get 120% ranged 80% melee (roughly, probably changed since video was recorded)

If you have a bigger wave top you usually win fights unless matchup is unplayable

I get it, but... fizz has a tool to engage, what if i'm garen vs teemo top, i can't even get to him since he'll be faster than me until i get stride... what can i do in this situation? Also more often than not he'll poke me so hard while i'm last hitting under tower that i can't even think to engage
Garen vs Teemo is actually very playable, but it was a learning moment for me to play it correctly. Use exactly the idea at the beginning - give up whatever CS you need to, just stay healthy. Farm under tower, and regen health otherwise. Hit level 6, then Flash Q Ignite E R that Teemo. Congrats, you've won lane, and can now get plates, take their jg camps, etc.
@@SoulTrain101 yeah but that's the thing, i need flash to have a chance and someyimes by the time i hit 6, i'm tok far behing in items/ miney to have a fighting chance, it's playable, but it's hard af against a good teemo that knows how to space and even if i kill him once he stilk wind until i got flash again, or maybe stride
@@xXsergentXx1 with Garen's passive and tankiness, this really isn't a problem. Giving up early cs is the game itself for melee into ranged. Learning how to use bush, manage waves, and punish teemo will get you far in everything under Diamond elo

What I learned climbing to masters next
Honestly if you didnt OTP Fizz you wouldnt be able to do half of these things. You cant dive that safely with other champion, you dont have that much mobility to get in and out with another champion + aa steroid. Sylas or Zed just go in and cant get out, and can get outplayed under tower and havily punished for trading in front of wave on their way back
You have to punish Fizz as much as you can before level e and then play from as far as possible from him, or ban the b1tch
The more I learn about league, the more I understand its a tactical game of minions, vision and gold; not kills and teamfights.
In the end just having good wave control, understanding what you can do to reacquire gold, and take objectives really changes the amount of control you have over a game.
Vision helps objectives which wins you teamfights, gold helps you be strong, and wave management gets you towers and gold leads to win the game.
Now I only wish league was better at teaching this sort of thing

I hate it but it's true you are winning your lane and suddenly the jungler or the losing botlane decide to come mid and feed the enemy mid. It's hard no to get tilted when they do that
its so easy to hit plat within a day when you have a fresh account, how about you try it with a hardstuck iron account? or maybe hardstuck gold (even worse in my opinion) cuz the LP gain will be so low

What I got from this video is that the enemy is trolling most of the time even in diamond, so just abuse their mistakes

And they aren't that bad. Fizz is a disgusting stron laner, so he wins almost all matchups. And irelia even being included.
Counterpicks are only a problem, if you play mages, where some matchups are actually unplayable. Shit like kassadin into Irelia, yasuo, pantheon,, yone, Zed, neeko... or
Syndra into fizz, zed, yasuo, .... For example.
And Ornn, Galio to name a few. Ornn is 100% unplayable

I hope you remember there is 2 mid laners in one game. That's means if you add up the pick rate of melee and ranged champs, it should be 200% not 100%. 79.8% meaning you will only face melee for ~40% of your game, which is not more than ranged matchup.

This is just fundamentals of wave management. That is definitely not the one thing that´s bringing you from bronze to diamond. It much more comes down to your mechanics, how good you can play those aggressive trades once your wave bounces. Just knowing when doesn´t help you actually pulling it off. I have thousands of games with Udyr, but I've never bothered to upgrade the stupid mastery token. I'm not wasting APM to pretend I'm good at the game.
This game has been rigged for years, the rank system is artificial, the
matchmaking is purposely unfair to artificially stuck players (no matter what is their skill level), so they never reach their objective and keep playing. It's an Engagement optimized
matchmaking (EOMM).
The game is trash and still popular cuz of streamer
and pro scene that are artificially boosted in a ladder that seems mystically unclimbable.

bro if thats the case you sac wave and go help, may not be the best play but in solo q its worth keeping the game stable by tyring to cover for your allies mistakes. I wouldnt do this though if you have no escape or the enemy champs is very early game. Catching the wave and winning lane and carrying is often times the better choice. Just a judgement call. If your jg mental implodes then ff and move on.
