Fun fact: My Great- Great Grandfather was an artisan craftsman at The Breakers. I lived in Canada ( my family is from Pennsylvania) and had no knowledge of this fact until AFTER I returned home from a trip to Boston. While in Boston, I saw a pamphlet on the Breakers and basicly forced our family to go out of our way to see it. One of the most pleasant surprises of my life was to find out that my Grandfather's Grandfather had a literal hand in creating that stunning masterpiece!
My favorite “special touch” happened at a luxurious resort. They did several things during the turn down service, but my favorite part was that they placed a small booklet, measuring approximately 5“ x 4“, that contained probably 50 pages of various bedtime stories for adults organized by different genres and themes. Each story was designed to be read to completion before going to sleep because they were short, about 6 pages long each. I thought that was an impressively creative and thoughtful gesture! And during my stay, I was able to read every story in the booklet. They were all wonderful!
@@sharyllee7094 it was a book the resort had put together and had professionally published. So it was not something a person could purchase from Amazon, for example.
@@sharyllee7094 it was not a fancy booklet that you could purchase anywhere, and I am not sure if it was professionally published. My impression was that the booklet was something put together by the resort.
My mom and I use to go once every other year on a mother daughter trip together. She’s too frail for that now, she’s 88 and not in great health. I treasure those memories.
Christine’s videos are so (understandably) rare that I almost don’t want to watch them upon release. I’ll sit on this one as though it were a golden egg and wait for the perfect dreich day to snuggle.
Thank you for letting us join your adventure. The mansions are stunning! I don't understand how people think it's alright to want to tear down these amazing buildings. Thankfully the one you visited, was saved. It's good to see you again.
I met and sat next to your Mom on a flight back home to California and so enjoyed talking with her. She is such a sweetheart and so proud of you. As she was talking about you, you sounded so familiar. I looked at my UA-cam subscriptions And sure enough it was you! We laughed and enjoyed that so much. You both are delightful - keep up the great content!♥️
Watching your show on Netflix has become a fall tradition in our house. Love you Christine, thank you for bringing your incredible wonder to all of us! 💕
Same with us too! My children and I love watching it every year and often throughout . We also purchased her cook book. Wonder delicious and naughty fun ideas that are so appealing for the family.
Your mom’s wedding photos were stunning!! She looked like a movie star!! I can see you in her face. Ive never been to that area, but I am dying to go! You have inspired me ❤ We always stayed in Motel 6’s or 8’s when I was a kid. So I totally get how crazy it is to stay in a fancy hotel! It’s a treat, and I appreciate it more so because of my childhood!
What a beautiful video ! Don’t sell yourself short Christine , your beautiful home is so much more than a Cracker Jack box ! ❤ the love and work you put into your home shows !
I love the horse & carriage soundtrack while you were driving around. That was great. This reminded me of childhood trips to cape cod and Provincetown. Those were horseshoe crabs you saw.
I recommend you stay at the Nathaniel Lord Mansion in Kennebunkport, Maine sometime. I worked there as a housekeeper. It’s a historic mansion built in 1812 by a ship builder. There is a charming gift shop in the basement and a widow’s watch that is allegedly haunted. It’s absolutely stunning at Christmastime.
Hello Christine, I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but there's the Carey Mansion / SeaView Terrace which is also beautiful. The Dark Shadows series was filmed inside the mansion. It is also a Gilded Age mansion.
Thank you for sharing your trip. I love your commentary; it makes me want to travel and see these places for myself. The horse noises for the car travel were the chef's kiss. Please make more of these travel videos. I would gladly watch them.
The thought of someplace like the Elms being demolished by a developer makes my chest contract with actual physical pain. You couldn’t pay me enough to destroy something so beautiful, the mind boggles how people can so casually do things like this 😵💫
I took my mom to Newport several years ago, not too long before we found out she had a very aggressive form of dementia. She passed four months ago. I'm so glad we had that time together, we had a blast!
I am so very sorry that you have suffered this loss. I lost my mother (Christine's Grandmother) 34 years ago and it's still the greatest loss I have ever endured. Take care of yourself and allow time to help you rebalance your life.
Yes please! Always take us along when you travel with your lovely mother and share the stunning homes. Loved this trip. Those cute little creatures are horseshoe crabs. They shed their shells, I have a collection of their "skeletons!"
