I've been in this house before. Then I stepped through that 12 foot high door, and life was instantly transformed in a second. All thoughts of dark and dreary were soon put to flight. Beautifully charming, that huge staircase jumps right out at you screaming "CLASS"! Suddenly, there was a feeling of peace and Love, and content. There's something good here, I remember thinking.

I do hope the kids have fun who can stop by though (assuming she’s doing Halloween of course ^_~)

Girl, you better invest in some high quality water filters. This town has boil water advisories every couple of months. Kudos to you for making this town seem a lot nicer than it is.
I second this. The tap water here destroys coffee makes and washing machines. You can’t really drink it so have water delivered. The water was literally brown for a few months. Get filters installed ASAP.
I was looking at some of the real estate around there to see the vintage houses and was surprised how cheap they are! Is there not a lot of jobs or industry there?
Kat M not really... The area has been struggling a bit for decades. We're in a region informally known as The Rust Belt. However, there has been a lot of initiative recently to boost the local economy and preserve a rather cool history 🤷🏻♀️ There are lots of really beautiful and inspiring old homes around here, some needing more love than others lol
She could also get water conditioning units. Probably a water softener. She probably would need an iron and sulfur filtration device and then a reverse osmosis unit for drinking water. The other units to condition water are important because sulfur and iron will kill an RO unit.

I would also like to say this: We have a pretty big stray cat problem in this area..I wouldn't be surprised if you get a few of them prowling around the place, if you're able to, want to take any in, be careful, some of them have FIV, it would be best to bring them to a vet before exposing them to any of your cats. And unfortunately you can't just bring them straight to the humane society due to a contract with animal control having to be the ones to bring them there. (To which case they mostly don't) there's also an issue with the water main quite often needing to be fixed. (They replace parts of it but the entirety of the system is very old, so don't be surprised if you get a bunch of days with disgusting orange water, it's best to keep jugs of water with you)
@@lilyoh5780 I wish they would, but the board proved recently that they don't care so much. They tried to vote a removal of a connection to the humane society because the "stray cat problem wasn't as bad" (a big lie, they just wanted to cut funding) the vote didn't go through, but it shows that they really didn't care.
@@mlr4524 You have to call the police station, who gets in contact with animal control who then gets in contact with the "dog warden" who is in control of the stray cats and dogs in this place, the only one the humane society is contracted under. There are rescues around, but they're all filled. Places like Springfarm cares stopped taking in stray cats from this county, basically all the local rescue places stopped taking in cats. Believe me, I've tried reaching out for years.
Nothing compares when you have your own peculiar way of living and you actually make it work for you ❤ the world conspires on our behalf!! Congratulations 🍾
would you ever consider making the california home available for a bed and breakfast type of business? just throwing that out there cause I think that house is so charming!
I live in upstate new york, if you're nearby I really recommend walking around Albany rural cemetery, especially in the fall. It is the resting place of several famous people, including president Chester a Arthur and general Phillip Schuyler. And it's so. Freaking. Beautiful. I have some pictures on my instagram that I took a few years ago, my handle is @giannalovvey. There are so many pretty victorian angel statues to look at. Sometimes, I would go just to look at the names on the tombstones and see what I could find about them online, for a few people, I'd find documents with actual quotes from them in historical local newspapers and such that someone scanned and uploaded online. It really makes it feel like you are sitting down and having a picnic with them, and considering the fact that no one really visits their graves anymore, I like to give them a bit of company.
@@twincherry4958 I had one incident where a photo of one of the angel statues I took came out distorted and weird, but I'm not sure if that was a rare technical problem or what. Other than that, no visits from spirits at home, I always get a very warm, welcoming feeling when I go there so I don't think anyone is mad at me. Lol. I'd like to think that if there are spirits around, that they enjoy my company.

Beautifully charming, that huge staircase jumps right out at you screaming "CLASS"! Suddenly, there was a feeling of peace and Love, and content. There's something good here, I remember thinking.
Omg its everything!
Or it also reminds me a ton of the house from The Haunting Of Hill House!
turning the old house into a bed and breakfast would be a good idea! that way you can keep the house, make money off it, and share it with people who will appreciate the time and effort you put into making it beautiful! just a thought.
It used to be one! Many of these old homes in Upstate along the Erie Canal are B&B's now.
That wwould be an excellent idea for normal people.... But Miss Christine has 12,000 Patreon members who fund her every month!

