Geezer, you say it doesn't look perfect, but you've made it look a million times better, and close up I can't see a single chip.
Great work.
I will give this a go on my very stone chipped Audi S3. Thanks a lot for the great video.
This is amazing. When I saw it first i thought oh he didnt just do that. Then i seen the car and was like hes either going to make a decent job of this or this is going to go so so wrong. First class job and costs pennys compared to full respray. Fair play mate. Job very well done. Massive difference.
It could possibly save people alot of money 👍🏻
Thanks!!!! This is awesome!! I knew there were better ways to deal with road rash and scratches at home in the garage!!!! Great results!!!!
Another great video. love the way you always keep things simple for us mere mortals! Keep up the great videos mate!
Excellent video mate, so glad I came across your channel. Would you add some type of clear coat afterwards to help protect this?
My VW Amarok has plenty of this rash from 1000’s of km’s on Aussie dirt roads, I’m definitely going to give the old girl some love and try this
It can work wonders 👍🏻
Excellent there on the way more clips cheers my friend.👍
Thanks for watching mate
@@cvrpov cheers mate great work
Outstanding! I am going to try this on my car.
👊🏻👊🏻
Make where you test on something else first see what result you get
Quality job 👌
Thanks man
Nice job. How long does this tend to last without a clear coat? Is it something you need to repeat over time or is it a durable fix? Is it susceptible to damage when hand washing or jet washing?
Would this and the wet and dry method u have used in other video get the car to that deep gloss finish? Do u use any special products to wash car after? Do u have tips how to get that ' duck back' water roll off
Thanks
Brilliant video.
Nice one
Hi, great video. What do you mean by solvent paint? Like a touch up pen from halfords? Would that be solvent?
yes it is. www.paintgear.co.uk if your in the UK.
I've been repairing road rash similar to this for 25 years, for the car dealerships, They can't send them to the body shop and spend thousands of dollars, but I can give them a decent repair and the customers are happy.
So just using base coat, no clear or other additives and then compound and polish and call it a day?
Thank you for the content. What prep work do you do before you apply the paint?
Do you clean with De waxer or ISO or Rust remover?
I assume you rely of the gloss finish to make the removal of the applied paint easier?
Just a clean car is all that is required. Ie after a thorough wash
I Watch already a number of video’s from you but I have these small stone chips on the hood (you can barely feel them but they are white on the black paint) can you do this method as well on the hood? I know the method for the big stone chips but to use same method for the small ones is difficult…
Hi, great video, do you add your shine liquid to the base coat or is it just the base coat alone. Thanks
Base and gloss enhancer but base on its own works
Brilliant. I didnt think solvent base paint would hold up
If does pretty well
Looks really good and straightforward. Are you not worried that the base coat you are using will cause a reaction due to the incompatibility of materials?
Kind regards Paul
Hi Paul. No, there is never any reaction when doing this
Excellent result, have you tried wet sanding with 3000 grit before polishing the paint to reduce the clogging of the pad? Or is slower with the extra step?
I dont think the process would benefit from this.
So slower is better I do know that hire great is less gouging and smoother for base cost because it will mirror on top cost
Nic job I’ll use it
Good stuff
Thanks 😊
no problem
Brilliant. Did you add some lacquer to the solvent paint, or use it neat?.
Neat solvent paint mate on this one
Perfect. My paintgear kit arrived complete with pads and compound so will get cracking Great series of videos. Thank you 🙏 👍
Hi, I have a question, is the color you put on the car the color itself without the clear coat? I want to repair my car, so I need some advice.. Thank you for your reply Michal Prague
It is solvent base coat on its own. Not thinned down
I have a touch up pen left with some paint, can I use it to rub it into the rash?
Or is the paint mixed with something else?
It should work if its solvent paint
What would you recommend for paint for a white Tesla? The door says it’s pearl white multi coat (PPSW) thank you.
I'd probably just use the basecoat white. I think your colour is a 2 stage pearl
hi man, what is a gloss enhancer? Varnish? It's just that I live very far away and I can't order your kit, please suggest an alternative way
It is like a varnish/clearcoat yes. You don't have to add it.. I just think it helps. Normal untainted solvent basecoat will do the job
Hey mate, any chance you could ship to Czech Republic?
