Dude, you're killing it these days. Fantastic production as always, great storytelling, cool sponsorship, next level ingredients, and now original recipes. Consistently A+ content. Love it.
Man this drink is really hitting all the notes for me. I just got myself a pebble ice maker AND recently picked up Tropical Standard. I have a bottle of Jack Single Barrel sitting on the shelf and just made a fresh batch of cinnamon syrup. Not only that, my wife got me an Original Grain watch for my birthday last year. This bad boy is going to the top of my list.
The JB BiB is $35 and I would highly recommend it for cocktails over reg #7 or the BP. 100 proof JD with 4 years of age is a really solid flavor profile.
Hmmmm...looks nice. 🧐 Loved tropical standard's bay of pigs. We'll definitely give it a try at the weekend! Don't really recall dinks wich mix whiskey and rum - so I'm excited. How much brix is your cinnamon syrup? The TS cinnamon bark syrup or the smugglers cove 2:1?
Damn, that looks super great already on paper, Derek. Will whip one up some time soon! In terms of white rum, as an European I have access to Havanna Club, but it "only" clocks in at 80 proof. Does the White Stach has added any Jamaican Rum? Or is it just a crisp white rum? Unfortunately, most white (mixing) Rums have that 80 proof. Okole Maluna
Coincidentally I made a homemade syrup that was a riff off the cola syrup Sunday night - crazy timing with this video. Because Cherry's are in season in sonoma I made a cherry cola syrup, with vanilla, cloves, allspice, cola, acidic acid, a bag of fresh cherries and half of a grapefruit. I can substitute cherry syrup with any hibiscus. Relatively close, but also very different. I also made a riff off of the last video. I did half smith and cross and half cachaca. Worked well, but not as good as your recipe.
What a great concept and I love the name! I personally dislike the No.7 but all their other Jack Daniel’s expressions (other than Gentleman) are extremely good. I’m gonna make this with the bonded. I love the background history you’ve provided. The way you balance the content in these videos is so good. Cheers
Jack run and coke. Definitely an interesting combo. Just made one I like the uniqueness to it. It’s got a mix of flavors that you don’t normally have in a cocktail. Great addition to a tropical menu that’s looking to incorporate some bourbon drinks to suit all pallets.
''Add the CocaCola...'' [5:12] That's clearly a Mexican Coke. Reputed to still have cane sugar and the original [Pre-'80s Coke Wars] formula. Donestic Coke is all made with HFCS.
This is a "Mexican Coke" but most of that seems to be a myth. Johnny Harris did a whole video on this years ago and the only independent lab to test them showed the Mexican cokes have HFCS. Not to mention that the coke sold in Mexico is made with HFCS. It's all marketing and every taste test I've come across not one can tell the difference.
@@makeanddrink The stick-on label states Cane Sugar. But I know the government of Mexico forced soft drink makers to switch to HFCS in an effort to curb child obesity. Whether or not it's effective at that is a debate I'll leave alone. Does the Pure Food and Drug Act allow a foreign manufacturer to falsify ingredients? Or do they produce Cane Sugar Cokes for the export market? Since Safeway doubled the price on Mexican Cokes, I've left them on the shelf.
@HootOwl513 I’m just saying that there’s a very good and informative video all about this on UA-cam from Johnny Harris. The contents of the coca colas make no difference to me as the taste is identical.
@@makeanddrink I saw that video. Tired of argueing about CocaCola. I have a few bottles and cans of the old Early Eighties Coke. I'm afraid to open them. The cans mostly leaked out, but the bottles might still be good. Or changed over time inside. Who knows? Kind of like Schroedinger's Cat.
Please do a video on allspice dram! Would be really interested in the recipe you come up with. I have a ton of allspice to use after my first attempt and debating if I want to try again or just get St Elizabeth's now that it's available to me.
We made the drink - just as promised. And ...oh my god. It's so good. A bit on the sweet side. Maybe because of my 2:1 smugglers cove cinnamon syrup. Taste is perfect. Thanks for the recipe. The whiskey gets the perfect space in the flavour palette due to the rum. ❤ love it.
My wife loves Jack, and i always give her sh*t for it, since I've never really been a fan. This sounds amazing though! 🗿👍 I'll definitely have to cook this up for the two of us.
Well what has more sugar… simple syrup that’s 50% sugar or Coca Cola? Might seem odd at first, but this syrup has less sugars in it than a rich simple, agave syrup or honey.
Hey could you pipe down? We're Havana Conference over here!
Lol

Man - so jealous. Getting a pebbled ice maker in Germany is like trying to get a kiss. 😂 ..just kidding...more like impossible. Send me one - now 😁😜😢
This is a brilliant drink. I love JD and bourbon in general and I can't wait to try this. Might use Flor deCana as my white. Cheers!

Man, that music and slow mo ! Feels like revealing the magic of a century ago!
Just opened a Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye 136.6 yesterday. Delicious.
Sounds pretty interesting! Another excellent video. And the Alton Brown reference is always appreciated.
Made this tonight with Jack single barrel and Maggie's Farm white. Absolute perfection. Thank you!
That's awesome!

Finally made some more Navy Grog syrup and had to try to this out, and wow is this good. Like really very good.
Thank you!
Its awesome to have extra options for unique ingredients that would normally only be used for a single cocktail. IE Grog mix.
Damn, that looks super great already on paper, Derek. Will whip one up some time soon!

I'd love to try it with some molasses rum, like Gosling's in place of the light rum. What do you think?
Very interesting and a good use for Jack.
I can’t wait to make this this weekend. I don’t have a bottle of Jack but I guess I’m getting one! Love to see some more original cocktails

The vintage Bacardi definitely tastes better than the Carta Blanca

I been to that hotel, love Cuba

Working on it but it might be a few more months.
This looks so good
this might be close but is there a rum drink where just the rum comes through? I don’t like rum neat or ti punch.
rum old fashioned, daiquiri, mai tai. All very rum forward.

@makeanddrink funny, I was raised with the belief that coke is very sugary and bad for teeth, but good to know these scientific facts.
Sounds a lot like a Jet Pilot. Saved!
This looks killer, thank you!
Wow. Need to add this one to my list
