Nobody said he was Mario Lemieux, but it's obvious this guy has a lot of skill and a lot of talent. Why do people have to shit on what this guy is showing? Even if you are better than him, doesn't mean he doesn't have talent.
Thanks for the wonderful compliments, guys! benderb189, the best way to get that good is to be relentlessly critical of your own technique and to remember that it's much more important to practice often than it is to practice hard. Not saying that it isn't good to practice hard, obviously that's good too; but it would be better to practice for 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week than to practice for 60 minutes just once or twice a week.
I was blown away when you stickhandled through those pucks with the smart hockey ball. Did you just practice a LOT as a kid? Go to a local road hockey rink a lot? What was your secret to success? Keep these vids coming!
Soo... we're mixing some lacross techniques in . cool . Been doin that since 95 when playing for thew jr's . from Syracuse, NY . Where lacross started from the onondoga Indian nation . First saw these skills incorporated into hockey play localy and love to see the skills finally spread elwears to make the gameplay even more exciting . Yet that is one less trick up our sleeves . I will have to drill my son in this. Good Show Man !
You know, I really wish I would've. It's a sick game! It just wasn't really that available when I was younger. I hadn't ever really thought much about it until the last few years when my players started talking about it to me. I bought a spoon and I mess around once in awhile at my facility, which now has a whole area with artificial turf and lacrosse goals, but I'm not especially great with it haha
Thanks! The blue ball that I use in the video is a "Smart Hockey Training ball". I use them for the majority of stickhandling drills and small games at my facility because they have a similar feel to a puck, especially when used on the hard plastic flooring at my facility. This helps players develop timing.
Haha, thanks dude! I really appreciate the sentiment. If you really want to know, I just didn't manage my career all that well and never had the reputation to move past college. Honestly, though, I LOVE my job training hockey players so I'm not too broken up about it. Woulda been cool, though haha!
I'm using a Bauer X60 in this video, 85 flex/Kane curve, but have since switched to using a BASE hockey stick with the same flex and curve. They're both great sticks that perform really well, but I'd have to say I now prefer BASE because of the better pricing and durability. Shoot's a bit better, too. Stickhandling's about even.
Thanks, man. I played D1 hockey for 2 years, Pretty typical story why I didn't go further - politics, small size, wasn't featured enough so never built up a reputation or had a chance to improve, didn't have connections. Plus, I just didn't stand out enough. I was a very good, but very meat and potatoes kind of player back then. My hands and thinking have gotten much flashier since my career (teaching is a great way to learn). It would be cool to go back with what I know now, but... c'est la vie
I think they're just trying to pay me a compliment, not seriously asking. You and me are in agreement that there are a lot more factors than just puckhandling that determine whether you make it into the show. This video is just a novelty video meant to show off a few neat things I know how to do. I am actually a very good skater, though, but I guess you'll just have to take my word for it until I make an on-ice video ;)
I've been a Kane guy my whole career, but I'm considering trying something new with my next stick. I like anything with a huge curve that doesn't have a super open pitch (like an OV or something).
But I also think it's a myth that players should be able to keep their head up at all times, even during the game. Sometimes you use your peripheral vision to keep an eye on the puck and the game (that's why it's so advantageous to stickhandle away from your body), other times you can use the feel of the puck while you look up towards the play, but only if you're not doing anything complicated. If you are doing something complicated, then you're gonna have to look down, no matter who you are.
In my opinion, MegaFeofan, yes, there are times when you have to look at the puck. Honestly, I thought that dude's comment was silly which is why I didn't respond seriously. I mean, what does it matter if I look at the puck or the ball while doing tricks?
@ButterAndPopcorn123 wish i was, man! haha nah, i train hockey players professionally, though, which gives me plenty of opportunity to work on my hands.
.... Uh yeah.... i could probably practice 3 hours a day every day for 10 years and still not have hands that good. But i do find my self inspired.... the long road of getting back into hockey after a long hiatus
:41 I try to do that every night when it's time to pick up the pucks after practice. Harder on ice! The Zamboni guy gets pissed because he wants to go home.
Nobody said he was Mario Lemieux, but it's obvious this guy has a lot of skill and a lot of talent. Why do people have to shit on what this guy is showing? Even if you are better than him, doesn't mean he doesn't have talent.
garvoi well said. people usually shit on others because they are trying to lower the bar. They are a scourge to positivity.
That last shot was so good!
Thanks for the wonderful compliments, guys!

Amazing backhand at the end.... Mad props
nice hands. just hope you have the skating and hockey smarts to top it off ;)
HOLY. CRAP.
You've inspired me. I am actually going to do some off-ice work this Summer.
Good Job !!

pretty solid
Very well , professional Stick Tricks
whoa... speechless.
0:41 very awesome trick. Can it be incorporated into a fast game? I could see this scoring a ton, especially if done on the blocker side.

Where do you train?
What curve do u use?

Awesome
Wow that is cool
I have the exact same gloves
I learned all that stuff
1;45 was sick!

I would live in this room
Wow your good!!

I'm amazed how so many young people can do these kinds of tricks these days, yet can't elevate the puck in close or hit the net from the slot.
Do you use a p88 curve?
I sure do
really good:)
Why are you not in the IIHF or NHL or something?
what kind of flooring is that?...training tiles.
Synthetic ice
yep...do you play on a team?
he's good.
Nice
what stick?
Ooooh. Nice.
Has it really been 10 years?
Lol yep, but I'm not sure I'm ready to admit it. I'm not getting old dammit! 😂
@@BYGTraining with you on that!!
sick moves! jeezz haha
To all you people who say they can do everything he does, I highly doubt it.
Lots of people could do that now today even kids at age 12
Got some moves
I can do most of that stuff, but at 1:43 my head exploded

@ButterAndPopcorn123 wish i was, man! haha nah, i train hockey players professionally, though, which gives me plenty of opportunity to work on my hands.

.... Uh yeah.... i could probably practice 3 hours a day every day for 10 years and still not have hands that good. But i do find my self inspired.... the long road of getting back into hockey after a long hiatus
1:40 Bar dizzown, fo shizzle.
Wow!
Craz trix but I can do that last trick with stiff or flimsy twigs. Sick hands though.
:41 I try to do that every night when it's time to pick up the pucks after practice. Harder on ice! The Zamboni guy gets pissed because he wants to go home.
I WISH those were the only two things separating me from the pros! haha
