I’m waiting to take delivery of a Mustang Mach-E GT in dark matter gray, but I could easily see buying this Tesla as my first EV. Thanks for another great review: G.O.A.T.
The only issues I have with Tesla is the expenses when it come to repairing … it’s a bloody nightmare! If you do get a Tesla get it wrapped and add a glass automative protective film added to ur windows a d windshields.. this will save a ton of headaches
Interior doesn't look or feel like a $75K car because the Model Y is a $58K car. The Performance can be had for $62K. The only way you get to $75K is extras and the rip off $10K self driving pkg. Point is, when you buy this, you can't compare interior luxury with another $65k+ luxury car because that car won't even begin to approach the performance of this. Just like a Charger Hellcat interior doesn't match its price point because you're strictly paying for performance.
I have a Tesla Model 3 Performance. The only things that I wish were physical knobs are volume and climate control. BUT - I control the volume from the steering wheel physical control, and I also keep the temperature at 70 (but I use the seat heaters off and on in the winter). I know others have complained about the wipers but I find that the auto wipers work just fine on mine (and you can use one of the steering wheel stocks to turn them on quickly for a single wipe).
Drive same car. I downgraded from Model X but no regrets. M3P is amazing. I dont miss any stupid buttons or other unnecessary bling bling found in Mercedes for example.
I hope that but the time I’m financially stable enough to buy a Tesla little issues in the quality control department get fixed (I.e panel gaps & stuff) then I’ll definitely be sold! Thanks again for the great vid Joe & Lori!
I’m glad u finally reviewed a Tesla ! Couple of things I noticed however: - no mention of free software updates , which improve the car’s range, features, etc. over time/ownership - no mention of Tesla’s autopilot or full-self driving features - no mention of Tesla’s phone app functionality - no mention of Tesla’s supercharger network The above points I mentioned are some of the main reasons why someone would choose a Tesla over a Mach-E. Overall , I liked ur review of the Model Y. Although u did seem pretty unimpressed lol might be cuz u are a car enthusiast n much rather drive ICE vehicles. No hate , just my ✌️ cents
@@pdboomin2 Is amazing how many people miss those points you mentioned. With ICE vehicles you didn't have to worry about where you were going to refuel because gas stations are every where but on an EV if you take 300+ miles often like I do, you have to take into consideration the charging Network. I've taken multiple 2,000+ mile trips and having a reliable charging Network is such a piece of mind. Pulling to a Supercharger at 3am on a 27+ hour trip knowing how many chargers are working and available even before you get to the Supercharger makes me feel great about the choice I made when deciding to buy my EV. The charging Network, autopilot, OTAs, brand recognition, the direct sales model, Mobil Service, were some of the reasons I decided to purchase a Tesla over other brands. And I didn't even mentioned the vehicle specs. I hope other EV manufactured invest in the charging networks for their customers. That will help get more EVs on the road and give a better experience to EV drivers regardless of the brand.
@@Lex-Rex haha u sound like an old-head hanging on to a thread that is the inevitable end of ICE car relevancy Yeah panel gaps or not , Tesla’s build quality has gotten much better since their beginning years of car deliveries. There’s no denying Tesla is years ahead of the competition.
I should be getting my Y performance in couple of weeks hopefully without delay.. I checked out Mach E fully loaded but dealer markup was $20k. That turned me off
And I hear that Tesla is getting the fit and finish better than the first year, I think for the price point there should be no flaws in the paint , parts and accessories.
