I love the structure of your reviews Tom. Fun, real world tests against competitor and straight to the point. Thanks for a adding a flare test ❤️
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you're enjoying the format 🤘
Great review~ Looking forward to the next comparison video~!!!
Thanks Sheldon, appreciate it 🤜🤛
Thanks for the quick and good review! I look forward to the upcoming comparison : ) The FE 200-600 has that short and fast zoom throw..yes small birds are often (always) at 600mm but locating them is easier if you can quickly zoom in.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I hope you enjoy the next one 😁
@@TomCalton I'm excited for that comparison test too! Thank you for the great overview, and the upcoming big test.
Bloody good review. Ticks all the boxes and some epic samples too.
Thanks, appreciate it! 🤘🏻
Nice Lens and great video 👌🏻😁Subscribed and looking forward to the comparison
Thank you, and welcome aboard! 🤜💥🤛
Thanks for the review :)
You're welcome! Thanks for watching 🤜💥🤛
Nice review. I can't wait to see the multi lense comparison video as I'm in the market for a big zoom.
Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy the next review too 🙂
ooohhh boyyyy...really excited about the comparison beetween this new boy and the sony 200-600 and the others.. 🔥🔥
Me too! I think it's going to be an interesting match up!
Great video! Waiting for the comparison 😊
Thank you! Hope you like the next video 🙂
Awesome review/comparison! Love the kid on dirt bike photos! Nailed it!
Thanks big man, appreciate it 👍
@@TomCalton are you calling me fat? 😉 lol
Haha! I wouldn't dare - I'm pretty sure you could pulverise me 🤣
@@TomCalton 😂😂😂
Informative and great review. Appreciate the effort you have put in to make this!!. One suggestion though. The title of the video is misleading. for me, this is not a review of the lens. in fact, it's a comparison between old and new lenses. So changing the title would be great 🤩. Enjoyed the video!! cheers!
Excellent video Tom . I have the the old canon version adapted to my Sony A7RIII using the mc11 adapter which I use for aviation and wildlife . I am toying with trading this in for the new version or the Sony 200-600. I will wait anxiously for your next comparison video .
Glad you enjoyed the video! I hope the next one is just as helpful to you ☺️
Great video as always, nice info and amusing! Be nice if you did a handheld video test for lenses as well because some of us tight arses don’t want to buy a tripod! Could get decent footage with sigma 100-400 handheld, be ace if it was remotely possible with a longer lens.
Great suggestion! I'll definitely bare that in mind - thanks!
I love the structure, it excellent
Outstanding video. I'm after a lens like this for wildlife and airshows. Looking forward to the comparison video pitting it against Sony.
Thank you! Hope you enjoy the next video 👍
Thank you for the side by side comparison between the new DG DN lens and the older DG HSM lens. Since there are multiple advantages to the new lens, will Sigma be offering it with the Canon and Nikon mounts to replace the HSM version?
Not that I'm aware. At the moment the DG DN line is just for mirrorless cameras and they only offer them in Sony E-Mount and Leica L Mount. They may branch out to Canon and Nikon mirrorless cameras in the future, but who knows if/when that will happen.
Excellent review. Now expecting the upcoming comparison w/200-600. While having already looked at someone else’s, I think two major points for the Sigma - at least for me - would be the increased portability (5-6cm are a good bonus) and the lower price (appx 400-500 euros less in Italy), while enjoying some added features like the included arca swiss mount, “pump zoom” and accessories. Using it even for astro (moon and would try DSO), it would be interesting to know if the lack (?) of teleconverter compatibility (1.4-2x) would affect a lot the result - or any trick would exist to use the L-mount tc’s (or Sigma will find an agreement with Sony). I’m currently using an A7r3 (with potential future upgrade to the r5 as a second camera… for my wife, as I’m not a pro).
Nice review!
Any chance you can include the sigma 100-400 in your comparison video?
And btw, congrats on getting the lens for pre-review!
Thanks bud 👍
I probably won't include the old Sigma in the next test, purely because it's not a native Sony E-Mount lens. It was relevant in this video because it's what the new lens is replacing, so it's interesting to see whether it's truly an upgrade or not. I hope that makes sense!
@@TomCalton I meant the sigma 100-400 DG DN! Thanks for considering comments!
Oh yeah, in that case, absolutely! It'll be between the new Sigma, Tamron and the two Sony options
Have you tried the tamron 150-500mm e Mount ? If so how would you say it compares to this one besides the obvious 100mm difference on focal length ?
Not yet, but I do have it in for review and will be making my next video very soon in which I'll be comparing this new Sigma against the Tamron and the other two Sony options as well 👍
Drier than a nun's... country side 🤣 seriously though, great review, thanks. To the point and full of good info.
Thanks David, glad you enjoyed it! 🤜💥🤛
I think you're my new favorite camera review channel. I think you're even funnier Jared Polin 😂
Although I gotta say that nun country side comment might have gotten you some negative points in heaven hahaha
Thanks man, I appreciate that! 🤜🤛
It's already too late for me dude - I reserved a first class ticket all the way to Satan's funland years ago 😅
tears!!!😂😂😂😂
Nice !! i m waiting for the comparaison! 🔥
Hope tomorrow 😂
This Friday brother 👀
Thanks for the review! What do you think about this lens for a6300? I've got the Sony 70-350, but I could use some extra reach for wild animals...
Thanks for watching! Yeah, this would certainly give you a ton of extra reach!
@@TomCalton But wouldn't be it hard to shoot with such a small body and a big lens? I mean, taking a position and waiting would be great, but walking with it... and I like to walk when taking photos :)
To be honest, the lens is front heavy even on my A7III, so I mainly used it with a monopod attached. And if you're going to do that then it doesn't really matter how big or small your camera is as the centre of balance is shifted to the lens collar.
@@TomCalton Monopod is a great tip, thanks :) I've tried the lens on my body and it's really well balanced, even holding. But the weight is a killer one, especially considering the 70-350. Got a lot to consider now, thank You for the help Tom
@@TomCalton sir I have one question ..can we use this lens on Sony a6400 without any adptor ????
hello, Is it possible to run the SteadyShot option on the camera body with this lens on your A7m3? greetings
I’ll save that for later with my therapist 😂 was not expecting that!
Neither was my therapist 😅
@@TomCalton 😂 yes
Look at you getting lenses for early review 👏🏽
I got the hook up yo 😜
@@TomCalton Expecting a Sigma 150-600 DG DN vs MC-11 adapted Sigma 150-600 DG OS HSM Contemporary comparison video... 😂 No pressure
DG OS HSM C at $900 new and used almost half the price of the new DG DN... It will make for an interesting comparison.
I can't find your video you said you were doing right after this comparing this Sigma to the Sony and Tamron lenses. Did you do that video?
Here you go ua-cam.com/video/1APFXYwUGf4/v-deo.html
Hello Tom, thanks it is a superB conclusion. I would like to film motocross, and i am searching for the most suitable lens for my a7s3 body. My question would be, mostly which range did you use? 70-200not enough? What do you think? Based on your experiences with 150-600. Thanks. Peter
Hey Peter. It's true, I did find myself using the shorter end of the zoom range on this shoot, however, I was lucky enough to be able to get close to the track, so a superzoom wasn't strictly needed. If you're not able to get this close then having the reach of 600mm would be a God send. I shot a football match the week after and I was pretty much glued to the 600mm end because I couldn't get close to the action. I hope this helps!
Excellent Tom, I think you are a demigod 😅
In that case, that must make you a Messiah then right? 😜 Thanks brother - hope you're well!