Wow! Such a cool story, Christine! Can’t believe you bought such a spooky mansion sight, unseen! Its especially cool for us, as we literally live a few hundred steps away from the property! We can’t wait to see what you do with the mansion and all of its spookiness. Welcome to the neighborhood!
Hi Amanda, Its Thomas Shepherd. So cool to see my family home in good hands!
Are there some good ghosts? 😀
When I saw she said upstate NY I was teasing my fiancé about “I wanna go trick or treating at Christine’s!” Sadly we’re not actually upstate (though out of towners who think anything that isn’t NYC is upstate say otherwise) and are a few hours away from her. I do hope the kids have fun who can stop by though (assuming she’s doing Halloween of course ^_~)
I literally live thousands of steps from the property. Someone from Japan literally lives millions of steps and a plane ride. Who cares about literally anything. Just say I live a few hundred steps away. So many people are adding this one words it’s grossly overused.

There are so many gorgeous Victorian homes in Upstate NY, my hometown is located there definitely my most favorite place to be
My 8 year old daughter has seen every one of your episodes and is one of your very biggest fans. She legitimately Googled how far New York is from where we live and was like "MOM, IT'S ONLY LIKE 7 HOURS AWAY! WE COULD BRING HER A HOUSEWARMING GIFT"
So just know that you inspire an 8 year old girl so much that she wants us to take a 14 hour round trip to deliver you a present to congratulate you on moving to the East Coast. 🤣
After seeing the realtor sign and recognizing the area code as one used in my area, I realized she’s only about two hours from me now! I’m sure she’s going to love it. Upstate/Western NY is such a beautiful area. Makes me sad that people only think of NYC when they think of New York because of how beautiful the rest of the state really is.
That is so sweet!
@@marlarosso Honestly, isn't it? She's hoping that Christine will host or appear at some ticketed events once covid is done. If she does, we are taking a much needed girl's weekend and GOING. My little Abby- Mae would be so happy!
@@thecreatedvoid117 I'm just above Fort Drum in the North Country and my family back in Ohio can't believe we have Amish communities and dairy farms up here. NYC steals the spotlight, but the vineyards and bays and lakes are really where it's at!

And now we wait for all the ghost stories that shall come from this house.
I can’t wait!!
Hearing Christine McConnell, lady of magic and mystery, saying "oh shit".
If 2020 gave us nothing else, it gave us this. Small gifts.
Did you see how the video glitched when she said "sh*t"??
That was freaky.

I enjoyed seeing this all over again-can’t believe it’s been two years! You make the most mundane things magical.
"looking nice for the ghosts when we first arrive" Oh my gosh I love this woman.
So glad you're keeping the CA house! I was heartbroken when I first started the video, seeing you potentially sell something so beautiful that you put so much hard work into is a hard thought lol
Oh now I know why some yt have water delivered because they literally can’t drink it. I’m in city/country but our water is great.
Oh my god! I thought houses like this only existed in the movies these days!!! Jaw dropping house. Also NY is so much more green and lush than I thought. Guess I've only ever seen footage of NYC but this really took me by surprise!
Thats what ive heard, I live at most 30 Minutes from this house. Upstate new york is truly beautiful, from the Catskill Mountains to the Adirondacks. A lot of people think that it is cities and no scenery but we have over 1500 lakes and sights to behold. Check it out sometime when you can.
@@chandlerpatterson7665 that sounds beautiful. Yes I have to say I have never fancied NYC as it looks so busy and concrete but visiting outside sounds like a completely different experience, and a really interesting one.
@@chandlerpatterson7665 the Adirondacks are beautiful but I hate when tourists or people on vacation come here. The traffic is terrible on holidays and in the summer
I’ve lived in different parts of New York State my entire life....it is mostly small towns with lakes and mountain ranges, river valleys and of course the large metropolitan area of New York City. HeyyBrey - same here. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇦🇺🐨
(They replace parts of it but the entirety of the system is very old, so don't be surprised if you get a bunch of days with disgusting orange water, it's best to keep jugs of water with you)
oh no, hopefully someone can start a neutering program soon :(
These problems are so common in small towns across America. It's like they have all been forgotten by the big cities.
Never trust Animal Control. There are animal rescue folks working behind the scenes everywhere. Just search and reach out.
*It looks spooky and magical* 🖤
So glad you were able to keep both houses! Look forward to the spooky October projects. Congratulations!📯♥️
My fiancé works on the campus that hosts Fort Schuyler. Since that’s the sister’s daddy referenced in Hamilton, I often just call it “Fort Daddy.”
I have been to that cemetery many times. It is so beautiful!
Lmao...really! Do you not get visited by spirits after those visits...
Oakwood in Troy, too!

@pumpkinpatch1059 yup she sold it a while ago according to the realtor. I also think that even with a salary like that it's only wise to sell this liability, especially if your momentary lifestyle includes renovating a massive Victorian mansion😂