I appreciate the review. But I have to mention the following. 1.) The Tesla Model Y does not cost $75k. As I type this, the vehicle you are driving (as optioned) is available for $64k via Tesla. The dealership you are at is trying to sell it at $75k I suspect. Tesla sells directly to the consumer, no endless hours of price negotiating at a dealership. 2.) The Model Y Performance has an EPA rated 303 miles of range. With any vehicle, gas or electric, spirited driving will obviously bring that range down. 3.) Most don’t know that the reason the door handles are flush with the body is to maximize aerodynamics and drag coefficiency. Exposed handles can subtract ≈ 3% of range. 4.) The specific model you showcased has an integrated tow hitch behind the plastic cover. The Model Y can tow up to 3,500 lbs. I have to agree with you about the fit and finish. At a $64k price point, everything about the vehicle should be flawless! It doesn’t even come with an automatic garage door opener! WTF!? Design aesthetics is where things start to get subjective. Some motorists prefer a minimalistic approach and others prefer to feel like they are in a cockpit surrounded by a thousand buttons when in reality they will only be using seven of them. I really enjoy your vehicle reviews! You really highlighted the performance features. Keep the videos coming!
@@gokaruna HUGE difference. Night and day. Where I thought I was going to get a flat every time I hit a bump, it’s now relatively smooth. Handling is better too.
Yeah I prefer the old Tesla interior's more when they had the speedometer and instrument cluster where it normally should be above the steering wheel with the vertical screen intergraded into the interior. The new ones are way too minimalistic.
Yea, the newer interior of the model 3 & Y are boring, just minimalistic with no styling. Just because it’s minimalist does not mean you have to curb styling, they will have no choice now with competition coming left and right.
If you think Model Y has good acceleration, give plaid a try.. it's insane, even X plaid is super quick. Got both, can't go back to ICE vehicles anymore. Came from LX570 to Tesla, no regrets so far.
Other than the bad finishes for the amount of they cost, the fact that they’re aren’t enough charging stations and the fact it takes so much longer to charge than it does to fill up a gas tank? I’m sold.
Tesla has their own charging network, that's not the same compared with the other brand EVs (like Mach-e for instance). But that's only if you must charge on the go, most EV owners charge at home at night, while they sleep. That's almost like your smartphone, except you don't need to charge the car every night. The range being over 300 miles, it's enough to charge once a week. It's incredibly convenient and extremely cheap (about 3 cents per mile, depending on your electricity price). It is only complicated if you live in an apartment where you can't charge overnight, so you might need to charge weekly at a supercharger (but they are everywhere nowadays). Also, a lot of malls have now chargers in the parking lot, so you can charge while you shop. You are right about the finish, though, I hope they can make it better. They keep alluding at this new factory in Texas that they're gonna build a new kind of paint shop.. Will see when it's done, but I won't get my hopes up. The best deal is still the cheapest Tesla at 42k, that Model 3 SR+ is selling like hotcakes.
Hey it’s me on the year 2024, I recently got delivery of a Y Performance and with today prices I think is definitely worth it. As an ex GT-R and Type R owner I must say this car is the best duality between a sports car and a family car.
My car reviewed by the king himself! Crazy to think I was considering a Kia K5 GT, Sonata N Line, watching your reviews, then I just jumped the gun and decided to buy a Tesla :D
Mustang GT is $60k. Model Y Performance is $57k. So the Ford doesn't 'drastically' undercut the Tesla IMPO. '$75k' is way off - even with (not yet available) 'future' self-driving option!
Totally agree. The flat black needs to go. I always hated it on any car especially the top trim. It gets chalky overtime and is hard to keep nice looking. It just a cheap out on the manufacturer to save money IMO. But yeah. Needs to go. The performance model needs to stand out.
Definitely prefer a simulated grille on an ev over not having one with the only exception imo being the model s and taycan but porsche have never had grilles except on their suv's
@@copytan2395 Yeah, most ev's look odd like somethings missing, whether that's me not being used to seeing vehicles without grilles I'll let you decide and some grille designs are a part of a brand's identity like bmw's kidneys and audi's singleframe so it's nice to see those still around even if they're simulated
Thank you so much for zonking that one screen controls all!! This seems to be the trend that the vehicles are starting to go as well, the reveal party for the Land Rover Range Rover is pretty much slowly doing the same thing...
