Do you have any memories of the Skoda Octavia? Let us know in the comments below!
My uncle used to work in skoda and he used to bring home their demo car, an yellow octavia vrs. I got to experience the performance in it as a passenger and it was simply mind boggling. In my opinion the turbo lag was a boon, because once the turbo spooled up you are kicked back into the seat as it took off like a freight train. The power delivery simply had a unique character. It is still my dream to get my hands on one.
The first European car I tested way back in 2000. What a machine
No memories, just reality.I still drive my 2007 1.9 TDi Octy daily. Even the Alpine music system is original. Great video I must say !
One of the best review i have ever seen on youtube. i just hope evo India keep making these
The instrument cluster of the Octavia is kind of a portal to a myriad of emotions . It makes u smile with the speedometer, can surprise you with the fuel economy readings in the MID. And then, it can downright scare you ,when some component or the other acts up & the warning lights light up the cluster like a Christmas tree 😁 the car really is an emotional roller coaster, but boy it does have a soul!
This has to be the best episode on Evo India. Period. Skoda Combi was a gem. Too bad we don't get station wagons here.
😬
Proud to be the Owner of 2010 MK1 TDI 😎... That feel when smoking up🌪️ those current gen sedans worth 15+Lakhs 🤪
Exactly, do a remap , its worth it
Such a shame people prefer SUVs over sedans for daily driving
Changing times and conditions….
you mean hatchbacks with a taller ground clearance...
Mainly max r sudo SUV 🤣🤣 SUV style on a hatch back platform like compact & mis size SUV
Dear sirish ,
I request you to please make a video on generations of Honda City in the same episode body of gone but not forgotten.
Chutiye log toh lenge hi suv ko
Unko pata nahi yeh log actually hatchback (on steroids) leh rahe hai
Sirish, you're the epitome of car enthusiasts in the country. Your energy while driving / presenting cars can put a kid in a candy shop to shame! Take a bow
🙇♀️
Thanks for the love!
Octavias have always been my dream car, from the MK1 1.9 TDI which had performance without compromise on efficiency and vRS is altogether in a different league. Even the MK4 which is the cheapest way to get the amazing 2.0 TSI making it a poor man's Audi, but not in terms of Features, means real features that are useful, like a liftback tailgate, and plenty of Simply Clever features make it a perfect car and the last standing D segment sedan. Kudos to Evo India for this great Gone But Not Forgotten series!
Spittin facts!
Thank you!
The Octavia vRS 230 in Nardo Grey will always be my dream car. People still get surprised when they ask me what my dream car is and I reply "The Octavia". An absolutely stunning piece of art which isn't heavy on your pocket. Loved the video especially the outro!
🙏🙏
@@evoIndia One of the reasons I still haven't sold my mk1 Polo 1.2 TDI is to get featured in Evo India GBNF Polo edition few years down the line. Haha! Keep it up guys👍

