I'd rather take the Tesla Model Y Performance. It is just a much nicer car for my lifestyle and easy on the pockets. Since I have bought Model 3 Performance I no longer pay for fuel, road tax and congestion zone fees. It is like free travel which I never thought was possible. Just amazing.

I was surprised it was beating the model-Y (performance). Then I looked the Audi up and I see it costs MORE than my model-S (plaid). Real good chance the Audi even has LESS storage capacity.
The model Y is an incredible car, it has the performance of a sports car and the utility of an SUV. The fact that you can seat 5-7 passengers and alot of cargo in a model Y, and still beat sports cars is pretty impressive. Nevertheless, nothing beats the incredible engineering and quality of an Audi.

To get better performance of the Tesla, you should skip track mode and navigate to suc. The temp in the battery will raise instead of decrease, which will make the cars faster in the dragrace.
It’s just the abs dongle. That’s not from Tesla it’s from Bosch so the same than Mercedes or BMW or also Audi. So the only reasonable change between these two cars are the tires. The best braking power is if the tire is blocked but than you can’t steer so than the abs dongle but if that’s the same the only change are the tires. (When we talk about cold brakes after two laps race track there are other differences.

Track mode on the Model 3/Y is slower for drag races - it's designed for continuous high throttle around a track so actively cools the battery (which is bad for drag races as you want the battery hot for maximum performance). Charge level also matters a lot on performance with the Tesla, especially the current generation of performance models on the M3/Y with their LG battery. Their maximum power output starts dropping as soon as the battery goes below 95%, by the time it's down to 60% it's max power sustained power output is down by at least 15%. If the car was fully charged it would have had much more top end power ...this is seen in the 1/4 mile time of 12.4s which is slow for a performance MY. I don't know where the nearest charger is from that runway but you need to charge up EV's before the drag races - it's only fair after all you are using launch control in the ICE cars (something that never happens in the real world on public roads). A drag race should set each car up for their maximum performance (launch control, dynamic settings etc on ICE....and a full battery and correct mode (not track) on the EV's)
@@karlajensen100 I think 10.9 is still quite hard to achieve. Search for Travis Willis, he has done the absolute everything to reduce his 0-100 and 1/4 mile. Not impossible, but it’s not as easy as a quick diet.
@@BVZTIII Aye, but same can be said for an ICE car which will start pulling back the map as IAT's get too hot, and gearbox shift times....particularly on hot days. One thing can be said about Tesla's and that is their drag runs are very consistent where as ICE car's can vary a lot between each run (they are far more prone to bad launches due to lack of power control off the line). The power drop from 95% to 85% is small in a Tesla, but does increase as you go below that. We are not talking huge amounts here, eg the diff btwn 60% SOC and 90% SOC can shave around 0.4s off a 1/4 mile time. It's not huge in reality but does matter when you are comparing vehicles in a drag race. From my own experience in a Tesla M3, each 1/4 run used about 2-3% of charge overall (as you put a chunk back on on decel via regen). So you can get plenty of runs in b4 you even loose 0.1s on a drag run.

You could save a few thousand and get a Model Y Long Range and pay £1,500 for the acceleration boost which would bring the cost to £54,490 so less than the RS Q3 with better performance and significantly reduced running costs.

Aside from the M3 Competition xDrive, what other similar cars is the RS4/5 slow compared to? In the dry it consistently does a sub 12 second 1/4 mile, and around 3.5 seconds 0 to 60. You and I must have a very different definition of "slow".

For best Tesla performance keep track mode off. The battery should be north of 95%. Then right before the race put the closest supercharger in the navigation so the car warms the battery. Turn off the supercharger navigation off right before the race and send it.

(Dk about BMW but I prefer Audi's interior design with the horizontal vent etc) I've sat in a Model 3 before and it was pretty horrid, the dashboard had this fake scratchy wood insert and NO nice materials, the entire dash just had a hollow feeling. Probably the cheapest interior ever, EVERYTHING is in that centre screen, and glass isn't a nice feeling material (A4's climate control dials with the temperature in them just oozes quality etc" The C Class was better than the Tesla, but again, it didn't just didn't feel as crisp as the A4's interior, too shiny and overdesigned. Tesla > Mercedes > Bmw > Audi

This is fun, we all love petrol cars but deep down we know that it is game over in terms of performance in 2023, imagine in 5 years from now.
What's the distance on that track, it was a lot longer than 12 seconds so it's more than 1/4 mile. My guess is it's at least a 1/2 mile or more.

To be fair, in the dry RS4 is slow when compared with other similar Cars, but in the wet, OMG, that thing is insane.

Aside from the M3 Competition xDrive, what other similar cars is the RS4/5 slow compared to? In the dry it consistently does a sub 12 second 1/4 mile, and around 3.5 seconds 0 to 60. You and I must have a very different definition of "slow".

@@stefanomarcellino6701 they aren't quite that fast. I have a dragy and the same 2022 RS5 Sportback that he has, and it's a consistent 11.6-11.8 car. It would get beat most of the time by any M3/M5/E63s. They are very quick though. This is my second RS5.

RS4 is more of a compact estate. The RS6 is the big one. The RS4 is also on the slower side for this class .

@@pokycell5138 first off that's the model x performance which has a 3 second+ 0-60 and runs 11s the plaid runs sub 10s which blows the doors off the rs6 c8s 11.5 on a prepped surface while we are running real x plaids at 9.8 on the road

.. the restrictors do nothing until beyond 160mph and the Tesla isn't even hitting that at 140mph while a stage 1 rs6 isn't hitting 140 at all

I own one and they have brembo brakes and they do run a lot of tire (255 front, 275 rear and summers)

It says The Y Performance has 527 hp, but various on-line websites have the Y Performance's hp ranging from 450 hp to 580 hp. I wish there was a more definitive answer. I have a Y Performance, and I'd like to know...
Track mode on the model y actually makes it slightly slower in the 1/4 mile and 0-60.

For best Tesla performance keep track mode off. The battery should be north of 95%. Then right before the race put the closest supercharger in the navigation so the car warms the battery. Turn off the supercharger navigation off right before the race and send it.

12.4? Do this on a dry track. I ran 11.8 consistently over 5 runs on an NHRA track.

Vs zanussi. Ive driven evs and not impressed with them at all. Everyone i know who has had a tesla has sold it in 6 months! Terrible build quality ugly as sin no soul and completely impractial!! Did i also mention they are massively overpriced. ICE ALL DAY EVERY DAY!!👍👍😂😂😂
@@andyp9040 Haha who are these mates you talk of? I recently bought a model Y Long range and it’s my fav car I’ve ever owned. Never going back to an ICE car. I used to drive BMW 330e (last car), Mercedes C and Audi A4 before that and model Y is by far favourite out of all of them!
Am techy also, so this car is perfect for me. Also, every family/friend that has sat in my car has said it’s like sitting in something special.
@@indiemaniac88 The A4 B9 is hands down one of the all round cars you can buy today, I have a 2017 B9 A4 Sport TFSI and chose it over a W205 C Class.
(Dk about BMW but I prefer Audi's interior design with the horizontal vent etc)
I've sat in a Model 3 before and it was pretty horrid, the dashboard had this fake scratchy wood insert and NO nice materials, the entire dash just had a hollow feeling. Probably the cheapest interior ever, EVERYTHING is in that centre screen, and glass isn't a nice feeling material (A4's climate control dials with the temperature in them just oozes quality etc"
The C Class was better than the Tesla, but again, it didn't just didn't feel as crisp as the A4's interior, too shiny and overdesigned.
