Basically, those videos were saying that the little wooden stick cannot handle THE GREAT Italian cuisine. The voiceover used really ironic and disdainful tone and words as if the model in the video don't know anything about the food nor how to appropriate it.

That male voice in Chinese but the grammar sounds quite unatual and very western. I assume that comes from Gabbana.
BTW when the woman is eating cannoli, man:
"Finally something you are managed to handle"
"Is that too big for you?" ( 'you' is plural form in Chinese).
"You may stick into the cannoli then eat it"
"Yes, good, keep eating that way "
Which is kind of offensive to me.

I’m a Chinese girl living in Italy for 10 years. As to explain clearly all the situation so I decide to comment this. Obviously stefano gabbana ‘s words cannot be accepted by people. It already occurred for several times ( d&g ad in China several years ago) and Chinese are not angry for the first time . I like Italian culture and Chinese have great passion for Italian food, tradition, design and culture. but obviously stefano does not know how to lead d&g forward in right way. Maybe he should give thanks to Chinese government for blocking ins in China, otherwise it will be worse . Maybe many Italian do not know what happen exactly and why Chinese get angry about this not only for his words and video. I watch all d&g three videos and read many Chinese news and articles. Now I can clearly explain this situation:
    1. Videos: the level and quality obviously should not be the quality of video made by d&g. Chopsticks, not only a kind of instrument used for eating but also Chinese cultural succession (5000years), education and the bridge for social relationships. The form of chopsticks is very meaning if some one know Chinese culture very well. In the videos, the girl use chopsticks to eat incredible big Italian food in really strange way and a man say in strange accent. This action is not chinese educated way and tradition moreover strange. We can understand this situation in another video (you can find them by checking #stefanogabbana in section of tag on Instagram ) made by other guys who learn from d&g . How a guy use fork and knife to eat Chinese food. Then you will understand what and why is Chinese feeling when they see d&g videos. It is only a suggestion.
    2. The chat by Stefano gabbana. He was angry about the ad removed in China. But he should find an emergent solution but not write these gusty words which make all chinese offend. The same to other guys if it occurs in other country. The chat record become the prove and he did not imagine that it would be exposed to public. Maybe video is the beginning and we discuss on a wrong strategy of a brand. But the chat by stefano gabbana is the real fire to explode all the problems. Do you think he is innocent because of hackers?
    3. D&g has full of representative Sicily culture and Italian spirit. But before entering Chinese market or making video, why do they not ask or make some real research on Chinese culture and market? They have partner or office in China. they can try to avoid risking many problems and cultural misunderstandings. I have experiences in following Italian and Chinese fotografico and video team and there is big difference in works of them. I can confirm that they never ask some Chinese partner or employees for comments before being exposed to public. The response and solution of stefano is really worst.
    4. Many Italian and English comments are deleted by stefano‘s team and only remain chinese negative comments or some English comments written by Chinese who live abroad. That is really interesting. I never use dirty or uneducated words in my comment but it was deleted after several seconds and it cannot be found any more. After several minutes, my comment function is limited in his account. These Chinese comments make him look more innocent. Well, this is his emergent solution: find excuse and delete comments. You can try to comment it in his ins account and then it will be very interesting.
However what he has done brought the worst results for d&g in Chinese market. If he does not know how to use Chinese elements in his design or ad, pls get know and respect to the culture of this country first of all. What they are thinking in the reality. Or pls make more research in Chinese market before his decision to get the brand open its market in china . I show my respect to all works of d&g team group but he is not the right person who leads forward the groups. It could be a big opportunity of bringing d&g a huge success for Italian rich culture and making friendship, inviting many famous Chinese actors and actress to expand its impacts in Chinese market. There is a pity that the marketing strategy is really useful for young generation in China but now it become a worst marketing example .

D&G produces very meh dresses for women, ispired by a stereotype of Italian mourning attire of the 40s (you know, when all those people died in a worldwide war Italy contributed to start and fuel). I'm from Southern Italy and I'm fed up of their clichés, their racism and the cultural appropriation of their own culture (when they sell Italian traditions devoid of their meaning and feeling or use them as a background for their ad campaigns, covered in a glamour glaze). As a Chinese myself I am pretty confident to say that 99% of Chinese populations are against eating dogs. Yes, there are people that kill and eat dogs in China, it's unethical, cruel, murderous, whatever you call it. But racists will just ignore that the majority of Chinese, especially the younger generation is working so hard to push animal rights and protection. I have 6 rescued dogs at home back in China, and my family donate every month to sanctuaries. It's just ignorant to throw stereotypes at Chinese. It's not a surprise that D&G did it because it has a history of being racist; Chinese is not the first but I hope we will be the last that got hurt. Thank you and everyone who stand with us because together we should let racists know that they don't simply get way without consequences.

When I was a little girl growing in a very poor family in post Soviet country and when I would hear the name of dolce and gabana (do not care to spell the name right) I would go to this magical place filled with beautiful celebrities with gorgeous dresses, wealth and class and I was kind of telling myself - one day you will be able to buy what you want from them. Fast forward 20 years later, I am a grown woman trying to live my dreams and do what I can do best to support my family and once in a while I still dream about those luxury items just as a cherry on top and to learn that mostly the only luxury brand I remember dreaming about from my childhood is this horrible makes me rethink my whole perspective on fashion. It is not only horrible and untruthful but also so so so dumb. You would think that a person owning millions on their name would be smarter but then you look at all the celebs and boy oh boy. Hope this made some sense.

China is now one of the most important and vital markets for luxury goods. Sales of luxury products may very well exceed the U.S. by now. Without China, many brands would see their profits sink faster than the Titanic. Dolce and Gabbana have several serious issues and this tacky, unsophisticated buffoon isn’t helping. If Dolce and Gabbana is trying to appeal to the provincial racists who support the Trump crime family, they’d better start lowering their prices. They’re well on their way to irrelevance.

I think it’s safe to say D&G’s future in China is over, for at least like one or two years. Chinese government is a very strong government (unlike the western ones) and is capable of making enough noise rapidly. Yes, all D&G products have been pulled away from ALL Chinese online stores (at this moment there is only one left: D&G’s own online store) ,and about all those offline stores... I don’t think they would last long. Like that founder said: we’re doing fine without China. Yes, now it’s the time to check whether he can be really FINE.

All the transportation services have refused to deliver D&G to or from any part of China. All the integral counters of the shopping malls that used to have a D&G section have taken off the merchandise and wait to be returned to Italy. The most hilarious is that even the public cleaning staff of the community all refused to sweep the street outside the D&G retail stores. I always wondered why there was not a bigger outrage in the US about this issue before. As I am from Iran and one of my main subjects at uni was discrimation and massacre of indigenous tribes in 20th century Iran which occurred with a lot of parallels to the killing of Native Americans, I can relate to their pain. My ethnic origins lie also in one of those suppressed groups and I so wished people would wake up and tolerate our wish to learn our language and uphold our traditions etc. And not see that as a hostile attitude towards the country/government.
