On tip #6 I make my own blend of four different rums just for my rum and coke . Equal parts Plantation pineapple, CaneRock, Don Q 151, and Disaronno (yes I know not a rum sue me. ) I make a 1 liter batch every few months. It might be overkill on the tasting notes, but me and the wife enjoy it. To each their own. Love your Channel keep up the great work.
One of my favorite Rum and Cola Variations I discovered during the first Covid Lockdown consists of 2cl of Barcelo Imperial, 2cl of Ron de Miel (Honey Rum Liquour), a dash of Angostura Bitters, a squeeze of Orange and/or Lime and Africola which is a german brand. It is very sweet tho. Might not be for everybody and could be seen as off balance but I really do like it a lot.
Not quite with you Bryce. If you mean you want to do a Tasting, just do your normal ratio 1:2/1:3/1:4, but just pour say 10-15ml of Rum instead of the normal big glug.
My perfect rum and coke has to be Spirited Union - Oranic Coconut and normal coke. It's too sweet to sip neat but in coke it's just perfect. There's a lot of vanilla and coconut flavors there.
"get 10 different cokes, then mix 10 rum and coke with it and blind taste 10 drinks... Then do it again but with lime!" sounds like a hell of a weekend :D
For me it’s Fritz Kola by a mile (German coke from my homecity, but the availability is growing rapidly). I use Mio Mio or Pepsi for the budget version. I love a bit of lime in my rum and coke but will give the orange a try. But I’m afraid that might take it into a darker (as in Plantation OD) instead of a brighter (as in Plantation 3 Stars) direction. I somehow can’t stand dark rum in coke.
AMAZING LEMON AND LIME WEDGE HACK (BY ACCIDENT) Hi Steve Great channel and i love the videos!!! I came across a great hack last christmas by accident i brought some lemons and limes for my dead mans fingers and cut them into wedges amd then needed to have antibiotics so i couldn’t use them so i put them in a tub in my freezer. then when I was finished, I wanted a spiced rum and Coke but i hadn’t deforested the lemons and lime wedges so i put ice in like normal and added the lemon wedge (still frozen) and I have never gone back as it keeps your drink holder for longer, and also you can taste the lemon and lime coming through in the spices rum and coke. so every time I buy lemons and limes for my drinks, I freeze them straight away as soon as I’ve cut them into wedges. PS can you please do some cocktails and a review with JJ whitley bubblegum vodka as i have bubblegum AU but im thinking of getting the JJ whitley one Thanks Danny
That idea with orange sounds great, but how would you recommend to 'insert' it? A slice of orange and 'mash' it with a spoon? Squeez an orange 'wedge'? Use fresh orange juice? I know it's best to experiment :D, but I'd like to know, how you would do that. Cheers.
Mexican coca cola is the same coca cola as most of the rest of the world from what I understand. US coca cola uses corn syrup as sweetener, mexican coca cola like most of the rest of the world uses sugar. thats the difference. So im told by my mexican associates.
Tip 2: more ice also means less of your drink in the glass. When you’re at home it isn’t an issue. When you’re out paying 10x for drinks I want all the drink I’m paying for.
You’ll never ever get more drink by asking for Less Ice. Spirits are measured. More often than not, mixers are served by bottle or Can. Cocktails even more so. As I said in the video. More Ice = Less Dilution. Not less Drink!
@@StevetheBarmanUK gotcha. Yeah. The bars I go to tend to do free pouring rather than measured pours. I’ve been to bars that always do measured pours. Sometimes you can get a heavy pour where they continue to pour from the bottle while they pour the jigger.
The flavour for me us ruined by not having sugar in the colas and the really horrible taste of the sweetners, I can taste a sweetner(aspartame, sucralose, stevia, saccharine) a mile off, just bleuhhhh!
You suggested doing a taste test with different colas. I think you need to do a taste test with different rums for each cola. From what I’ve found different rums go better with different colas. The flavors can mix a little differently and it may hit you in a surprising way. Most spiced rums tend to be either cherry or vanilla forward. You can try those with both cherry cola and vanilla cola as well as basic cola and you may find you like one version more than others (and don’t forget cherry vanilla cola). As a quick example: Mountain Dew goes well with Malibu rum. Parrot bay rum, also coconut and also from the same parent company seems to go better with cherry coke (for me).

Love the sound of that 👍

My cola is called Moxie, you can get a similar taste profile using Angostura bitters and regular Coke. Bitters make great additions to rum and cokes.
If I wanted to do a small blind what ratio (US) would I want to use?
Not quite with you Bryce. If you mean you want to do a Tasting, just do your normal ratio 1:2/1:3/1:4, but just pour say 10-15ml of Rum instead of the normal big glug.
@@StevetheBarmanUK Yeah that's what I was asking. Thank you
Those flavored colas are not really available in the US, but I'd lOVE to get my hands on some Cinnamon or Raspberry Coke==those sound delicious....
Raspberry Pepsi the British Columbia one in Canada is fantastic, though probably not available in US either.
I challange you: Dr.Pepper with spiced rum
Yeah, big Fan. I started that in my earlier Videos in 2017/2018. Love Doccy P. But we’re in the Minority.
Yup, my go to is also Dr. Pepper. Root beer not bad either
I love Dr pepper and rum. Sometimes I add some blackcurrant dilute as well. Lovely stuff
@@brycefield2489 Sarsaparilla or Baja Blast Freeze and a light rum 😮
@@cheancey Baja blast is a sleeper. A Lot of the freezes Taco Bell does mix well with rum
I've tried 7 out of 10 already!
Bumbu jand Pepsi Max. The G.O.A.T! Bumbu is so good that you can sip it neat.

Sounds like a regular thursday, which is kinda scary tbh
Does the kola bitters work well in the rum and cola, or is it overkill?
Personally I wouldn’t bother. Cola on Cola. But if you got some, try it 🤷♂️

I have to give that orange liqueur, angostura and rum & coke a go :o
You deffo should do.
SUPER YES
Diplomatico Reserva, (green bottle, I think), Gosling, Coke Classic, NO Lime for me :-) Cheers

A couple of dashes of orange bitters in a Canerock and Coke is #chefskiss
Yeah, amazing 👏👏

Just an Orange Wedge. Gently squeezed. Like you would do a Lime Wedge.
You should try out lime bitters instead of a lime wedge!
Yeah, there's a video with that somewhere. Daiquiris I do believe as I have 3 different Lime Bitters here and I experimented.
Just use a Coconut flavored Rum in your Rum n Coke and it'll instantly be better ☺😉
going to try that
Yeah, Coconut Rum can be great for those that love Sweeter Drinks 👍
Tip 11 - Change the ratio of cola and rum. The evening will be more fun...
use Bundy?
Ha. Good old Bundy & Coke!

Why would you ruin a drink with diet soda. 👎🏻