Love anything you create, you make it so special. I also love anything from days gone by. I grew up on Cape Ann so there is lots of old homes and mansions, even castles I have always loved to roam around in. My primary school was in one of them, so for 8 years it was like home. My mom, who would be 105 years old was a fashionesta in her day and an expert seamstress. It's fun to see you 'wear her clothes' and accessories, and you look very similar in many ways. Anyway so enjoyed this episode !
A few days ago I was reading about this mansion called Rose Cliff. The grand staircase was made to look like a heart shape. As you enter the hall you can see it does resemble a heart ❤
I lost my mom a couple years ago and this reminded me of fun trips I went on with her and the ones we never got to do so thank you for sharing such wonderful memories with your wonderful mom! 🤗💙
I'm so glad you brought us along on your trip, with your beautiful Mom. The Inns you stayed at, as well as the places you visited were wonderful. Yes, cherish the times you spend with your Mom. My Mom and I were attached at the hip. I miss her and glad I had that time with her. Please, take us along again.
20 years ago, or so, my mother and I did a tour of Newport and had an amazing time. Mrs. Astor's Beachwood was a house museum that had actors playing members of the Astor family and staff who would show you around the house. You had to play the game with them that you were party guests coming the next evening but wanted to see the house after it's renovations after a fire. It was a great time, I loved it. Sad that now it's a private residence and no longer a museum.
I love this!! One of my all-time favorite hobbies is touring castles and places and mansions. Especially if you can manage to go in an off-time and be almost alone on the tour!! My husband and I recently toured the Crane Estate outside of Boston and that one was gorgeous as well. I'd love to see more of your mansion tours!
Just want to say how much I enjoy all your videos, they are a special treat. A while back I took a trip with my daughter to see the Winchester Mansion. As a bonus I knew your rendition of The mansion you created out of (I believe gingerbread) was hopefully still there. I was disappointed to hear that the display was taken down a few days before we got there. We still had a wonderful time and when we came home we saw your work of art again. You really did capture the mansion with memorable details . So special Thank you!
You favor your mom so much so you will know, without a doubt, you will be beautiful when you're older. She is lovely. This trip looks like it was such fun.

This was wonderful Christine. My late grandmother loved all things elegant and over the top. Your mom is so lovely and I'm glad you all are going on these adventures together. 🌞
I absolutely loved this! Thank you so much for sharing. Next June, I'm taking a mommy and me trip with my teen daughter to Salem ahead of her starting her senior year of high school. I'm also hoping to do a mommy and me trip with my mom to Savannah. My mom has been struggling with her health, so I'm hoping we'll be able to make the trip. I called her yesterday to tell her I think it would be fun if we made the trip by train so we can enjoy the scenery and make it a full adventure. I think these kinds of experiences are invaluable.
✨I love spending time with my Mother so so much and that bond between a daughter and her Mother is just so special and it just grows stronger and stronger as you both grow older…it really warms my heart watching this beautiful trip your sharing✨
I'm so happy you got to go on the trip with your Mom. You'll look back and treasure the memories. What a beautiful part of the country! We'll have to tuck it in the places we want to see list! Love from Memphis, TN!
AW!! I've always wanted to travel by stagecoach!! So happy to see these beautiful homes and Inns preserved! We as Americans have lost so much of our history unlike other countries! My daughter and granddaughter and I toured the Biltmore house and gardens in N, Carolina this spring!
One of my favorite things about this video is the sound of horses clip clopping along the way. Thank you for sharing this adventure with your mom with us! So lovely. Can’t wait to see what it inspires you to do with us.
My mom and I use to do trips like that, and go see historic houses in whatever city we were in. I miss her so much. I would have loved to have shown her the Newport mansions.

My Mom and I drove from the West coast to the East coast this summer. As the youngest of six I grew up not knowing a lot of family history, so this trip taught me so much. I cherish every moment.
The travel videos with your Mom are so enjoyable. Your videos are all enjoyable, but you only ask about this type. Thanks for sharing such a special time with the viewers.
It was so incredibly heartwarming to see you enjoying time with your, it’s so much more precious than you think❤ I also have a daughter and younger son, and when they ask me who is my favorite, I also tell them they are the same. If they press I tell each one, you are my favorite daughter/son. It’s true, it’s like trying to figure out which arm or which leg is your favorite. You need both to be whole. The main St in P-town is called commercial/ though growing up spending every weekend there I call it main also lol. And the sea creatures you saw are horse shoe crabs . What amazing places you stayed at. They’re absolutely beautiful. Thank you for an incredible video.
