Hi Tom,
The 150-600 will have a new firmware soon, according to Sigma, with better OS (from 4 to 6.5 stops) and AF-C performances, meaning that the 60-600 probably doesn't have a better stabilization but just an optiimized firmware. Good news but it would be also good to let us know when they build something hardwarely better or when it's only a matter of software, because in the first case you can't expect better without buying new...in the other you can complain when they do NOT upgrade (and I don't especially talk about Sigma) ^^.
And what with stabilisation comparison? Can u record wider review about this part?
Do you plan to test the Tamron 50-400?
Great video Tom. I take this opportunity to wish you my best wishes for this new year 👌
What's going wrong with Sigma,I would really like a prime 600mm or 500mm f4 dg dn for sony will it compete with the sony 600mm f4 which costs 14k
If they released a 16-60mm f2.8 the 60-600mm would be way more tempting
Great video! I was in between which I should get, I’m definitely getting the 60-600 lens
I have been asking specifically for this lens on the e-mount for the last couple years.
Great video!!! !
@Tom Calton My pleasure! I got the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary, on Canon R5, I wonder if the 60-600mm will be for sharper? I don't know what happened to the 150-600mm but recently, it's not sharper at all..
The price tag of the 60-600mm is high for me, right now..
that lens came out in 2018 or so for DLSR
Sublime Video, you are doing a really, really good job at comparing lenses with all of their features!
Only one suggestion: Next time you could also do an af tracking test, starting at the zommed in long end and ending in the zoomed out wide end. ;)
Thanks Paul, appreciate the feedback. We'll definitely bear this in mind for future videos.
Great and fun review. But the 150-600 should be the sharper lens overall. I really wonder why it turned out inferior to the 60-600 in your review. The MTF charts really are quite different and I saw some comparison reviews as well, where the expected sharpness difference did indeed show.
you provided as much info as the other cam influencers about this but i subscribed because of your sign and for you definition of HLA.
Which one is best to film UFOs far up in in the sky during lowlight to dark situations?
@@TomCalton UFO observation is a very serious business, it is not a laughing matter. A serious professional tool like a 600 F4 is a perfect tool for the cause.
Also time consuming. Nice focus ring with short travel is important for manual focus. Auto focus is getting better too with these motors. Be able to zoom-in fast on the objects is handy. Sharpness at max zoom is key and Low-light capability is important oo but a great low-light sensor can compensate. They can materialize out of nowhere or fly in/out with great speed. Very challenging until they hover at fixed position.
@@Giovanni-Giorgio I think that af tracking of sony cameras is very good. So even if the Ufo goes out of focus you can still count on Sony to get it back in focus. However, the aliens sitting inside the ship should not notice us, or else they will take those crazy 90 degree turns and disappear fast .
I've had the Sigma 150-600mm Sport, I now have the Sigma 60-600mm and as far as that part where it the image quality was better with the 150-600mm, I have always gotten better images with the 60-600. There are good copies and bad copies of lenses so maybe you had a bad copy of the 60-600 or I had a bad copy of the 150-600mm because mine blows the 150-600 away on image quality.
Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG DN Art? Nope.
Sigma 135mm f/1.8 DG DN Art? Nope.
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN Sport? Almost, but nope.
Sigma 30-150mm f/2-2.8 DG DN like Tamron’s? Nope, but it’s a wide range if focal length!
It’s like Sigma is trolling, I wonder how many people actually buys these lenses.
Considering that there are already many 50mm f/1.4 and f/1.2, I hope Sigma would make a f/1.0 DG DN.
0:08 it isnt, there is also canon RF 24-240
4:14 😆🤣😂
You are so funny !
Sigma released another lens no one asked for.. yikes
Haha. Doesn't mean it's not a good lens, it's just that there are a bunch of much more popular lenses people are absolutely screaming out for (and have been for the past few years) that Sigma are (for some reason) not making. Instead we get niche lenses like this and their i-series lenses.
Being a user .of the 150-600c
Had to laugh at your review .. when you failed to prove if the mount offers stability to the lense .. when fixed to a tripod . And the foot is still too fucking short nor will it offer stablilty to the lense when locking the tripod .
And since the 150-600c is 10 yrs old Sigma hasn't bothered there arse releasing any firmware updates .. . I wasted my money on the USB Dock . What garunteee's can Sigma give there will be firmware updates .. for the Mirrorless Version
FAR too many ads, couldn't watch.
Unfortunately UA-cam has recently taken away control from creators regarding ad placement in their videos, so not much I can do about that I'm afraid 🤷♂️
But if you don't like ads, may I suggest paying for a premium subscription instead?
@@TomCalton I understand the lack of autonomy, but refuse to be forced to pay. There were four adverts and out of principle, will not watch resulting content.
"In a highly suggestive manner" is the best part of the video 😀😀😀
