I can attest that it is strong. I got exasperated after trying to get it to work on other DAWs (did ALL the steps, dowloaded the drivers and soecial softwares, watched all the videos, talked directly with the head of Korg tech in my country) and smashed it a couple of times on my hard-ass desk. It still works. But again, only as a transport, and only on Pro Tools.
It used to work until I upgraded to Mojave on Mac. I had 2 months of miserable times trying to find out what was wrong. I had to uninstall this plugin completely because it was a problem on my Logic Pro X DAW. I don't have any use for it anymore.
I really wish something this side or something compact had motorized faders. If u do know of any please recommend because i really want to buy my first control surface.
Yes the usb cable is in the box separately packed from the device itself so of you haven’t received a cable then you might have been mistaken and you did dumped with the box in the trash can…
Yes it can be a great little controller to combine with a keyboard. It’s gives you lots of knobs and sliders that you can use to change settings on effects and synth settings. Thank you for continuing to watch. Keep creating! 👊👍
I just bought a nano kontrol 2a couple of months ago.The free software was one of the reasons i bought it. Most of it is easy to download and install except UVI synstations 4 synths . This was the worst install i ever had to deal with . The company has the worst customer service of any plug in i have ever dealt with . I literally took a month to get the 4 synths install and i figured it out myself . There is a communication problem i believe they are French and they have a poor grasp of the English language. I was beyond frustrated . My thinking is if its that hard to install a free plugin , why would i want to buy one from them. Extremely bad business model.
This no longer works with GarageBand which is not mentioned in there advertising. I found out when attempting to download the required software. A company very hard to contact and I received no answer to my questions
Yes these are a bare to get the software to cooperate. You need to have any daw or app plugged in or it won’t find it. Thats the only trick to it. I’ve got all three plus Behringer touch, but I still use it for demo sound andmidi learn when I have all 4 running . Folks pay the money FSStudio , Ableton , and Komplete, I know it’s a lot of money but if your serious about making music, all of this can be financed on a starving musicians account! Trust me I know! I totally believe everyone should have both iPad daw and a maxed out daw. Mine is a mini computer with 11;pro I9/64 gb of ram it’s worth it!
I’ve been strongly considering one of these. I have the PreSonus Faderport-1, that I use with Studio One 5, but it’s not integrating well with my other DAW “MixCraft 9 Pro”. It would fit perfectly on the panel of my M-Audio Hammer 88. You should get your hands on an Elgato Stream Deck to review. Very interesting controllers.
Before i buy it, a simple question. In my DAW (Reaper) i have put in 5 TRACKS VST Instruments BUT ALL in MIDI Chanel 1. Can I Control every track's volume separete or is conflic MIDI Chanel 1 in ALL tracks problem ? Thanks.
Did you ever make that video on how to use NanoKontrol2 with Waveform? If not, could you please make one. :-) You are the reason why I work in Waveform, and I guess that goes for a lot of us in here. Thanks for the great content and knowledge you share.
Totally forgot to make that video. But I released it today after your question reminded me. Here is the link ua-cam.com/video/0dla-8urbLY/v-deo.html hope it helps. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
@@AudioTechTV Thanks a lot! I see that motorized faders is a big plus if you have started mixing and want to keep things as they are. This one is perhaps better for production than mixing and mastering?
@@EirikHasselberg motorized faders are a big plus but not absolutely necessary. If you’re adjusting the level of something it means you didn’t have it right anyway and it’s pretty easy to get it back in the area you were in. So you could use it for production and mixing. I like being able to adjust multiple faders at the same time.
Thanks for the interesting review! About the USB cable, you mention that some people who reviewed it said it didn't come with one cable but that yours had one included. I bought one yesterday and mine didn't have an included cable!
@@AudioTechTV Maybe but it's a bit strange. I bought a few other MIDI controllers and I am pretty sure they always had a cable. But usually a short one though as the one you got!
Hi, thank you for sharing this review. I'm looking into buying one of these and I have a question. I have seen that the faders/knob will work in groups of 8 tracks (1-8, 9-16, 17-24 and so on). So let's say I have set the volume/pan for the first 8 tracks (1-8) (therefore the faders/knob will not be centralized) and I'll move to the next 8 tracks (9-16). Suppose also that tracks 9-16 already have volume/pan already set on DAW and that I just want to slight adjust them. To be more precise, let's say that pan 1 will be at at 8 o'clock in the nanokontrol and the pan at track 9 in the DAW is at 1 o'clock. The moment I try to adjust the pan in this track, it will bring the pan from 1 to 8 o'clock (therefore messing my previous setting on the DAW)? Is that what you meant when you said that faders aren't automated? If so it seems a major issue if ypu work with multiple tracks. Sorry for the long question.
As soon as you adjust the knob the fader or pan control will go to whatever position the midi controller is at. I just look to see what it’s set at before I adjust the controller.
no. If you close a project and re-open it the faders in your daw will be exactly the same as when you saved it no matter what you've done with the Korg NanoKontrol. It only changes thigns when you touch the fader on the nanokontrol.
@@AudioTechTV Hi Zane, I got 2 of these and wanted to ask to if there are banks to switch between. Haha. I never got this. I will check the config software, and how many I need. But the Superior Drummer 3 mixer is quite large. 🙂
Very inspiring video! However, there's one major drawback of Korg Nano Kontrol 2 with Ableton as you mentioned. May be someone knows how to overcome it? May be some external scripts? KNK2 faders don't work in the pickup mode and using them causes signifficant volume jumps when switching tracks. It's very sad and annoying. That bug makes it quite useless for mixing imho. I'm just a beginner and may be as an expreienced user you know how to deal with it. I use Ableton 10
That's what I had in mind when he said that the faders aren't automated. Oh man... I'm looking for an affordable midi controller for mixing a live concert on a stream... Having jumps in audio whenever I move across 8 channels will be a major major problem

