That was one of the most enjoyable videos I’ve ever seen on UA-cam.
I have a Honda UMK35 line trimmer. You’ve sold me on the pruner and hedge trimmer attachments. I was going to purchase the Honda HHH25D hedge trimmer but the trimmer attachment can reach higher areas than the dedicated hedge trimmer. And the pruner with the extension worked wonderfully well also. No need for dangerous ladder climbing.
    Fantastic video. Well done.

You did a thorough job with the pruner attachment. You didn’t just hold it up to the camera, like most ( so called) reviewers do and talk about what it can do.
Hopefully you’ll do the same with the hedge trimmer.

Reading instructions, wiping down the spilled oil to show room specs... the boy turned himself into a city slicker! His actions reminded me of my uncle who would do the exact same thing. For me, a touch of oil and sawdust on it just shows you use it and if folks don't like it, they don't have to look at it. Don't feel bad Chris, I type the same way.

Chris watching you trim those trees with your sons Honda tree trimming attachment you are leaving 4 and 5 inch spuds on the limbs you are trimming you have to trim them flush to the limb to prevent tree rot thats if you want those trees to live for many years but if you intend to take them down in the next few years it doesn’t matter.you have to cut them flush so the bark will regrow over the wone.

You know for about 20 years I used big stihl 240volt chainsaws with 20" bars without any bar oil at all. They've discontinued them now and I can't remember the model number but they were a beast of a saw. Something similar to the power of the original farm boss.
We used them for cutting poly pipe up to 1600mm diameter and the reason for no lubrication of any kind was to stop any contamination for the welding we were doing to the pipe. A failed weld could've cost many thousands so the beating the saws cost was incidental.
I can assure you the bars and chains on their saws are extremely tough.
A typical saw probably ran for 3 to 4 hours continuously every day and I guess the average life of a saw was about 10 years.
Even using no oil on the bar or chain, bars were probably swapped out after a couple of years and chains could last out 3 or 4 months before they stretched too much for the chain adjustment on the saw. We never broke a chain.
It's tough believing Stihl no longer make them because you plugged them in and they went first time every time, they were light, they were quiet with really only chain noise and they produced no exhaust and these saws were used indoors.
Hey Chris, when are we going to see some wood deliveries using that old truck. You know a cut and polish, some air in the tyres and the windows wound up and she'll be ready to go.
You can't have valuable machinery like that taking up space without it getting used.

      @InTheWoodyard  2 роки тому

I make a lot of money with that old truck as a photography prop in my other business! The saw you described sounds awesome!

The interplay between Father and son is priceless. I can’t speak for the Honda convertible power head pole saw…but I’ve used a Stihl HT131 pole pruner with 14” bar for a lot of tree jobs and borrowed my buddies Stihl combi-system trimmer, blower, power broom, pole saw a few times. The power, rigidity, and on the fly adjustability of the pro version pole pruner HT131 is way better than the combi-system IMO. Besides, not stumbling around with more pole extended than what you need to make the cut improves safety and stamina. I’m a fat fingered hunt-n-peck typist like Chris 😂

I love all things Honda too. Motorcycles, current lawn mower, cars, tiller and both single a 2 stage Honda snowblowers. I thought I was the only one ever who purchased the Honda Versattach system as they removed it from my local ACE store. It works great but it is heavy. Thanks to this video I now want the blower attachment even though I don’t need it. Tell your son if he wants a bit bigger blower or a backpack blower and still wants to remain 4 stroke he can buy what was Dolmar and now is Makita blowers. I have the both the hand held and the backpack and they work very well for the home owner. Definitely go for the larger cc backpack blower not the smaller cc backpack blower as they say larger is always better.

Great video. I’m basically sold but the only hesitation I have is the weight, and you mentioned how heavy it is a couple of times. I have a fairly large rural property and I want to use it mainly for brushcutting, and the powerhead alone is 3.5lbs heavier than the comparable Stihl Kombi. I just wonder how that weight difference will play out if you’re using it for 3 or 4 hours. Incidentally, I think you mentioned that the dry weight of the powerhead is about 9.5lbs, and I’m a little confused by that, because but the Honda website says it’s 13.2lbs.

I've got over 2 dozen traps out. Kinda pretending I live where ice isn't a thing. And you guys are playing with toys. Bryce, I'm almost 40 and my dad still steals my new toys too

Hehe, you’ve created a lot of clean up work for yourself. Does your son work with you in the photography business.? I have one of those little grease guns. Have they made a 4 stroke chainsaw yet. Do you know ?
