Wellesbourne is my home airfield, and taking off 18 means you pass over a ridge line at the edge of the airfield so that might explain some of the departure buffet. I have been on finals for 36 and the wind coming down the runway was so fierce when it hit the ridge that it required significant forward yoke (C172N) to maintain the slope. Did a Go-Around and luckily it was a bit calmer the second time.

Another good one Ben. I was always told that being sent to Coventry meant that no-one would talk to you! Agree that it seemed strange to ask what was your preferred service only to be told that it would only be a Basic Service!
