Thanks, one of the best videos I've watched so far. Well done.
Thank you. :-)

Great review. You are a gentleman in your comment responses as well. My hat is off to you. Had to buy a different brand of mulching blade here in the US. Oregon unit was not available, but your reviews convinced me on the blade type. Thank you very much. All the best to you.
Thank you for your kind comment. Glad you managed to get hold of an alternative. All the best to you too! :-)
Just made a purchase, yes a year after the video was made but nothing would of changed in the making, but found it cheaper guys ;)
I wanted something light weight and capable of cutting. This little string trimmer is just that ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . The battery will last about half an hour. It cuts through most weeds and grass. I wanted to see what this trimmer could do and tried cutting down some brush. It does okay with light brush but heavy brush, not so much. This is a great tool for trimming around the yard. It's not great for clearing out brush but no one would expect it to be.Out of the box, this trimmer is extremely easy to use. All I had to do was attach the guard and load the battery.
I find it easy to use. :-)
Any ideas what kit to order to attach the oregon blade. Great vid, thanks for uploading.
Can't go wrong with Honda, Just got myself the 435. I also have a F510 tiller/rotorvator with a 163cc engine. It's 23 years old and just had its first carb rebuild. It ran a dream all the way up until this year.
Agreed Patric, you can't go wrong with Honda! :-)
I use those blades on my Husky 535LK and they are phenomenal!
They are! :-)
You made my much more easier with your recommendation. Thank you. Stay well.
:-)
I wear glasses but I love that harness! The one thing that kills me when Trimming is my back. I have a good set of wireless earbuds when using weed trimmers & my Zero Turn EXMark
The harness is great. :-)
Thank you sir!...Funtastic!...Good Job!
Hi, will the Strimmer fit in the nylon bag? If not it’s no good for me
Absolutely brilliant review very well explained
Ive subscribed 👍🏻
Thank you! :-)
Very impressive results. I'm a tree surgeon. If we come across brambles we usually hit it with the hedge trimmers. Which is not great if you hit wire. Cheers fella.
Glad to help bud. Take care out there! :-)
I have a Honda hht35 with the bicycle handles and am wondering since I also am not comfortable with the is it possible to convert to the circle handle?
I doubt it, you may find someone who has done it online. I cannot get on with the handlebars either. :-)
the blade spinning is so cool
It does the job! :-)
Thank you for your video, lovely made! Isn't that possible to mulch with the Honda blade, why is it easier to work with te Oregon one?
The Honda blade does not do a very good job of mulching because it is just a horizontal blade. The Oregon blade cuts both horizontally and vertically so it chops up the brush as it is cutting it making it much better at mulching. Instead of long lengths of cut up brush, it produces short lengths. The blade is way more effective than the Honda one. :-)
I have the US model 35CC motor. Low hours on mine due to one yard with little weed area. I have noticed on a vid of this model that you should check the 13MM hex bolt on the work end of the blade shaft. This needs to be refreshed with grease now and then. So have you added grease to your machine?
I have a different head fitted now. :-)
Great video, superb video.
Thank you John. :-)
Great presentation. That machine and blade combo is a beast.
Thank you. :-)
Russell Platten - I ordered the 35cc VersAttach system recently, but I probably overbought. Your video definitively demonstrates that the 25cc powerhead has more than ample power for heavy work. It’s also lighter weight, with a smaller form factor. You live and learn, I suppose.
@@SuperPussyFinger Personally, I reckon the 35cc will be better and quicker so you probably made the right decision. The 25cc copes well enough for most situations though. You now have a future proof set up! :-)
Thanks, Russell. You’re making me feel better about my overzealous purchasing habits. If you ever need a hemi on a stick, call me. In the interim, enjoy that Honda in good health.
@@SuperPussyFinger Cheers! :-)
An excellent machine sadly let down by its hopeless instruction manual. Mine came configured as a strimmer and little information on swapping to the brushcutter blade. Luckily another vid on YT clarified this. I took your advice and ordered an Oregon cutting blade. I like your your up and down technique which reduces the brush to manageable bits. Thanks again.
Be careful out there! :-)
Nice job and thanks........From BC Canada.
Cheers from the UK. Stay safe. :-)
Most excellent review !