The 'Gone But Not Forgotten' series is amazing to watch. Thanks and Salute to the effort on bringing those models and sharing the details.
Thank you!
Superb , love these Gone but not forgotten series from EVO India .
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the love man!
Did you mean Octavia? XD
That Combi vRS is really well maintained. Hats off to the owner. But the Gen 3 had another iteration - the one which did not have the 2 part headlamps.
Ya!
Still remember the day from 2001 when I was in 2nd grade and our school principal rolled in with 3 Octavia's all at once. It was love at first sight.
Baller
How did the Principal manage that?
3 at once 😳
@@niranjankedambadi yeah how did he?
@@sirishch Husband, wife and the son with one each :)
Excellent work!! Loved the video, Tribute to the one and only OCTAVIA ❤, it's sad to see sedans going down, but the days are not far, sedans will make a comeback, Skoda should bring Slavia VRS soon
That would be awesome!
Slavia vRS would be fantastic
I was moving to the US to pursue my higher education in automobile engineering, but ever since I've started to follow this channel I'm pretty certain that the car scene in India is just gonna be amazing in the next couple of years. PROUD INDIAN
💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Everyone is buying trash fake SUVs. Car scene is getting worse day by day.
Car scene in India is never getting better. All the rules and regulations of govt, BS lifted hatchbacks (sUv) are making everything worse.
Brilliant episode! Octavia was my first car crush back during college days. I feel lucky to have been able to buy the 1.8 tsi in 2018! It’s not just a car, it’s all heart ❤️
Happy motoring!
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@evoIndia proud owner of Octavia Mk4.
Hey Bro! Looking to buy one but really afraid of the reviews or negative words about DSG issues despite VWG claiming to fix them lately. Can u help how to think about it in an unbiased way. TIA @vishaws
@@siddharththareja look at buy with the max warranty available, DSG for all its performance is still notorious for its reliability. Skoda/VW does have 6-7 yrs warranty available at a reasonable cost these days.
Whenever you drive a Skoda you word’s & feelings comes out of heart.
I drive 2012 Rapid 1.6 TDI & honestly I always get smile the moment I press the gas pedal..
Thanks Skoda❤️ for the pocket friendly Rocket 🚀
first generation octavia sedans is a legend made by skoda i love TDI diesel engine they are so powerful and fun to drive feels like im driving a tank
This is the best auto enthusiast channel in india! Hands down! Keep up evo india!!
I am here lusting over that yellow RS ...
We brought ours in 2018,A base line mk3.5 1.4 TSI with a manual gearbox, without a doubt the most underrated car ever to come to india and it was sad that car never really got any exposure, despite being a base model, its packs enough equipment to make it a great daily driver, and 1.4 tsi with that manual is a gem of an engine, you really won't miss 1.8 unless you plan to do really silly speeds, its more then adequate and crazy on efficiencey with me clocking even more then 21km/L on few occasions and 11-12 being the worsr figures in bumper to bumper traffic, supremly refined and amazing to drive, sure today there are so called suvs and even the new slavia and vitrus with a similar powered engine, but the class of the octavia remains unmatched for me,whenver i sit inside the quality, the comfort, the performance,it just makes me happy that we brought this car for us,in today's world people are getting more and more seduced by features like sunroof, air purifier, etc, cars aren't smartphones or gadgets, they are meant to be driven, they are supposed to ensure you and your passengers safety, they are supposed make you feel relaxed in heavy traffic with refinement and smoothness, and comfort you enough to push on through demanding indian roads and at times watch your back when u decide to push hard,to get back in control when you do findyouself out of,all these things is what an octavia does brilliantly, for that reason i really don't have to care about anything else and i consider myself lucky to have gotten the octavia expirence at a decent price.Sure the new mk4 is a tad expensive but just becaude it has few features missing doesn't mean its a car that you will pass on,own one and you will understand why anyone that brought one of these whether from mk1 to mk3 to RS,couldn't go back to anyone else. Its simply clever,a simply brilliant sedan.
Well said 💯

VRS 230 remains to be my dream car, awesome content EVO keep it up!

