    Mind if I ask a couple questions?
    What ‘base’ coat should I be using? Can I use a spray tin from Halfords that’s the same colour as the car, or do you use a generic colour?
    How long between applying the paint and then buffing it?

    Hi, thank You for the video. I’ve tried Your method. I’ve used the spray paint from can with exact number of color to match with my car’s color.
    But I didnt spray it directly on a car, I made few sprays to a cup and then I applied to a car with my finger - as was shown in video.
    The paint seemed a bit transparent and too much liquid, so I aplied 2 layers and then waited about ten minutes and then it was literaly IMPOSSIBLE to get the coulour out with the rotary pad 🙈
    So how long time is best to wait? 3, 5 minutes? Is the colour cured, when you begin to polish it, or is it still sticky to touch ? Thank You!

      Foam pads can be maintained dragging a screwdriver across a DRY pad at high speed. This will remove the abrasives/foreign material in the pad. Careful to angle the bit so it’s not too aggressive OR pointing into the rotation. Haven’t tried on wool or terry cloth, but it works great on foam.

      @cvrpov By two stage do you mean any car with a metallic base and clear? Thats what i have, light colour too on my 97 lexus. Trying to find a work around bc the last owner "touched" in about a dozen chips and a deep key scratch and they've all come out a darker shade AND theyre not flush at all just painted chips. Maybe a rush job and not a proper paint match. Might try adding hardener letting it sit in the lid for a few mins and trying the card swipe method as well as the crown and wet sand method. One chip at a time and see what works...

    • @Calicarver
      @Calicarver 5 місяців тому

      @@pixelbath2131 Thanks, that sounds like it might work. My plan is to simply carefully place a layer or two of (metallic) color paint into the chip "hole", then fill with clear and sand down with 1000 then 2000, then polish. these chips are about 2 - 5 mm diameter

    Hi The Paintgear kit however has our premixed lacquer agent in the paint, So are you saying that there is a clear mixed in with the solvent paint...OR not.. Cheers. Regards

    • @cvrpov
      @cvrpov  Рік тому

      The method works with just solvent base on its own. In the paintgear kit I add an additive which is similar to lacquer but not actually lacquer as I personally think it adds 20% effectiveness to the process. Half the jobs in the video were with and f without.

    How long do you let the paint dry for? I'd imagine if its left too long it'll be almost impossible to get it off with just a polishing machine. So i'm guessing there's window of opportunity in terms of... when to buff?

      Hi. No I can't. I use this method every day. 8 or 9 times out of 10 there is improvement on the scratch. It's not perfect or 100% success rate. Obviously a respray is needed to ultimately fix the issue completely. The product from Paintgear Is to try and help people maybe avoid having the car painted.