WHAT!!! You were HERE!? in RHODE ISLAND!? AHHHHHHHH. Listen folks ik it doesn't seem like a big deal, but to even just hear RI be mentioned is literally the Leonardo DiCaprio meme. Like omg!! And you stayed in THE CHANLER? Right on the Cliff Walk!? Giiirl I hear you on that one-night rule, lol I know I'm just a no one but I really hope you enjoyed our little home of a state!!! Lol also love Provincetown 🏳🌈
I love seeing all these places. When I was younger we use to tour homes in Louisiana. Nothing could beat that staircase in the second home you showed. I can imagine walking down it at night with a candle. Awesome. thanks for the tour.
What an incredible trip! The food and hotels looked amazing. Your vintage dress is just stunning! I have toured those same homes and found it hard to believe that these were just the summer homes of the rich! Cant imagin.
I live in Woodstock, CT. There is a seven story castle in our town you might appreciate. It's called Chris Mark Castle. You can find it on the internet. I did some work in it, built an indoor water garden on the ground floor, made some valances for curtains, etc. The owner likes spooky stuff and has some incredible antiques. I bet he would like to meet you. My grandkids loved your Curious Creations show. We are fans.🦂
Hi Christine I've heard of Lands End, but never been there. It looks amazing. I'm a straight man, but I can totally appreciate the vintage clothing collection, mostly because my Mom was a fashionista when I was young. You and your desserts, I don't know about that. Most women might as well paint them directly on their hips, but you always look so amazing. I'm glad to see you spending time with your Mom, you are right, we never know how much time we have left to do that. My Mom passed in 2021. I also love how humble you are when you speak about other people's work. You are an artist of the highest calibre, don't sell yourself short. In 100 years, people will be talking about you in the same light as Michealangelo or Picasso. Thanks for another fantastic video and til' next time my Lady, take care.
one of the things that I want to do now that we have retired is go and look at the mansions around the area and then farther. It is jaw dropping the expense that they went to, to do and the workmanship is nonexistent in our present society! All of the places that you and your mom went to were so awesome! I know that you guys had such a great time! and it is always a treat to be able to go and do girl stuff with your mom! thanks for sharing! xoxo
I visited the Newport mansions in 1972, and walked the cliffside trail, which gave me a view from he back of these magnificent buildings. Glad you got to see them, and appreciate your sharing your visit with us. Your mom is cute!
Thank you so much to both of you! Thank you to your mom for being willing to share this trip with us! I loved it all, but the horse and carriage sounds added so much for me. I’m sometimes so easily amused.
Thank you for this charming film. My Partner and I visited Newport for the first time about a year ago for the Concours de Elegance, and so our focus was on the cars and gatherings. This year, we returned for the Mansions. What a treat!
Wow … what a beautiful trip 👍 thank you for the ride and the discovery of such beautiful places However for me the most beautiful and precious thing is the love you share with your mother 💝
I haven't seen this channel in a long time and when I had insomnia, I thought about finding it today. Then it popped up , top of my feed. AI , do you read my mind now? Creepy...What an amazing trip with your Mom. She is so beautiful and the dress you found is to die for. The Inns that you found were so special. I can never afford to go there, so it was great to travel vicariously (especailly by horse and buggy). Thank you for taking us along.
This was lovely and so enjoyable to watch! My mother unfortunately passed when I was very young so I will never have the opportunity to take trips like this with her in this stage of life. Thank you for allowing us this peak into your adventure!
I love Newport! Went to college in Providence (also lovely) and have such fond memories of my parents coming to visit and taking my roomate and I to tour the mansions. Theyre all so beautiful and unique!
Rhode Islander here! Thanks for Showcasing our lovely little state. I’m actually planning a trip to The mansions during the holidays. I’ve been many times in my life, but I’ve never seen the mansions decorated for the holidays.
Christine! My Mum and I were JUST in Newport not but 5 days ago and the day after our adventure I saw the thumbnail for your episode. Of course, I sent it to her immediately. Your videos are always breathtaking and have become something to watch and share with my Mum, so seeing that you were just there with your beautiful Mother after enjoying a trip with mine, was enchanting! Please always include these little getaway episodes when you can! We LOVE THEM! We did the Elms and Marblehouse but the Breakers has been a seasoned favorite in our family for decades ♥️
Thank you sweet Christine for letting us tag along on your journey this trip!!! It’s so cozy and relaxing to watch your videos ❤ Sending hugs from Kentucky
I do think this might be my new favorite episode. It was very relaxing. I have never been to any part, of that end of the country except Manhattan, NY. I have been wanting to go to Maine but now it seems I need to add Newport to the list. I love how much you were able to see and do but it still felt relaxing. It isn't always easy to plan a vacation where you're not exhausted at the end of your trip because there are so many things you feel the need to pack in to each day.