Octavia any day over entry level germans.
This car is pure Love♥️

Hope you enjoyed it!
@@evoIndia Yes, with full enthusiasm 👍🏼👍🏼
@@sirishch 😀😀👍🏼👍🏼
This “gone but not forgotten” is very very nice Shirish and Team. Love to bring home new Octavia…waiting for a new batch of RS or VRS.
What a episode man, there will be no car as Octavia
Great content. Evo India is way ahead in its content and presentation from other competitors. I own a 4th gen Octavia and it is not just a car but an emotion called passion that I drive everyday. There is a good reason why Octavia is still holding its ground when other D segment sedans have been discontinued. It is simply the best. I wish there are more takers for such a well build and fun to drive sedan.
Thanks for sharing!
Good on you Sandeep 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I JUST CAME SEEING ALL THESE CARS IN A SINGLE FRAME
Hope you stayed till the end
Oh no 😂
Been waiting for another gone but not forgotten since ages now☹️. What else but the octi 🤤🤤
Hope the wait was worth it
More cool videos coming up!
excellent video, enjoyed every second of it. Looking forward to more videos like these
Thank you!
More to come!
Was waiting for this episode! Very neatly done, Evo India!
Thank you!
Octavia is one of those cars which I fell in love with when I was a kid. Man the Estate and RS look outstanding!! I'd love to own one of these.
The VW group did not give 4wd Haldex system of the Golf GT to a Skoda cars, imagine a Skoda RS with 245hp getting a 4wd and how awesome it would be
Common VW group you can give pricey luxury cars a tuff competition and you could really get very good volumes
VAG provided haldex 4wd in Skoda always with a lower output than the VW/Skoda equivalent model. Quite a conscious decision I imagine.
Octavia/Yeti/Superb got haldex awd only with 1.8 TSI and never with 2.0TSI (except recently since 1.8tsi has been discontinued and low spec 190PS 2.0TSI was introduced).
When the Superb got the 3.6VR6 is haldex AWD, again the engine output was 260PS whereas the Passat/CC had 300PS variants.
@@avinashclt
Oh ok
I wasn't aware of this info
Thank you🙂
But then the RS wouldn’t have been so well priced
@@sirishch Globally there has never been a petrol RS with AWD. Only the diesel 4x4 RS existed. That would have cannibalised Golf R and Seat Leon Cupra range
Perfectly captioned video and an absolute delight to watch 👌.
I have a 2019 Octavia 1.8 TSI and it’s the single best day decision of my life.
Iam 25 currently and iam from a middle-class family.... And my dream is to own this octavia one day if not the new atleast the preowned one... That's my dream car❤
11:42 - 11:45 This shot, Man o Man!!!!!!! SWEEEEEEET.
Honestly...my dream car was th octy combi vRS and so disheartened to realize most people don't even know it exists...kudos to getting a test car in such a mint condition!!
I still remember, we couldn't afford an Octavia, but my Grandfather called one for a test drive nonetheless. A shiny red Octavia. Low seating, that boot opening along with the glass. It was all something else. We needed up buying a Ford Fusion on loan instead. But I always wondered, had we bought that Octavia, it would've been to treat to own it when I grew up. Unfortunately we can't keep diesel cars over 10 years in Delhi. So many cars going to waste.
Octavia - pure mafia vibes 🔥🔥🔥
💪🏻
An absolute banger of a video, you guys killed it! I'm glad to have owned a mk1 vrs at the age of 18, looking for a vrs estate now, though they are so hard to come by
I am still using and loving my 2005 octy L&K . Stage one remap done on the ecu (A MUST for skoda tdi, which makes a huge improvement in the low end ) and its a pocket rocket, with 5L/100KM fuel efficiency on average riding conditions ( highway+city) .
Hey evo India
When i was looking for a sporty with luxury sedan i saw jetta but it was discontinued so i look skoda octavia which is similar...
And now im happy to be a owner of 4th gen octavia 💚
Its truly my heart falls when i drive the car!
A pure gem of sporty D segment sedan car!
Thanks a lot skoda for the 21 year's of octavia to the loyal enthuastic Indian customers .
Oh my goodness
Thanks you sirish sir for making this video.

@@evoIndia : Maybe City or Ambassador.

@@evoIndia 👍👍👍
Very Right!!! It was Octavia, not any Japanese, or British/French carmaker, who educated us Indians of 'what is Petrol Turbo, or TSI'!!
By the way, even after two decades, Maruti( Suzuki), Toyota & Honda shy away from making Turbo petrol in India!!
Adorable Beauties!!!
😍
True that, the Octy was ahead of its time in so many ways.
@@sirishch And, Skoda itself, 'Shy' of making 1.5TSI!!
Diluting quality, for 'Cattle class' appeal!! I think, Two decades, is a long time to transfer technology!! They want to become Mercedes/BMW, 'NOT PEOPLE'S CAR'!!!
10:39 Audi R8 spark pulgs!
Tuned 💪🏻
Thanks Evo for giving OCTAVIA its respect !!!!
The exhaust sound from old RS is pure music 🎉
I still have my Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi ambient. Solid and very reliable. Still gives 20 km per litre on long drives.
One thumbs up button is not enough!! You guys never fail to amaze us. Please make a video on Fiat MJD engines.
Wonderful video! Loved it. Love shirish for this series!
Missed my skoda though, the first generation laura or the second generation Octavia (worldwide).
Waiting for the GM motors video, rather for the chevy cruze!

Best gone but forgotten series!!

