I feel like 2 sizes up is more accurate. I'm a 34" and 36" belts only get me to the second belt loop. You should be on the third belt hole for a nice look. SO now I stick with 38"
So confused right now. 1,5 inch is pretty wide for a dressbelt. Just measured my casual belt which comes at 1,5 inches and is quite wide. My dressbelt is 1.25 inch. Btw blonde looks good on you.
Did she actually say to Tommy, "Thank you for having me."? OK, Tommy, come clean with us. Was this a slip of the tongue or the reason you look a bit tired?
The proper width of a dress belt is 1.25" Casual is 1.5".... 1.75" or wider is for pirates. For those of you having trouble getting the correct belt size when buying online you need to measure your "actual' waist size. You cannot use the number on the the label of your pants, this is almost always 1 to 3 inches smaller than your real waist size. (vanity sizing) For example... I typically wear a 34 or 36 waist size on the label of my trousers but my actual waist size is 38. If a belt is measured from the center hole to where it attaches to the buckle then a 38 will fit me. A word of caution though. Some belt makers will measure the belt from the very end of the buckle to the center hole. (A more accurate measure.) If this is the case you typically add 1" to the length. So I would want a 39" belt If measured this way.
The men's dress belts are meant t be 1.25 inches wide and casual belts 1.5 inches wide. The video advice is *not* correct. If you insert 1.5 inch belt into business trousers you will see it is too wide. So 1.5 inches is good for jeans and chinos only but 1.25 inch will also look good on jeans and chinos as well as on business/formal trousers.
The sizing for the belt isnt always as easy has pant size plus a size. For example i have a 36" pant size but the tape will show you a 44" measurement, in that case i get 46" belts, gets me the middle hole.
I refuse to wear a belt that's more than 1.25" wide. Brooks Brothers makes a nice dress belt - a true dress belt - in black, dark brown, and burgundy. Sorry Ashley, but you're wrong. Wider belts are ugly. Now, if I were a farmer, I might need a substantial belt to hold up my dungarees-overalls. Or perhaps if I were a maitre 'd, I could wear a wide belt in lieu of a cummerbund. But otherwise, no, no, no.
So short it doesn't look nice, the belt should cover almost all the width of the waist when you look from the front. It's also more likely that you'll get fatter than thinner. To the belt manufacturers: don't be lazy, make more holes!
Ashley you say casual belts should be between 1.75 and 2 inches wide, yet all the casual belts you show here and recommend in your article are like 1 3/8 inches wide (so not even 1.5 inch) ?
I would love to see how should you pose in a picture (not instagram model like *There's enough videos on that*) but like casual pictures. It's an issue I personally find difficulty with.
I am curious as to how much leather should be left past the buckle for a dress belt? I recently purchased a dress belt one a size bigger than I wear and was barely on the third notch, fourth if I really stretch it. Any advice?
If the belt fits you correctly ie. your using the center hole of five holes and the belt has 1" spacing for the holes then the tail of the belt should be 5" long from the last hole (or first hole.) This in my opinion looks best. 4" is acceptable however if you gain weight and move to the second hole on the belt the tail will be to short.
So I am a 33" in pants and then I'll get a 35" belt. But from where do I measure? From the 3th hole to the buckle. But does this include the buckle or not?
Shes not being super clear and right about it i suggest going 2 up this 1.25 thing is rubbish to some people yes if your a 34 waist get a 36 belt or if your a 36 waist get a 38 belt its called the 2 thumb rule your belt must be 2 inchs bigger than your waist therefore going 2 up in belt not pants its just incase you go from a 36 waist to a 38 then if your a 38 go for a 40 or 42 all tho i hear 42 belt is a bit to big
But likewise don't worry if you do go 2 sizes up and the belt is to big for your waist then if your a 34 waist get a 34 belt if it does make you look a bit silly then be brave and try and cut it to make it fit the way you want it to but in theory my dad wore a 34 jean with a 34 belt and he was a 32 waist still looked hella fresh tho
Lol prolly won't reply ot this comment but the last tiem i responded to your comment i seemed to be a bit wrong so ok usally most belts will come with 5 holes of adjustment i usually like 5 hole belts because it makes a belt look more tidier then most but the holes you wanna aim for out of those 5 would be the center 3 like i said in my before comment anything out of those 3 center's so for example if you use the 1st hole or 5th hole likewise consider jumping or or down if the belt/pants is the problem
@@ChickenArad1 probably the 2nd its gonna leave a small amount of length left and it won't reach the 2nd belt loop but if you use the 4th then it will reach it comes down to your opinion 👍🏼