I recently bought the 100-400 for my sony a7rIII 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫.
Now I WANT this 😫
I waited with the purchase of the 100-400 because of the rumors about the 150-600..... but now i'll probably have to spend 400€ more than i wanted to spend🙃🤐
Are you happy with the 100-400 tho?
Before you go selling the 100-400mm, it might be worth waiting for my next video as I'll be testing it against this new sigma. Might give you a better idea of which is the better of the two?
Is this lens suitable for photographing sports competitions inside sports halls? Sports like basketball, weightlifting, etc.
Jumped straight into this after watching the product announcement. Can't wait for the comparison against its rivals! Great vid!
Thanks Jazz, appreciate it! 👍

❤ magnifique
I have the canon mount and Metabones for Sony a7r2 & 7r4. Don't think Ill try to trade up
3:25 for a moment is seemed for me that these were switches on a fkcng big railgun
The old one is about the size and weight of a railgun 😅💪
when you review a len put the len melemeter how far or distance you take the photo and video of the len so that the viewer know how far and distance it is and the of the video stabilization thanks
hey enione use this lens with z cameras ?
I'm seeing some conflicting report online about this lens. Some say it's sharper than the Tamron, some says the Tamron is sharper. Some say it's not that sharp on the long end, some say the autofocuse isn't that consistant when tracking high speed activity, I really hope it's just some early sample issue, not the sample variation that Sigma is known for.
I guess we'll find out in the next video whether it's better or worse than the Tamron. Sometimes it's really hard to call an overall winner if the image quality results are super close!
Does it work with sony 2x teleconverter
No, unfortunately not
Does it suck in dust?
Can i use this with a nikon d850?
Unfortunately not - it's only available in Sony E-Mount and Leica L-Mount
Been looking at the 150-6 for a while now, but also looking at canon 100-4 as the sigma is a heavy monkey
Now please sigma, do it Rf version for the R5
I agree. I hope Sigma aim to bring their DG DN lineup to Canon and Fuji mount cameras soon. Seems like a missed opportunity to me.
Why you don't review APSC Lenses? Sony e35mm f1.8 OSS vs e50mm f1.8 OSS will be a very interesting comparison😎
Start reviewing Smartphone cameras too, and you'll get a lot of views😎
I do have plans to review some APS-C lenses (my video before this was APS-C lenses in fact), so definitely keep an eye out for future videos 👍
@@TomCalton that’s great! in that case, please compare this one with the Sony 70-350! I’ve always been curious about how that one compares to these 3 times heavier lenses!

I like the lens but it is "only" 200 euro cheaper then Sony 200-600. And it is not supporting 30fps and 1.4x/2.0x ...
I guess we'll see in the next video whether it can contend with the Sony. It'll be an interesting match up for sure!
@@TomCalton I find the 200-600 at 2000€, the Sigma is announced at 1400€ so it's more than just 200€ cheaper, right?
@@alexverbeke2228 Same in this Nordic country, the FE 200-600 is ~2200e, this Sigma intros at 1500e, that's quite a difference. The Sigma is also around 100e less expensive than the Tamron 150-500 which seems to have been a bit funkily priced in parts of Europe
Its a NO from me, would still rather have the Sony 200-600..........
What puts you off the Sigma out of interest?