Very late, but great video 👏👏👏
Stopped watching Powerdrift! Gentleman of a production!
🙏🙏🙏
Today, the Skoda Slavia delivers 150 Bhp , what the early VRs' used to. Must be quite a handful.
Nope, chassis and tyre technology has also evolved so it doesn't feel a handful
I know I am going to get a lot of heat for this but between VW and Skoda, I prefer Skoda!! VW is absolute favorite of mine but Skoda, boy o boy!! Their cars just feel different. My first exposure was the Rapid and what a car that was. Skoda cars are meant to have fun while driving. Kodiaq is still my dream car and I would buy it any day over Compass, Meridian or any other car in that range. I am happy Skoda is finally doing good and people are looking nowadays for more safe and fun cars rather than the ones with gimmicky features.
Skoda does offer great value, relatively speaking!
Esteem...ford escort/ikon and opel astra...esteem should be re launched in new avatar...look forward...nice to see octavia here...enjoyed it 😀
👍
Great but please make one on these cars too
1) Polo
2) Indica/Indigo
3) WagonR
4) Scorpio
Polo 💪🏻
Cool idea! Polo would be 🔥
Haha You guys just announced the next GBNF episode and its the polo
I still have that newspaper cutout of 1st RS launched on 1st sep, 2005 ! Yellow was the communication color ..the spider design alloys, perforated seats , different exhaust tip, ofcourse the RS badging, spoiler, raised lips on front bumpers set apart the RS from regular octavia ! Thanks for taking us back in time !
Proud owner of Skoda Octavia MK3 … Love this Beast

Brilliant, one of my favourites since inception in Indian market.
Hoping Evo India does a video on the OG Honda Civic .
My First Crush in Automobile World. ❤️
As usual! Love this series! This just became my favorite episode! Want episodes on the Daewoo cars in india, Opel corsa, corsa hatchback ,corsa estate and Astra too :)
My uncle had an octy RS 1st gen and he met with a serious car crash around 2009...the car saved him and his wife and the walked out with minor scratches while the driver of the other car( A Ford Classic/Fiesta then) was pretty serious...an year later, he purchased another octy and then now he has the Superb L&K. That's the build quality of a Skoda! Only thing tho...maintenance costs were pretty high up and service networks were poor... majorly improved now tho ig
Beautiful. The octavia has always been my pick for a FWD monster! I had the GEN 1 in red (diesel) and also in 2013 I upgraded to the new Octavia with a Toyota like horn! Well Mr. Shirish, can you make a same series for the RWD monster? The 3 series! It would be great
Nice video ⚡👍 Super
Do a chevy cruze , optra and beat. Gone but not forgotten series.
Yup 👍🏼
Soon!
Great content as always 👏 👌 😍
But you didn't mention 2.0MPI engine which produced 110hp in 1st gen octavia and the 1.4TSI which got 140 or 150hp in 3rd gen octavia for India. They may not have been fun to drive cars but they did the job. Of course both are forgotten now especially the 2.0Mpi because it was a sales flop since people were buying the 1.9TDI like crazy .
You’re right. In fact I remember driving that 2-litre petrol in first Octy. Wasn’t a very good engine TBH esp with the Octy’s weight
you should also include Mk3 Octavia PreFL. The design of that car is timeless 🔥
Octavia vRS 230 was the best sport sedan, we could ever get. Hated to see this car didn’t sell as much. But I wanna let @ŠKODAIndia know, we would be desperately waiting for rebirth of vrs230 5 years later. No luxury amping up needed like the 245, just pure adrenaline kicks.
Love this video from uk Skoda are great cars
Tasty video Sirish! So properly tasty!

Would love to see a drag race between these cars.
Next time!
good idea. we'd have done it but not enough space where we were shooting
Zac Hollis is the man to lift Skoda from leaving Indian market. Sad to see him getting transferred
The Octy is getting discontinued in April 2023.

Loved this episode. As a kid back then in the early 2000s I've always admired the Octavia vRS, that bodykit, those wheels and the 1.8T engine; Beautiful!. Fast forward to today, I still do like the new Octavia but its just out of reach (price-wise) for me right now. 🥲 I guess I'll wait for the 230s or 245s to show up in the pre-owned market.
Those prices aren’t dropping either!
RS in used market very rare 🫣
mere pass fist model 2003 skoda octivia hai 2.0 mpi petrol, all parts are made in germany ,19 year old,
You don't have to own Skoda to appreciate it, but you definitely have to own one to go through the pain of loving it obsessively.
The front fascia of gen 4 Octavia and Slavia looks surprisingly similar
Rs 230 and rs245 were such a steal 🔥
Excellent sirish 👌❤️