Thank you! :-)
great review - just bought one
:-)
Great machine 👍👍😊❤️, can't get better than Honda.
Agreed! :-)
Great review! Do you need to buy any other nuts and bolts to attach the ordgon blade?
No, it was good to go Glen. :-)
I want one but Oregon doesn't sell these in Oregon. I may order from the U.K. Where did you get the mounting hardware? Is that the Honda blade adapter kit?
The blade comes with a selection of reducing rings for various machines. I had everything I needed to connect mine to my Honda. :-)
If I want to place order for it where from will I get it & what is the cost.
Thank you so much for your fast reply!tht's what I thought! I already had a looked for it on Amazon. There is also a three blades cutter the same with three arms. Isn't 't that better? Did you try it? Thanks!
I did try it, but it was very heavy and I did not want to use it on my 25 cc Honda. It would be great for bigger machines. I was much happier with the two blade cutter. :-)
No, No, I mean the same red one which is like the Oregon that you showed but with three blades and the tops of them curved like yours.. Did you see it, did you try it? Thank you and sorry to disturb you once more :-)
Yes, that is the one I am talking about, it is much heavier than the two bladed version. I bought the Oregon three bladed cutter before I bought the two bladed cutter. There is a lot more metal on the three bladed one. :-)
Ah, ok... Maybe it's also thicker (I thought that my message wasn't sent, because it loaded non stop.) Fine! I am finished with my questions. That was it! Thank you for your patience and the time you took to answer. ...
No problem. Glad to help. :-)
Absolutely excellent video do not understand the dislikes , cheers mate I'm a Honda man myself ( mostly )
Thank you Michael! :-)
Thanks for the video! I had the intention of buying this model, but the dealer suggested the versatool trimmer. TYpe UMC 435.
On this model you can put not only brushcutter things but also weedblower and hedge trimming devices. The base (motor only) was a bit more money to spend but has more different tools in one.
It looks like a very handy machine! :-)
@@RussellPlatten Yes it is! Got it yesterday and today i ran it for the first time. I like it! Its a bit heavy, but the dealer is sending a carrying strap. I am glad that my dealer suggested this model for me! I bought the strimmer tool and the leaf blower. Maybe more in the future.
@@RussellPlatten Oh and do not forget that you can transport this machine in two parts. Thats handy when you will use it elsewhere and need to transport it in a small car. (can put it in the boot).
Can you switch sides to cut from? To hang the trimmer switching from left to right and so on…I’d imagine using one hip would get tiring easily? I’m getting my first trimmer. Thanks for the tips😊🙋♀️👋
I don't think you can. :-)
I have the same strimmer and I also have the 35cc version that you can have other attachments. I bought 2 strimmer attachments' and put the Oregon blade on one so I can swop then over easily.
Great blades.
:-)
Would I be able to get parts for it in st Vincent
And what is the price
I tried this Oregon blade on my 35 cc 4-stroke Honda (U.S. model) and here are my observations: 1. interferes with the blade guard so I had to remove it (it's a useless, tiny one on this model Honda anyway), 2. notice a bit of mid-rpm vibration with goes away at full rpm, 3. kinda spooky running the thing with no blade guard of any kind, although it's unlikely the plastic one that come with the brush cutter will stop a catastrophic failure of the blade, besides being too small in diameter to contain any shrapnel anyway. My Makita 43 cc 4-stroke (which is a way better engineered tool (besides being a beast!)) does have a blade guard that will house a 12" blade though. But this Oregon blade works way better than the 4-tooth brush blade I had on the Honda. Trims grass better and will pulverize thick weeds and bramble. The 35 cc 4-stroke has no problem bringing the 4 mm blade up to speed, and due to the momentum of the heavy blade, I can use part throttle for most of my cutting.
It is very effective for thick stuff. :-)
Unfortunately discontinued due to Makita sticking to electronic devices.
Thanks, really good review! Link only points to 4mm thick blade nowadays, will this still fit do you think? Cheers! :-)
It should. :-)
If there a brush cutter attachment that works with curved shaft trimmers? Anyone have a link to one?