Yes and no. Some makers are eschewing that trend while others embrace it. Curiously, cars like Volvo are embracing it and Honda is going away from it. Audi is in the middle. Some cars are multi-screen, some are using physical buttons.
It doesn't need a grille. But what would be cool as a replacement for a grille would be forward sensor array. I'm not talking about just a camera I mean a full sensor suite! Knight Rider baby!
A little more research on Tesla would have been ideal. That is a Model Y Performance, the underscore in the "Dual Motor" badge, the wheels, and the spoiler give that away. It's insanely fast!
I personally like EV's but I'm not ready to go out and get one. What's holding me back is most obvious is the Price for most EV regardless of government incentives. Also the Rang, I feel once an EV can get a rang of 500 on a single charge and will only take 10 min to recharge the batter from Low. Then I would feel more comfortable getting into one. I also feel either a tack or a heads up displace that show your speed would be great for Telsa's.
engine sound is so childish that it is beyond funny. And I loved them when I owned a terminator cobra. But, I grew up and dont miss them. In fact, I get so irritated when a neighbor revs up early in the morning in my community, that I feel like coming out and punching them one day :D LOL.

If you buy the car directly through Tesla, the performance model Y with taxes tag and tile is under 67K, and beats the price of Mach E GT or is slightly less than the GT. Also the newer version of 2021 Model Y Performance has 303 miles of range.
I have the same spec Model Y Performance with white interior. It’s one of my favorite of 4 Performance Model Tesla I’ve owned . 2) True, power will drop in this generation as SOC drops but Plaid has solved that issue and it will trickle to the Model Y and 3 next year . That’s my biggest complaint of an ev similar to an ice car running in less dense or warm air. 3) Nah the mashing of throttle NEVER gets old !!4) It needs adaptive suspension ! You’ll miss the torque tomorrow ;)
I love this and the model X I agreed that the slim spoiler at the rear on the trunk door should be completely attached no gaps or loose
So very true Brian!
Damn that window tint looks dark as hell I’m for sure doing 5 percent on all five windows and sunroof and 35 percent or 20 percent on windshield
Another home run video Joe my man! You and Lori are banging em out and I'm loving it. You got me torn between the Model Y and the Mach E GT.
Zonking this review. The model Y performance does not cost 75K. 57K for the performance on the Tesla website. So many features not covered.
Great vid! That blue performance looks good! Although they try seeping costs low, Tesla should consider some interior and exterior updates, & ventilated seats
I think that the inside is nice. I do see what you were talking about. The good thing about that 15 inch screen is how it clears up more space inside
One thing I've come to appreciate about the lack of gauge clusters is that you can add your own depending on what style you like.
Every time I see a Tesla. I see a person alone in their car with a mask on
Maybe someone is hiding in the back?
I don't I've EVER heard you squeal so much while doing a test drive!
Absolutely Fantabulous work, as always, Lori!
Thank you for being so thorough with your reviews. 😘
Where do you get $75k? More like 65, right?
Thanks Joe and Lori for another great video. This is an awesome EV. I can’t wait to get mine in the year 2031.
Are panel gaps standard on the Performance trim?
It seems that way. It was really terrible.
@@RaitisRides my wife and I really wanted one as a family car now that we have a little one in the house, but after renting one out on Turo I was completely disappointed. It really felt cheap and poorly put together. The driving was dull and the lack of physical buttons was frustrating, like door locks, AC vents, glovebox. We have a mach e GT on order and can't wait to get it. The Mach E will look better next to my GT350 too 😉
i have the exact same ride in white for couple months now and would not go back go gas. Tesla over Ford any day especially withe their charging network. Great review as always
Really enjoying my Mach E! Almost got a model Y but way preferred the driving feel and interior of the Mach e
Thanks Edgar for sharing that ownership experience
Love the R sign when you accelerate 🤣 great review, love the car.
No problem with the flat black plastic around the wells. Less paint to get dinged.
When you were doing the test drive in the Model Y, what was the chime for?
Why was the speed blocked on throttle???
