日清戦争も、寒さや病気との戦いだったんだろうな。今とは違って、GPSとか医療もそこまでなかっただろうし。

敵と戦う時間よりは、それ以外の時間（つまり移動、宿営、警戒等の非及び準戦闘）のほうがよほど長い時間を兵士らは過ごすでしょうしね。
その意味では敵兵よりは自然との戦いが常ではありましょう。

海軍は脚気を根絶できていたのに。
日清戦争で命を落とした陸軍兵士は約15000人ですが、そのうち戦闘で亡くなった方はおよそ1500人で1割程度。その他は殆どが病死や負傷後の死亡です。