Not sure. :-)
Hello from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 beautiful video
Hi from the UK. :-)
Great review
Thank you. :-)

do u recommend to change the guard for the blade great video thankyou
That is a decision you need to make yourself Brad. If the guard fits with the blade attached it is he safer option. :-)
Hi can i use Honda UMC425 for commercial use. Pls advise
I am not in a position to answer that question as I do not use mine for commercial use. Try contacting Honda. :-)
Thank for your review sir. Just a few questions. How long can we run the machine before it starts heating and shuting down itself?
I have had no issues with mine shutting down at all. I reckon the most I have used it for is two or three hours in one session. Most of the time it is usually less that an hour. :-)
I learned sadly that you can indeed go wrong with Honda and my water pump based upon the same power-head was the very thing to teach me the lesson. Engine problems/poor oiling system and badly threaded pump housing have caused me no end of headaches trying to use it to pump clean rain water from one tank to another with virtually no head lift. Sad as I always thought like you regarding Honda. For my upcoming brush trimmer purchase it will likely be a Stihl.
Sorry to hear that. Mine is still going strong. I have Stihl gear too and it is also very good quality. The only issue is that mine is 2 stroke. :-)
@@RussellPlatten Yeah, better not to have to breath toxic fumes when you can avoid them!
This is a great video and a lot of effort put into it. I think the dislikes are from people who aren't front the UK and can't understand your Northern accent😆
Glad you enjoyed it Daniel! :-)
Hi Russell ! Do you still have the brushcutter ? What has your experience with it been like ?
I do still have it and it is a great tool! :-)
excellent review - just bought a used honda gx35 on ebay
Glad I could help! :-)
Hello, how much is it for one, and where can I get it ?
Just search for Honda UMK45LE. :-)
Hi Russ.
I wanted to ask if the carburetor on the Honda has adjustment screws on it? I'm asking because I have a 2-stroke Oleo Mac petrol/strimmer and has been an absolute nightmare to start since I bought it. It is my first petrol strimmer and I was a bit naive when I bought it. I've stripped the cab down and cleaned it I don't know how many times trying to get it going but it hasn't got any adjustment screws only an idol. I've even used Aspen 2 ethanol free fuel to see if that works to no avail. I'm going to get rid of it and buy a Honda. Does the 4 stroke engine have less trouble than a 2 stroke? Excellent video.
I have never had to touch mine Peter and I have used it a lot. It starts very easily, my wife uses it a occasionally too and it is a great strimmer. Honda make good quality gear!
The 4 stroke engine is a joy, no mixing required. Just pour in the petrol and start working. :-)
@@RussellPlatten Hi again.
I just bought the exact same model. Before I start using it, what fuel do you recommend. Regular 4 star, Super-unleaded or Aspen 4?
I want to start using the best I can first as last.
Thanks.
@@The4thDensity I just use regular unleaded Peter! :-)
I liked the review.
Thank you. :-)
What a beast!

Can you get the Honda UMK425LE (or similar) in The States? Good video!
Yes, I reckon you will be able to get this or something similar in the USA George. :-)
Got one and best money I spent proper game changer
Agreed! :-)
Don't want to be a nag but one thing you forgot when talking about safety was ear protection. Aside from that great video! First video of yours I have watched and I really enjoyed it. Would appreciate more videos on some of your other equipment! I use Stihl personally but have also used Honda for some equipment. Great stuff! 👍👍👌👌
Cheers Ben, point taken regarding ear defenders. I have a few videos reviewing various products, you may find something that interests you. Thanks for taking the time to comment. :-)
@@RussellPlatten Great stuff! Very detailed video of yours and very informative! Keep up the great work!

where can you purchase such a blade kit
Amazon. :-)
A good video but the link on Amazon to the oregon blade you've put up is for the 4mm blade, whereas in your video you say to get the 3mm blade. I followed your & link bought two of the damned things, and when they arrived it was pretty obvious they're far too heavy for my machines, and now have to send them back! The part No. For the 3mm blade is 295504-0. The part No. For the 4mm blade you've linled to is 295505-0
Sincere apologies, I have changed the link. :-)
Ok so today i got my honda weed wacker decided to go honda over stihl n echo, runnin out of mixed oil n havin to run to store n waste to get was not an option.
Now i love your vid, im from Texas and can seem to find for my place other than for our brothers in U.K
Do you have a link for us other side the pond for that blade i need?
There's a link to the blade in the video description JJ. :-)
HONDA over Stihl anytime.