There is no way you want a suit belt to be 1.5" wide, that is more the size you'd wear with jeans.

yeah, think she is incorrect on that aspect
My express belt is 1.25 inch wide and its a dress belt 1.5 seems big what gives
She seems to be confused alot in her videos

You should also have mentioned when it's proper to wear a belt with a big buckle (Diesel, Gucci, etc.).
The answer is never.
They're gaudy.
Dictator Caesar lol gaudy
Maybe thats why she didnt mention it..haha
I like my Gucci belt ( it ain’t real though) I ain’t spending 300$ on a belt
The answer is everybody wears what they like and your opinion is worth jack shit for people wearing belts like Hermes or Salvatorre.
Did she actually say to Tommy, "Thank you for having me."? OK, Tommy, come clean with us. Was this a slip of the tongue or the reason you look a bit tired?
In addition to the video, the first and last hole on the belt should never be used. Great video!

Exactly and a thinner smaller man should probably go to a 1" width.
I really enjoyed looking up your nostrils into your brain. Good info.
I can't even find those belt widths. Are you sure this measurement is correct? Everything is closer to 1.25 inches.

Why does this look like the beginning of a porn scene
Also, when shopping at a store, the size it says (32") indicate the size at the middle hole of the belt.

Yeah it can get confusing

You obviously dress guys that are thin and good looking what about us regular guys. Not skinny ,not fat, just normal.
“Thanks for having me”. 🤣 Little bit of tension here, and no I’m not referring to belt tension.
1.5” is super wide for a formal dress belt. It should be between 1.25” to 1.375”.
I would like an application to become a model on your show.
The dude was so handsome she couldn't talk LOL 💀
Felipe ashley couldn't control her emotions it is obviously showing when her models are handsome.

Tommy definitely not read your V necks Do's and Don'ts, because he knows not the wear a collared shirt with a crewneck

She said celebrity
2" doesn't fit into most of my jeans. And You recommend belts which are 1 3/8" wide as casual belts. So what's the deal with this "2" rule"?
Think that's fair, I wear a size 36 jeans and a 38 belt.
No we don't know what belt size to get. You just get a stupid style of belt to get.
My size 36' belt is 42" inches long, wtf?
If you're buy designer belts make sure it's atleast 35mm
the belt at 1:10 is from Saint Laurent. It doesn't fit with normal people, it fits with celebrities or someone who is really fashionable !
Thanks a lot, I've learned what size of belt should i buy..
Who is this guy he is much handsomer than the other guys

I'm a monster. Neither the 85, nor the 90cm belt fit right on my body. 😱😭
I don’t understand nothing you said... this is not helpful at all
she can't wait to open finally that belt :-)
I'm going to be spending a lot of money on a belt, which I'm purchasing online. Thank you so much for this information!!! :D

Ashley - I'm 5'6" does your rule for the width of the belt still applies? Or should I go 1 1/4" for formal and 1 1/2" for casual.
Thanks for that quick guide! I'm never sure what size to get. What else you got in this channel? gonna explore ;)
Huh? I wear a 34 pant size, but I got a size 36 Ralph Lauren belt and it is WAY too small.
Ralph Lauren belts must be undersize & made in China to maximize profit.
Thanks great video btw
But what about the Gucci belts? There wide
a little bit confused, I thought that cassual starts from 1,4 inch

Yep it does xd
Belts do expand & becomes elongated in use so a 32 belt in d long run becomes 33 or more depending on d leather type.
Ashley, doesnt look good doesnt look good ? :-? :D
Cringe.
She should stop fidgetting
