- We're back with more Marvel vs Capcom 2! Psylocke is a character who I always considered to be pretty weak in MvC2, other than her obviously amazing assist. Who better than @jwonggg to prove me wrong! He definitely makes this character look OP, so hopefully you'll enjoy our matches!

Man, JM has a great mental approach to fighting games- even when he's getting bodied or dropping his execution he always seems like he's having fun. Respect.
Because it's just casual matches and he playing against the best player
He's been salty before but even then he still keeps composed.
It helps when, even if you lose you have a chance to make profitable content from it.
JM has so much technical knowlege about fighting games, but he's( almost ) always smacked by online opponent. whats important is he's playing for fun. thats what i like about him
@@balabala1651 Not by randos, but when he fights true warriors of course he gets bodied. When he's fighting people closer to his level he does great, like in the strive tournament he won with Nago.

It's gotta be the weirdest feeling to try and tell Justin Wong he's wrong about something in MVC2
I mean if you were telling him he’s wrong about the true meta then it’d be weird but most of his time with the game has probably been like “X character isn’t as good as MSP so why would I bother thinking about them”, so it’s not entirely unthinkable

justin's team has very good synergy, its the team that counts, not just a single character
Psylocke was (and still is) my favorite character in this game. I particularly liked her two tanned color palette options...the one J. Wong is using here and the light blue version.

Psylocke was one of my favs since children of the atom. And in mvc 2 one of my teams were captain commndo, psylocke and spider man.
Super stoked seeing a quick Collab after having seen Jm make the case and later Justin follow suit and offer the updated perspective on the point tiers. Awesome community, great content!
Psylocke also has a double dump which at more combo options with a super special follow through. Plus she’s fast on the ground if you know how to use her.
Ngl that Butterflies into Sonic Hurricane was sliiiiiiick, had me feeling sorry for my dude Ryu for a second 😆

psylocke is weirdly awesome for me, she's the only character ive ever picked up snd felt immediately competent with. all her normals flow perfectly for me and i really like her set of specials. although some of them can use a few less frames of startup.
Im still only 00:39 seconds into the video but the "I think you should show it to us, I think we should see it" and then the editing like its our heroes last words. Instantly liked lol

I won’t lie, JM does a great job of keeping his cool here. Justin seems like an extremely frustrating person to play against. He isn’t concerned with making the game fun, he just does everything possible to win lol

I'm trying to come up with a good assist for Akuma/bone Wolverine that would lock down the opponent and allow raging demon...that isn't Dr Doom.

Sent drones are pretty good, too. Uhhhh, i dunno, not a lot of options, but do some digging, you'll find something. Hayato's expansion/varietyassist is lowkey kinda goated, but i don't think it will work. I don't mess with akuma and bonerine much.

@@rapidretrovenue563 I'v used Akuma since the game came out, but haven't played much since about 2001. It was pretty cool meeting Justin, and Daigo at Evo 2000. I need to make a proper PC joystick though.
@@grndzro777 Have you messed with Ken? Ppl say he's LOADS better than Akuma. Also remember this 3rd character you plan to use mainly as an assist char will likely be fighting on their own, so it should ideally be a character that can hold their own well.
This is why Doom is ubiquitous in many weird teams because he can fight on his own and use remaining bar well. I'm a Sentinel Anchor kinda guy myself, though.
@@rapidretrovenue563 Yea I like Ken but I'v always really enjoyed using Akuma. The crossover with Bonerine's low assist might work pretty well. I'll probably work on my Hayato, and Jin as a 3rd. I'v never been a cookie cutter player. Something about following the pack irks me :)
@@grndzro777 I'm a Shuma main, so I know whatchu mean, but I think having at least one top or high tier kinda usually gives a team the needed "sauce" to make big plays.
I know because I came up playing Shuma/Venom/Gief. I started noticing the team didn't have enough speed, so I replaced Gief with Chun-Li. Later I realized I didn't have enough anti-camping support, si I hit a character crisis, but I knew I wanted to make Shuma work.
Now I use either Shuma/T.Bonne/Sent or ChunLi/Shuma/Sent and its hella fun combining the creativity of low tiers with the power of top. You strike this great balance of being creative, but pragmatic as well.