This thing ony works with Pro Tools.
Garbage for Logic, FL.
Also, it's supposed to be assignable for knobs but it only works as a transport.

from what i read, there is a cable included but it is kind of hidden in the box
Check the other end of the box. Mine was there. Seperate compartment.
How did you get it working in Waveform? I found a thread that said to set it to SONAR mode, which is okay except for the Skip Back and Record buttons.
does it work for bandlab? i am considering.

It will drop to zero, so you have to watch where you started at.
Does this work with PreSonus Studio One 5?
Is it work with Adobe Audition ?
I'd love it if you could use this for a guitar vst. I love turning knobs what I miss from analog gear
You totally could. Look up controlling VST's with MIDI in your DAW.

A small question. Do you have an idea how to use the Nanokontrol 2 with Spotify to use the play/pause button to play and pause a song?
I don’t know how to do that. I’m not sure Spotify accepts midi signals. Maybe someone has created a program that would convert midi to media keys.
Does it work with reaper?
Yes it will work with Reaper.
So if I close the project and come back to it later, I have to keep the korg faders in the same position or else it will mess up the project faders?
no. If you close a project and re-open it the faders in your daw will be exactly the same as when you saved it no matter what you've done with the Korg NanoKontrol. It only changes thigns when you touch the fader on the nanokontrol.
@@AudioTechTV I see, thanks

can the knob be turned infinity?
No the knobs can’t be
Can you use this with mor than 8 tracks? Like have it control 1-8 then change it to control 9-16?
Yes there are buttons on there that you can use to switch to the next set of 8 tracks or the previous set of 8.

does this have finite knobs or infinite encoders? thanks
Just knobs.. you can tell because they have a marker on them... encoders don't have that they're just blank.
Would this work with the arctis pro wireless ? As it has a donglr already too.
I wouldn't recommend using a gaming headset for making music, but in theory yes you could do that
does it work with fl studio?
Pls help: I cant get it to work as "Macki Control" there is no function at all..
What program are you using it in? Have you set it up as a control surface in that program?
