I feel like leaving in some cheese in a more traditional level leaves room for a player to explore or feel like they accomplished something, yes you should make it so they can’t skip the whole level but leaving in some small skips or work arounds leave room for different play throughs or speed runs. Just check your levels so there is still gameplay. At least that’s my view on more traditional levels.

The only purposes for low walls that I know of are intentionally hidden shortcuts, Trolls, and decorative purposes. Other wall types are again used for all of the previously mentioned. Although simple, this video overall teaches some pretty good basics for anti cheese! Nice Job!

Really great video, removing Cheese can be a really important part of your level since you give your players the experience you want them to have, but removing cheese is opitional and you shouldn't remove all of the cheese, something that makes players skip the whole level would, indeed, break your level and not give the players the right experience, but cheese allows players to play in their own way, that the creator didn't make, if it doesn't break a important part of the experience you could and probably should remove it, but, Cheese can allow players to take easier routes that you didn't expect, being something new and a path that they are taking by themselves, and not only that, but it also helps speedrunners and people who want to finish the level fast or have to, to do so faster. Not removing all cheese from your level can allow you to make a more unique experience to each player, because they make their own path by finding something that helps they pass the level easier, with that said, not all cheese should be kept, only the minor part that doesn't really affect the experience that you want to give to your players, however, a cheese that allows them to skip the whole level should indeed be removed.
In the case of forest water cheese, change the theme to the night time forest theme, that way the water is still present but can’t be used to cheese the level since at night the water changes to poison which is an instant kill.
You do kind of have a point there. But I actually quite like the apathetic of the night forest in the New Super Mario Bros U style. And the music issue can be loved by putting a soundtrack that overrides the theme’s background music. I actually did something like this in one of my levels. In the one where the main idea is the rising and falling tide of poison. I put the “Super Mario Sunshine” sound effect on Mario in order to block out the music box remix of the forest night theme. I will add that this type of cheese prevention likely wouldn’t work if you put dry bones shells that Mario can equip in your level, and the forest night themes does look ugly in the other styles. So there is that.

Using a chromebook touchpad, and refraining from pausing or rewinding, I was able to keep my mouse on Mario for a maximum of 9 consecutive seconds. Challenge level: 3/10. So if you go into the 10-coin room, the p-switch timer gets restarted, and you can escape.
A really good fix for if you don’t want somebody with a shell met / shell is after u could possibly have it on your head or in your hand make a door and put fish on tracks on both sides and the shell will get busted
I got something for pow block: Get a thwomp to hit a On/off block, then it will drop a bullet bill thingy. Be careful unless you want them to have 1 chance without a redo door.
Honestly? Cheese in a level is typically bad, but sometimes fixing cheese either requires some super complicated solution or just straight up isn't possible I think that, if in a level, your cheese is harder than the intended strat, It could be fine to leave it in. Hell, even throw in a secret in there for the memes if you can! A really good fix for if you don’t want somebody with a shell met / shell is after u could possibly have it on your head or in your hand make a door and put fish on tracks on both sides and the shell will get busted

I literally just realized that you can start playing a course from the beginning in edit mode by holding the minus button!

Honestly? Cheese in a level is typically bad, but sometimes fixing cheese either requires some super complicated solution or just straight up isn't possible
I think that, if in a level, your cheese is harder than the intended strat, It could be fine to leave it in. Hell, even throw in a secret in there for the memes if you can!
Just make it feel intentional, and make it harder than the original route, but could also make it faster for speedrunners to try and master

Yes we need part 2 of this video - someone beat my level in 1 minute and 13 seconds however it takes at least 2 and a half minutes to get to the end so it seems like i've missed something more advanced
