Love the new van. For me it’s about getting out to the locations, not any macho bs about being wet, or cold , and suffering. I get bushcraft but I’m in my 70’s now and camping in comfort is important to me. Staying warm, dry, and hydrated, along with enjoyable food in incredible settings is where it’s at.

It’s the same Weka. Abe keeps him in a box of its own to all of his camps. It’s the Weka that does the dish cleaning, not the method Abe would have us believe.
Thanks for the man with the van camp Abel. Some may prefer tent camping however I enjoy all of the adventures you share with us. From tent to shelter to van, each has its own attraction. I'm looking forward to watching you fitting out your new van and it will be great when you are able to take some more comforts of home out on the road to those isolated spots. You will need to get yourself some wheel chains if you are going to take it into the snow next Winter me thinks. Pity about the tarp tearing Abel. With a roof rack and a new, bigger tarp, you may not even have to invest in an awning.

Great camping out in the rain ... Also yummie food ! 👍👍 A lot of room inside the van , plenty to have a comfortable sleep ! Do you lock all doors during the night , with regards to any unwanted visitors ?
Yep , love to see a trip in the snow ( snow storm ) in this van mate ! It'll be really cosy in there . Just bring a good book ? Or watch a film , lying in your sleeping bag ... enjoying a stubby or 2 .

I love your new van.It looks like the right size for day camps.I side awning would finish it off or a 270 awning so you have cover on the side and rear 👍If its covered on the rear then you could have a slide out kitchen inside your bed.Just a thought 👍

For the van it would be to get some under body protection if it does not already have it, nothing crazy just to stop the bumps and rocks as even easy tracks can have surprises. Also some type of ventilation or window covers so you can get some fresh airflow as I car camp and it can get hot so I leave my window down a touch (bugs not so much an issue). You can do a seat inside and have it as a storage bin so space is used efficiently. Great stuff mate excited for you and the family

Never had a single major mechanical issue with my Hiace or Delica. The dealer/manufacturer warranties are pretty legit here in Japan. Now don't get me wrong, it make take some time, but they'll fix it eventually hahaha. That's more due to parts and doing it by the book. Plus you have JCI and they're pretty good with that inspection and makng sure your car is roadworthy. Here, you're considered a professional driver and so vehicle maintenance is emphasized. Only thing to keep an eye out for is flood parts. After the Great Kanto Earthquake and tsunami, 100,000s of cars were damaged and shady dealers pulled parts from them for resale to foreign markets. I'd inspect any part you may have to import. The Hiace is a workhorse around here though so you should be pleased.
Congratulations Abel! Love the new van, it has tons of potential. Consider some sort of rumble seat for your little daughter for when she’s old enough to do a family camp. I have friends in America who fixed up a van like a camper. They travel all over the country in retired life. You will enjoy this!

Nice van. You might want to have a fan installed in the roof. That would definitely help with keeping it cool and with cooking.
Great to see you've discovered the fun of camper vans! We have a VW California...12 years from new now...and absolutely LOVE it! You can park in a city and pull the blinds and you're in your own little home, with heating, sink fridge and two hob stove. Or you can do as you do and go wild camping....has 3 batteries for all the gear to work. Yours looks much better for off track and dirt though and its lovely and small. Perfect! Yourselves and AB Camping have two great vans there!!!
Yeah got to figure out how I want to kit it out as a camper. I do like to small size I drove a ford transit it was cool but to big for me
@@AbelandVictoria I'd leave it minimal as it's a smaller van but you looked perfectly comfy with your small table in there. A fridge and a good awning and rear tarp and you'd be set! Transit is indeed a bigger van. The VW T5's an T6's are slimmer and perfect, but only in 4WD using a system that is very heavy. VW T3 Sychros are like your van...small and great off-load!

Hey Able love the Van .there is so much potential for camping for sure .I am excited for you I would love to have that opportunity big time .I was a little surprised that there wasnt as many on the clock for the age ,I thought there be more ,an 4wheel drive, you can fix how low the Van is no problem, you have done well ,when you had your say about neg people saying it's not camping etc, you said it was a Van test I had to put the captions on BC I thought you said Its a Vangilantie 🤣🤣🤣🤣anywho great camp. I did yell out to you no to put the back down but ,you being in NZ and Me in Aus you didn't hear me 🤔😂I Can't wait to see more with this project ,I am very Interested. How hot is it during the daytime/nighttime Celsius around this time of the year? Here in norway we have -15C with 17M/S wind and it just makes the camp so hard lol
Currently temps are 25/30 highs and lows about 10. It’s about hot for me give me -15 any day