I lived in Newport for one year and it was magical! If you join the Newport Historical Society, you get admission to several mansions all year for one price! I would walk over to the Elms on my lunch break and just pretend I lived there. Did you know that Rosecliff was the location for the 1974 movie The Great Gatsby? Glad you enjoyed the homes!!
This video makes me think you would really, REALLY enjoy and appreciate the song ‘The Last Great American Dynasty’ by Taylor Swift. It’s from her folklore album and it’s the story of Rebecca Harkness who was a woman who owned her Rhode Island home before Taylor bought it. She explains the story, her life, her escapades, it’s such a fantastic piece of history. She was so inspired by reading about Rebecca she had to write a song.
I was so pleased to see this video pop up this morning! I always look forward to seeing you, and would truly enjoy seeing your trips with your Mom. I had the same with my beloved late mother, and memories are treasures. God bless, Christine. 💛
You and your Mom are both lovely and i see where you got your good looks 💕💕It is Wonderful that you document these trips with your Mom. Beautiful video. Thank you so much for sharing. I was born in Amesbury Massachusetts and absolutely adore the old buildings there. This brought back a lot of memories for me from New England. Much Love and many Blessings ! 💖💖🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
After living my entire childhood in the town right before the Sagamore bridge that you showed two shots of, and my parents now living 20 minutes north of Newport Rhode Island, I think it’s safe to say that I am screaming with excitement that you filmed to share this trip around everywhere I go day after day. I hope it brings me new inspiration to watch you here around my home, as I struggle with creative burnout. I love you Christine you spooky lady 🦇🖤

The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell. It's one of my favorites to watch during the holidays. Still wishing for a second season.

The travel videos with your Mom are so enjoyable. Your videos are all enjoyable, but you only ask about this type. Thanks for sharing such a special time with the viewers.
It was so incredibly heartwarming to see you enjoying time with your, it’s so much more precious than you think❤
I also have a daughter and younger son, and when they ask me who is my favorite, I also tell them they are the same.
I love your enthusiasm for your home state ❤ RI looks absolutely beautiful.
It will never be enough time - these trips are a fantastic way to make memories. Thanks for sharing ❤
I can't even imagine the heart of someone who would think to demolish the Elms! Oh my! Such a grand residence!
I love seeing all these places. When I was younger we use to tour homes in Louisiana. Nothing could beat that staircase in the second home you showed. I can imagine walking down it at night with a candle. Awesome. thanks for the tour.
There are few people that get me this excited! 🦇 🦇 🦇
Hi Christine
I've heard of Lands End, but never been there.
My god- your mother was an absolute firecracker in her day! Just beautiful! ❤
one of the things that I want to do now that we have retired is go and look at the mansions around the area and then farther.
I love it that she stayed in the same places that I stay at when I vacation in Ptown and Newport. My favorite place to visit is The Breakers
Wow … what a beautiful trip 👍 thank you for the ride and the discovery of such beautiful places
However for me the most beautiful and precious thing is the love you share with your mother 💝
Always appreciate bonus episodes and yes cherish your time with your mom
This was lovely and so enjoyable to watch! My mother unfortunately passed when I was very young so I will never have the opportunity to take trips like this with her in this stage of life. Thank you for allowing us this peak into your adventure!
I love Newport! Went to college in Providence (also lovely) and have such fond memories of my parents coming to visit and taking my roomate and I to tour the mansions. Theyre all so beautiful and unique!
Rhode Islander here! Thanks for
Showcasing our lovely little state.
I’m actually planning a trip to
The mansions during the holidays.
These mother-daughter travelogues are some of my very favorite episodes of yours 🥰I would love to see more!
I bet your cup of inspiration overfloweth after this trip. Thx so much for sharing the experience!
Thank you Christine ❤
After living my entire childhood in the town right before the Sagamore bridge that you showed two shots of, and my parents now living 20 minutes north of Newport Rhode Island, I think it’s safe to say that I am screaming with excitement that you filmed to share this trip around everywhere I go day after day. I hope it brings me new inspiration to watch you here around my home, as I struggle with creative burnout. I love you Christine you spooky lady 🦇🖤