At the start of the video I already disagree... Psylocke is actually far stronger than Cammy on point, it's not "Cammy level"
Psylocke has better mobility with triple jump.
Psylocke's ground dash, albeit slower than Cammy's has one of the smaller hitboxes in the entire game, I mean, she can dash BELOW Cable's Standing HP shots....
Psylocke has one of the best fireballs in the game.
Psylocke has an instant overhead that solo combos into super.
Psylocke has CRAZY GOOD normals, specially her standing HP, crouching HK, and all jumping hard attacks.
Psylocke's "Shoryuken like" move simply goes through everything, and the LK version is super safe.
Psylocke has the fastest Snapback in the game that comes out in CRAZY 2 frames.
Psylocke's BnB deals slightly less damage than Cammy's, but who cares?
Basically, Psylocke has waaaay better mobility, is better than cammy to open people up because Instant overhead, Cammy has shitty ability to open people up... and Psylocke can actually lame you out, while Cammy has no other option at all than move forward.
IMO, Psylocke is FAAAAAAR better even on point.

Just view battles of MvC2 in Mexico are some videos in UA-cam, Psylocke is the character that the players use more along Magneto, Cammy, Cap. Commando, TronBone, Storm, Cable, IronMan, Jill, Dr. Doom, RubyHeart, Strider and Centinel are the TopTier Characters not only for assistance

Try using spiral dancer, sentinal and blackheart. Use spiral on the ground and fire tracking blades and use sentinal and blackhrt for assist.
I always played Iceman, Dr. Doom, and Psylock. Her assist is worse than Captain Commando’s but she can actually steal a win or 2.

Dude. PsyLocke is 10x better than Jill. Who told you she sucks???? Lol she has mixups, easy DHC combos, psyblasteis really good pressure and she has a 50/50 mixup unlockable with her gcf k special. Easy guardbreak too and relatively easy infinites. Good overhead too. You should watch gconcepts play her because he actually knows how to use her compare to everyone else who just uses her as a assist/just spam wave dash qcf k lol

She never says "Psylocke", she says "psy-blast". I love the idea of Psylocke anyway, and the whole x-men franchise. Stan-Lee said he created the x-men due to the struggles he observed blacks facing in the civil rights era. I know you guys (or many like you) don't like the word ACTIVIST but Stan-Lee was an ativist.
@@-ucanthandledatruth01-12 Im fine w activists but I’ve worked in video games and a fun fact is that her recording, she had a few takes using “Psylocke” (the characters were going to introduce themselves in their own voice at firsr) and a few using “Psyblast” and others (psyblade, psybalñ, etc) she’s saying “psylocke” because that was the best sounding One. You can only heart it as psyblast because of the British accent - but the other words she says does not have that accent. She is yelling Psylocke and we love her for that

I like because like most beautiful women (ideas) she is a pleasant discovery you could accidently overlook or underestimate. She has great speed and timing, she has great rhythm and if you work her well it looks like she's actually attacking you with dance-like moves because she is graceful in her movement. Her distant attacks aren't as ferocious as her up-close attacks but she can teleport to get in closer to her opponent, and she projects a psy-blast that she can follow behind which contributes to her inventory of ways to get up close and personal and smother you with high and low attacks while she screams out aggressively, "right here" as though she is fully immersed in the mission. And her character is deceptive because you wouldn't think she covers as much space and range as she does because they contract her body so she looks smaller than she is, but Psylocke is tall and has great reach.
Should be renamed to getting bodied by Commando with Psy speed.

I always looked at “broken” characters as “beginner friendly.” Like if you’re better than me, you choose lower tier and I choose “broken.” Balancing every character is great for tournaments, but not couch coop with someone who won’t play against me because they’ve never played before. (Also, Justin Wong beating me with the lowest tier character wouldn’t prove how OP that character is 😉.)

I always thought Psylocke was a top tier character in mvc2? Wasn't she in a ton of different tourny finals teams from years ago?
Her dp assist is top tier but she gets destroyed when she's on point against all the top tier characters. In low tier/ratio tournaments you don't get to use her op assists.
she pretty much only exists on top level cuz of Mags.. That's LITERALLY it. If it weren't for that, you'd only see people play her as a passion character, which is well, feasible to imagine lol the girl is THiCC.
Psylocke is more akin to Commando, top tier assist but loses on point to the 4 Gods. She's better than Commando but probs worse than Cyclops on point.

Don't most projectiles go through hailstorm? Mega Man buster, Ryu Hadoken, Blackheart Demons, Sentinel beams, Doom Beams....what the heck is Justin talking about? Yeah. Psylocke is good in the right hands, no question, but the fact her fireball goes through hailstorm isn't really that impressive.

Bro, do more push blocks! You are taking alot of unnecessary pressure, especially those that have no assist support. A simple push block would easily break most of the pressure. Also, try to punish jwong's assist when his psylocke is playing keep away, if you can do that consistently, he would stop calling assist that often and it increases your chance of getting in, or he would switch to rushing you and you get a chance in close quarters. Also, when you are playing characters that have good zoning, like sentinel, just keep zoning with him.