Anytime you buy a Stihl it won't be long before you throw it out.
im only 13 and think the most satisfying feeling ever is strimming away a pile of nettles after winter
It is very satisfying Samuel! :-)
Why don’t you guys put steel razor blade on to a bolens weed eater too
two or four stroke engine?
Four stroke so no mixing of fuel required. :-)

when you bought the Oregon blade sharpen it ?
It arrives sharp and ready to use George. I have resharpened the blade three times since I got it and I have done a lot of work with it. :-)
Best vedeo I watched what is the price maintanence cost
You need to look around for an up to datw pride. As for maintenance, It just requires oil changes, filter changes and the odd spark plug, just like any other machine. I have not done anything on mine since I got it. :-)
Phenomenol
:-)
Does it have vtec
No. :-)
Honda is great 👍👌 cutting it 👍💪👍👍
You can't fault Honda! :-)
I like Honda they make great equipment, but for weedeaters, Stihl is my go to thanks for sharing
Stihl do produce quality equipment Leo. I have can Stihl chainsaw. Thank you for your comment. :-)
What's it's price
It varies, have a look around online. :-)
The handle (without the harness) on this machine is best for very precise control.
Bike handles with body harness is much better for long hours (less accurate) tiring work.
I agree! :-)
Ben de bir tane aldım. Çok memnun kaldım.
Beğenmene sevindim! :-)
a 25cc for this job??? i has the same machine after 1 years and several job from cut grass to cut hard stuff the oil copper crack! too much stress for this little one
No issues with mine, but I do not use it all the time. :-)
Simon I have both, the 25cc is very capable also lighter. The 35cc is heavier but lots of torque and with a mulching blade on nothing stands in its way.
@@chucky2316 absoluty for me 35cc is the best
@@PescatoreFocoso I don't think it's any better just better suited for brush cutting, that blade doesnt stop once it's going on the 35cc. The 25cc is better on fuel. I like both my Honda machines been very happy 👍. I think Russel should treat himself to the 35cc he won't look back 🤣😂.
@@chucky2316 I hope you can tell me if there is much difference in the weight of the 25cc versus the 35cc and would the 25cc cut though Olearia Traversii hedging?
I am trying to decide if I should buy the 25cc Honda VersAttach or the 35cc VersAttach. (Using the line strimmer and the hedge trimmer).
I only have light grass strimming around the edge of my garden to do weekly which I am sure a 25cc would be well capable of doing judging by the this very good video.
In terms of hedge trimming I need to trim about 35 metres long x 2 metres high (115ft long x 6ft high) of Olearia Traversii hedge 2 to 3 times per year.
I think the 25cc would be lighter to use for the tricker parts of the hedge as it usually takes me about 1 hour to cut both sides with my current 52cc 2 stroke multi tool hedge trimmer/ strimmer which is heavy enough.
My concern is would the 25cc be strong enough to cut through the light twigs of Olearia Traversii hedging?
I am 40 years old and have an old sports shoulder/neck injury and I am trying to go with the lightest option that gets both jobs done. The 35cc is probably lighter than my current 52cc 2 stroke but if the 25cc can get both jobs done I would choose that as it is the lighter of the two.
Good friend
Thank you! :-)
Budi Prakoso is right, a Stihl FS450 etc would be perfect for the type of job seen here.... oh, you really should've invested in some PPE... ( notably a had hat with a visor ) !!!

Ok for a garden but it won't last long if it's worked hard, the Stihl 4 mix machines are much more powerful and reliable.
So far so good! :-)
I’ve got the 425 and 435 and have used both professionally for 2 years, no problems whatsoever. I sometimes have to use a Stihl KM130 4-mix as the customer insists on me using their kit! I hate it, it’s noisy, smelly, and temperamental when it gets hot. The only advantage the 2-stroke kit has over 4-stroke is it’s lighter weight. I’ll never buy another piece of 2-strike again.
I agree, 4 stroke engines are so much easier. No need to carry 2 stroke oil and mixing bottles. Much less noise, cleaner exhaust and in the case of Honda 4 stroke engines, easier to start. I will never buy a 2 stroke trimmer again either! Thanks for your comment, it is good to get a professional's opinion on the 425. :-)
If you mix more than a tank or two at a time then you don't have to carry bottles, or valve adjustments.
