i just wanted to tell you that the making/providing of chapters in your video, even before there were chapters available by youtube, is simply brillant mate. you are one clever dude. i never saw anybody on youtube do this before they "officially" made it possible by the "time = xy" code.
Just bought the nanoKontrol2 and I am very pleased to have found your youtube-channel! Thanks mate! This will help me enormous, especially with the use of Spitfire Audio Kontakt libraries!
You cannot imagine how much I'm happy finding your videos. I was asking in several music stores about midi controller just have faders to be assigned to expression, dynamics, vibrato, etc... but the answer was always (Sorry). They were always telling me, you can buy a small midi keyboard controller which in fact I do not need in addition to the fact that 25 keys controllers do not have faders but only knobs.! I was always as well asking if Korg nanokontrol can do the mission by assigning the faders to functions but the answer was always (No), the faders can only be assigned to DAW channels which I do not need. Your video has resolved this to me and I'm now going to order the nanokontrol as it will make huge difference to my process. Thank you so much Kristopher! :)
@@KristopherFAudio Did you build a 4 fader box in the end? Can't find a good compact alternative that hasn't got too much extra stuff and with longer throw faders that isn't super expensive or with just the wrong layout.
You're the man! I've had one of these for months and have been so frustrated with it. I run the same setup - Cubase 10 on PC. Got it working thanks to your vid. Wish I came across this a long time ago!
Kristopher, thank you, thank you! for saving possibly thousands of hours in my life trying to get this set up in Cubase. Much better than looking at the manual(s).
Very helpful but it would have been better/easier to understand if you had zoomed into the setting window/dialogue box so we can see exactly what is happening, instead we have a huge empty track screen and a small window.
Thank you so much for explaining this. It's the only video I've found on YT that explains it well enough for me to actually set up the Nano in Cubase first time.
Thank you for the clear instructions. Have you figured out a way to dim or light up active slider LEDs? I would like to turn on the light only on assigned buttons and sliders.
Could you tell me, how you have configured the Faders (sending #11,#1, etc.) on the Cubase side in the lower table. On my system I get the transport functions to work, but I cannot send CC11 to my VST instruments. In the upper table the faders have been recognized with the correct CC values.
I'm sure that this is really good but I think I'm missing something. My faders are individually connected to each channel. Almost like a mixer. I want ie. Fader 1 to control Modukation, 2 Vibrato etc on any selcted channel. Any ideas?
Is it possible to use the transport functionality in standalone mode with an MPC Live? Means no computer connected, just the controller. Thanks in advance.
Hi, Kris! I'm on Studio One, PC WIN 10. Just tried to setup. All I have is volume on trks. I want it only for VST control, like the Spitfire stuff. I also have an old Tascam us-2400 that works the trks &etc. Wonder if they are conflicting? HAte this crap!
I really appreciate you making and sharing this video but as others have said, it is a shame you didn’t zoom into the area you were working in. I have a visual impairment and the main action is just a miniature blur. I’m still grateful and hoping to use it tomorrow as I’ve already wasted an hour trying to get it to work and it’s getting late. Thanks.
So essentially you can only program one bank of CCs at a time for one sample library such as your spitfire library in your case? What if another library uses a different set of CCs?
Thanks so much for this awesome video I was finally able to set up my nano studio with Cubase. My only concern is that I haven't been able to find the function of select one specific track on the device mapping settings...
Hi. Great tutorial, thank you. I have problem when i do this in Cubase 11. I have to hold the record button until i finish. If i press and release, it doesnt record :/
The record function only works while I'm pressing the record button on the nano kontrol. As soon as I let go off the button, it stops recording. Anyone knows how to fix this? Thankx guys
When recording the strings midi track in Cubase with this thing, for recording the automation of the modulation fader, is it enough to press the red “write” button on the track, or you have to go scientific? I’m planning to buy a convenient controller.
Thank you Kristopher! Just bought a NanoKontrol and your video is very helpful! The only thing now is when I push record it only remain on record as long I hold down the record button. Any idea what I do wrong?
i got afree NanoKontrol2 and Nanopad2 from a friend and these items just sat idle for 2-3 years..now? ive decided to use but needed to map them out properly to use when away from Home Lab lol thanks for this
Maybe a stupid question from a beginner, but where do I find, that which CC means what? How do you know, that the CC14 is vibrato, CC11 expression and so on. Is there some list of these numbers in Cubase? Because yesterday I set it up correctly thanks to your video, but it seems that my Cubase has Alzheimers and it doesnt work today anymore. :D
I know for Spitfire libraries they are usually included in the owner's manual. In the case of BBCSO, they have a video guide for the controllers. Hope that helps a little.
Thank you for the clarification! Would you have to remap the controller each time you open a new session? Or does it automatically recognized the previous settings if save along as a template?
with some vst's the setup is messed, because the same knob which I linked with vst-knob, turns also some other knobs of the vst! (cannot see those links in controller setup), no idea why it's like that, but didn't find a solution to fix this. I am using cubase.
It must be getting presented from a 4k monitor. Once the windows for the device came up, I could see what the complaints were regarding the screen size. Fortunately I have a 4k monitor and going full screen made it viewable. Not everyone is using that high resolution, so would be helpful for the presenter to reduce to maybe 1080 for future videos.
This is a nightmare! Thanks for your video, but I still can't setup the nanokontrol! I'm using Logic Pro X, I saw that there are a special drivers for that... anyway, I saw already 4 videos and, nothing...
Check this video out instead. No drivers needed, but you need to set it up and also uncheck some things in Logic: ua-cam.com/video/ABj9iCwHC_E/v-deo.html
please reshoot video as all movemoments and selections in this video are in a window that is about 5% of the screen display. and xooming doesnt seem to work otherwise it seems to be good information. but it implies use of a scene per virtual instrument and there arent that many scenes.
Please adjust your resolution for these types of screen recordings. I couldn't see anything

Right on. I'm sure that's miles ahead of the Nano. Would love to have something like that. Looking forward to seeing a vid about it!
I love Korg, but their hardware connecting to computers are such a pain in the balls.
Thanks for this post. I'm picking up my Nano2 this week. I'm sure you've saved me a whole lot of headaches.

I so needed this tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Thanks a lot, Kristofer!

Really helpful , now I can use nano Kontrol2 in my basic mixing workflow, Thank You so~ much !
CC data for the win!

AT 3:00 I am not able to connect the KorgNano 2 to my PC this is not showing as connected. I have tried this and other tutorials. Any suggestions?
Same issue - driver 115_r56e on windows 11
can you mapp this strictly on kontakt for live perfomance instead of using a daw which l think thats better on recordjing
This is really helpful. Thank lots !!
Great info, thanks! (Wish I could actually SEE what you are doing, haha, but I got the gist of it.)

Very helpful and informative video. Constructive comment: I couldn't see any screen detail due to the resolution employed
Everytime I open cubase it resets the NanoKontrol to the default CC (faders are numbered 0 to 7). What should I do to prevent that?
Fantastic - thanks so much for this help.

To all this, have you created the template for cubase 10?

is there a way to make the nanokontrol have 16 faders? like changing set1 to 2?
Can the Korg also be used to change the speed of an actual played Midi file independendly of the Midi program?
saved me