Not at the moment but we are looking into it
So the paint you rubbed in with a cloth was normal solvent base coat paint with thinner and no clear coat ?
Yes. Not thinned down though
With or without reducer, Boss??...
TYVM 💯👍
without... or very little
Does the paint you use have clear coat mixed in with it
I use www.paintgear.co.uk which has its own gloss enhancer mixed into it. Neat solvent paint usually is suffice tho
Polish as in Wax or polish with a liquid Compound?
Compound 👍🏻
Where do you get the paint from?
From a body shop ? Or where ?
I mix my own. www.paintgear.co.uk if your in the Uk
@@cvrpov is that paint mixed with clear?
Whats the abrasion specs is the compound?
Fairly high
Can this be "locked in" using repeated applications of ceramic coatings?
Yes it can
Lock it on with Ppf. That’s what I’m about to do .
I've also learned if it's a Metallic color, to mix up some non metallic color as close as You can for covering the road rash, then go over it again and touch up the larger chips with the proper paint color.
That's what I did because my car paint had an undercoat
Would metallic paint work this way?
This was metallic
Great tips love the video and by the way has the owner of this car let you go for a spin on this car lol thank you for the video
Yes he did 😅

Does acrylic enamel paint work?
Not sure on that one buddy
@@cvrpov I used solvent based touch up paint and worked like magic 👍🏽
That’s looks easy and doable I think I’ll go ruin my door now! Thanks 😂
Haha ok
Is that just solvent base coat like what you would spray before clear or does it have clear mixed in?
Just solvent base
@@cvrpov so it wont last much
@@CharliesMaidenCovers it should last quite a long time, remember it's only the little defects on the paints surface that are actually holding any of the new paint. I've tried this method on my old car and it lasted a good 18 months before any of the old road rash began to show through again.
@@loojishtc9899 when i bought my car, there were some reparis like that, only base coat applied by brush and after few months pressure washer took it off
You need to add 50/50 paint to clear
Can you get these Paint Kits sent to the USA?
Not at the moment but we are working on it
I guess this method does not work with 2K paints repair kits?
Paint already mixed with clear coat?
www.paintgear.co.uk paint is pre mixed with a gloss enhancer
Is that 1k base coat? Or 2k?
1k solvent
Did you say Solvent Paint?
Think so
Fab that
Thanks Dale
Well I figured out what I been doing wrong... my solvent 1k urethane basecoat isn't drying as fast as your paint. I let it dry half a sunny day and then it buffs off flawless... wow 😂
Good stuff man
@cvrpov you use lacquer mostly in the UK?
I noticed the clearcoat over there is like a super thick layer
If I was watching on April the 1st
I be expecting and a big April fools.
But no well done.
If would take so balls to try this at home on my car 🚗
Haha its no joke
where can i get this paint in the US?
www.paintgear.co.uk only ships to the UK at moment. We are looking for a supplier in the US
Loos good, it would be better if you do the touching up first because the paint fills the chip better.
You could do this yes
great content, but I wish you wouldn't edit the video to cut short the buffing process. I want to see how long it takes in reality. Watching you work away at it and then suddenly switching to wiping down with a micro fibre cloth leaves me wondering how much was cut. It's not boring, it's really useful.
People would switch off, unfortunately
@@cvrpov ah, that is informative as it tells me you buff for far longer than it appears. Which is why I don't get the results you get. If you can't show it all, can you say or put text on screen to tell how long it takes?
Why not just mix the paint with some clear
Because it won't work
If there is even one person who tried it and worked, you can pierce my nose with a needle.
If you apply too little paint, it will come off after the polishing; if you apply more paint to fill the chips then removing the excess paint is a mathafucka; dont try it with a drill.
Just let the next owner deal with it...
Clarification question please!! Was the initial paint used "matched" and purchased specifically with this car's paint code or was it just something close?? Thank you in advance for your answer.
I had it matched by www.paintgear.co.uk
Can I buy a 1L amount of paint from that website ?
We don't do that size paint