I was thinking the same thing. Wondering how fast he was going that made him block it. LOL.
I’m waiting to take delivery of a Mustang Mach-E GT in dark matter gray, but I could easily see buying this Tesla as my first EV. Thanks for another great review: G.O.A.T.
You are really awesome Stanley! I am really excited for you!
There is no comparison tesla is like an iphone and mach e is like a dated flip phone. not a fanboy but the R&D of both cars are leagues different.
And I am glad that I will buy a fully loaded Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition anyway.
@@MikeG1985 Not really accurate. The interior quality is better in the Ford and that’s not even impressive
@@alh06
Ehhh. Honestly same about of plastic in both. Tesla has a better headliner, much better tech, more convenient storage.
Does it drive it's self too?
Yes with FSD option. Judging by the stated price $75k, it must have FSD optioned in it.
Brotha Raiti making videos faster than a donation plate being passed around.
You are freaking hilarious Justin!
I hope that but the time I’m financially stable enough to buy a Tesla little issues in the quality control department get fixed (I.e panel gaps & stuff) then I’ll definitely be sold! Thanks again for the great vid Joe & Lori!
It will be interesting to see how Elon fixes this.
I think they should eliminate the front grill if not required, I don’t like fake side vents and fake hood vents only have it if it’s functional.
I’m glad u finally reviewed a Tesla ! Couple of things I noticed however:
- no mention of free software updates , which improve the car’s range, features, etc. over time/ownership
- no mention of Tesla’s autopilot or full-self driving features
- no mention of Tesla’s phone app functionality
- no mention of Tesla’s supercharger network
The above points I mentioned are some of the main reasons why someone would choose a Tesla over a Mach-E. Overall , I liked ur review of the Model Y. Although u did seem pretty unimpressed lol might be cuz u are a car enthusiast n much rather drive ICE vehicles. No hate , just my ✌️ cents
Gimmicks and junk.
@@Lex-Rex lol ok bud
@@pdboomin2 Truth hurts. Panel gaps, orange peel, hell Raiti showed at lest 3 issues with fit and finish on this POS.
@@Lex-Rex haha u sound like an old-head hanging on to a thread that is the inevitable end of ICE car relevancy
Yeah panel gaps or not , Tesla’s build quality has gotten much better since their beginning years of car deliveries. There’s no denying Tesla is years ahead of the competition.
I should be getting my Y performance in couple of weeks hopefully without delay.. I checked out Mach E fully loaded but dealer markup was $20k. That turned me off
Not all Ford dealers are marking it up.
Cant go wrong with it - especially the Supercharger network has your back! Hope you are enjoying your new ride!
Thanks for the well laid out comment! Great insight!
I just bought one of these with a white interior. Love it. So much faster than my 2013 S was. Switching out the wheels to 19” Martian Wheels.
Did you notice changes in your ride quality with the 19s? I am considering the same or the 18s for mine.
Speedometer is still there on the Model S and X i think
The model S and X have a dashboard, which are a step above the 3 and Y, but man does Tesla really punish you for buying the entry models.
Yea, the newer interior of the model 3 & Y are boring, just minimalistic with no styling. Just because it’s minimalist does not mean you have to curb styling, they will have no choice now with competition coming left and right.
@@jed23ify Less is more
I daily drive a Model 3, I don't miss the behind the steering wheel instrument cluster but I do think a heads up display would be nice
That’s why you don’t pay $75k for it. You wait a year or 2 and get a used performance Y for $40k 😉
no grill! But X and S have a nicer front. They should have offered the same design for 3/Y IMHO.
"Would you like some type of sound while you drive?"How about the 14 speaker, subwoofer and two amp sound system? lol!
Hey it’s me on the year 2024, I recently got delivery of a Y Performance and with today prices I think is definitely worth it. As an ex GT-R and Type R owner I must say this car is the best duality between a sports car and a family car.
I appreciate you sharing that great personal experience!
