My first time seeing Steve live was on August 19, 1977 in Fort Worth Texas at the Tarrant County Convention Center. Awesome laser light show that was way ahead of virtually every other major touring band at that time.
I sort of know Steve. Built a condominium complex and he bought one, as a matter of fact his whole band bought one each. In Palm Desert California. He was super super cool as was the band. Invited me and my whole crew to concerts and back stage passes. Kept in touch for a short while then faded off. I will never forget how cool he and the band were. Oh and he invited us to an after party at a hotel in San Diego, hotel Soledad or something like that. I never felt so important in my life
Saw him in 1981 in the old Boston Garden...the last rock show allowed there for 20 years, due to the riot duting the Aerosmith concert, the week before. PS, my future wife was at that Aerosmith concert. Didn't meet her till 1983 😊
Pompatus Nonce word Pompatus (or Pompitus) (/ˈpɒmpətəs/) is a nonce word coined by Steve Miller in his hit single "The Joker" (1973). The word is probably a corruption of-or imagined variation on-the word "puppetutes", which was itself a coinage, originated by Vernon Green at the age of 14 Never saw his face before despite this being on my first eight tracks in 1978 from Columbia House, hearing that word yet again I decided to look it up "Nonce" word....?
I have this theory that anyone who doesn't like Tom Petty for Steve Miller at least on the hey that's a catchy song level has something significantly wrong with them.
The Joker is probably Steve's worst song, unfortunately. Every group I love always has one or two I can't stand, but it's forgivable; even the Beatles.
His songs are so simple, but incredibly catchy and his voice is perfect for this style of rock and roll.
Saw the Steve Miller Band, the Beach Boys, and the Moody Blues all in one concert, at Alpine Valley, in the 80's... such good times.
Just saw him 16 Dec 2023 in st. Augustine, FL. It was so cool.
Love Steve Miller's music, been listening to it since I was 12.
Steve Miller Band was so good.
I listen to Steve Miller every week. Love this man and his music ❤

This is one of my favorite songs I never knew it was a remake. I like both of them!!
It's not a remake it's just a live acoustic version of the same song by the same artist.

"Stevie Guitar Miller"!
Ever notice that NOBODY plays Ovation guitars anymore? In the 70’s almost every band played them.
❤
I know a young boy named Maurice. I call him The Space Cowboy and one day he'll understand why.
Of the pompitous of love..
And we still have no ideas what the eff that means
Over doing it …. Success gone to its head

Maury Cope
What's a pompitous and are they endangered?
saw his accoustic rendition in 1974 at Miami Jai Alai . Was better than this one.
I lived pretty close to the Jai Alai back then
I don’t know what those 3rd and 4th lines even mean.
Camera people suck. U see his hands for a few seconds….
GOD'S 144OOO 😊❤😇👆💯
What a pompatus ? I’m 53 and still don’t know
Pompitous it's not a word it's not in the dictionary it's not in the Bible he just totally pulled that out of his Stoner ass

I don't like these short videos.
The Joker is probably Steve's worst song, unfortunately. Every group I love always has one or two I can't stand, but it's forgivable; even the Beatles.