My car reviewed by the king himself! Crazy to think I was considering a Kia K5 GT, Sonata N Line, watching your reviews, then I just jumped the gun and decided to buy a Tesla :D
If you could get the plaid on the channel that would be crazy
I am working on it!
Nice. Love the channel
@@nophirharrell9946 Thanks for that!
It's not a $75000 MSRP. MSRP for this car $61990.
Thanks for that input Stan.
best driving car for the money, no other EV comes close to what Tesla offers, thats why i bought their stocks back in 2017
Mustang GT is $60k. Model Y Performance is $57k. So the Ford doesn't 'drastically' undercut the Tesla IMPO. '$75k' is way off - even with (not yet available) 'future' self-driving option!
The Tesla supercharger network alone makes it the obvious choice. An EV is about the technology, take the car company with the best tech.
Absolutely 💯 love 💘 that center screen
It is large and in charge.
@@RaitisRides oh yeah man 👨 😎
Totally agree. The flat black needs to go. I always hated it on any car especially the top trim. It gets chalky overtime and is hard to keep nice looking. It just a cheap out on the manufacturer to save money IMO. But yeah. Needs to go. The performance model needs to stand out.
I'm thinking of buy a used 21' Tesla Model Y.
Would love to see more reviews on EV’s
Will the acceleration get old? Does the 0 - 60 3 times in the video....come on man. Best crossover ever.
It actually does get old. No soul in this vehicle.
@@RaitisRides Curious what car has "soul"?
Hope you do an extended review of the Rivian truck. Really excited about the SUV next year
I have one coming next month.
Definitely prefer a simulated grille on an ev over not having one with the only exception imo being the model s and taycan but porsche have never had grilles except on their suv's
I agree with you Paul!
Why do you prefer a simulated grill? Just for cosmetics?
I don't think it looks too bad but the Model S/X front on this would be better
@@copytan2395 Yeah, most ev's look odd like somethings missing, whether that's me not being used to seeing vehicles without grilles I'll let you decide and some grille designs are a part of a brand's identity like bmw's kidneys and audi's singleframe so it's nice to see those still around even if they're simulated
I'm 1 sec into the video and I can already answer the question if the Model Y is better than a Mustang Mach-E. YES, its better in every way!!
No heated or ventilated seats???
I love your vibe and energy brother. I even watch your videos on cars I have no interest in just to see what your jamming in the door pocket.
Was that front tint even legal in FL?
Did they misspell crown?
I love this channel though, the only REALLY HONEST car reviews I've seen!
I got mine in June, I like it so far. I love my Model Y.
$63,000 for that Tesla, just FYI.
Unless you pay for the $10,000 FSD software upgrade, most people do not.
It doesn't need a grille. But what would be cool as a replacement for a grille would be forward sensor array. I'm not talking about just a camera I mean a full sensor suite! Knight Rider baby!
I used to love watching Knight Rider!
Nice ride, but zonking the one screen control panel and the fwood trim on the dash. That looks terribly cheap.
The wood is real.
A little more research on Tesla would have been ideal. That is a Model Y Performance, the underscore in the "Dual Motor" badge, the wheels, and the spoiler give that away. It's insanely fast!
More like an "ON VOLTAGE" than an "ON THROTTLE!"
You’re gonna be waiting another decade or so for 500 miles of charging in 10 mins
CAN YOU DO UPDATED VERSION TESLA MODEL Y 2023
This will be my very first electric SUV Joe.
I don’t give a flying flip about engine sounds so lack of that is not a drawback at all for me.
It is for me.
engine sound is so childish that it is beyond funny. And I loved them when I owned a terminator cobra. But, I grew up and dont miss them. In fact, I get so irritated when a neighbor revs up early in the morning in my community, that I feel like coming out and punching them one day :D LOL.
Lol you forgot to put your logo over the second acceleration. Great review. Guessing this car had the FSD package to be $75k, unless the dealer has marked it up 10+ grand.
Thanks for the heads up James!
