- I dropped my Raptor 700 off with Jay Jahns of Illinois Powersports for some much needed TLC. After some investigation he quickly discovered that the crank bearings had failed. Although this was unfortunate, I was immediately excited for the opportunity to build up the powerplant! I told him I wanted a more powerful, yet very reliable set up for the very diverse types of riding I tend to do. I also wanted him to build it like it was his, so no expense was spared when doing things the right way! I'm beyond satisfied with his build and it's new performance totally blew my mind at Little Sahara. If you need engine work don't hesitate to call Jay at Illinois Powersports!

I'm at 50HP and 40 ft-lbs of tq on my 660 build..with a nice smooth flat powerband and max torque down super low carrying it all the way to redline.
Makes such a big difference having a properly tuned build.
That thing is a BEAST!!! Congrats on getting it back. Can't wait to see it in action. Hopefully I'll get to see both machines in person next season

That's pretty cool ... I was born in Sycamore, IL and grew up at that speedway when it was Bob Jo's Speedway and I even lived in one of those houses right by the track when I was young (in the 80's).
A lot of Raptor guys call removing the judder springs from the clutch the "full fiber mod." (I just did it to the top quad 😁) That guys got a really nice facility and its awesome that he explained everything he did and why. LS footage looks like its going to be epic af!!! Good job Pete!🤘🤘🤘
Yes, full fiber mod plus extra plate is what he has as well as slightly stiffer springs. That clutch will hook up 75hp all day long and it is a drop in kit. After 80hp we recommended a lock up clutch.

I have a 2019 se blue edition and jay did FCI intake with box, empire exhaust and pc5, I put down 55whp on pump gas, I recommend him all day

I have my fourwheeler at Jay's. (Predator 500). Been there for a few months no hurry being winter and all. But the closer it gets to being nicer out I had to watch all your videos up there. I'm getting very very giddy about picking it up. Or even the phone call on what we're/he gonna do to it!

Yeeaaaa I seem to have run into some issues with my 400ex rebuild. Something went wrong and I do believe I introduced valves to piston yesterday while ripping it. Do back apart it comes. That facility they have working on yours is freaking awesome

Full fiber clutch mod yes but also our drop in 9 plate kit with a better spring package.

I have the big 3 with full Yoshimura exhaust, FCI intake and tuner. I replaced my radiator fan with a sealed fan because the first one went bad. I am having overheating problems and cant tell if its because of mud on the radiator or the tune needs work. I live in Illinois so I may have to find these guys.

Very nice upgrade that is some useable power, keeping that compression low is holding back a lot of pony’s once you go with a bigger piston and some better fuel easy in mid 60’sHP raptors make lots of power easy but I’ll make them work hard before it can try and get out in front of me. but overall good upgrade!! 👍🏽 sounds like I hear some long travel coming in soon!!! Always enjoy watching your videos.
Yes, his build with bigger piston, better fuel and bored throttle body would be next step. That package makes about 72 to 74hp on the ones we have built.
Yeah they make the power easy, wish they were all like that to be in 70hp range. But I’m still out here running them down as much is I can on a SB/SS. One day I might give in to a XC motor and build that.

We didn't want to commit to it with how remote some of my rides can be. I will be running race gas when I can though! 👍
@@PeteHager If you go to high of a octane without high compression and advancing the timing you'll lose some power ,
I would tend to agree depending on type of race fuel used. We recommended the vp113 for him if he runs race gas. It will make more power than pump for sure without having to refine anything. It mimics the same air/ fuel curve and is very consistent with a decent shelf life.
This thing is going to as set the trails on fire.

Great video on the build! Really wanted to line up with it out in Oklahoma. It does make me excited to do the 734 motor on mine! I am really curious on the internal wear on my motor.
I know it has to be hard to tear down a working engine but your a great rider and would love the extra performance! Especially paired with your new suspension! 👍

Thanks man! I think Sabo did a great job capturing their dyno session. At least he explained that the dyno tends to read low. I try not to focus on the final end number since there’s a lot of variables. I’m stoked to have Jay do the big 3 to the YFZ because we’ll get bone stock data to compare with the mods! 👍

All Right Pete, I HAVE to know YOUR Comparison of the YFZ to the Raptor. I know the obvious differences like weight and stability but I'd like to hear your Subtle differences !
And as a Subscriber I really wish you would WIDEN your Raptor like mine to make it a closer comparison when stacking up to the YFZ.
And if somehow you could WEIGH the 2 bikes. Because when you take the Exhaust, steel handlebars and other various items off the Raptor as most folks do, I'd be Very Curious as to what the Actual weight difference is.

So I'm assuming you have both the quads yet? When you gonna get a Vortex & exhaust and get the yfz450r dyno tuned?
The YFZ is still stock aside from the stabilizer. We’ll be installing the big 3 when the parts are available. Hopefully before the snow flies 🤞

Hi pete. I have a 2014 ltz 400 that has basic bolt ons. Pcv, full yosh exhaust, and powerlid. Had it dyno tuned but has a hesitation from low rpm to WOT. Idk what else I need to get worked out. Seems a timing issue but idrk and neither did the guy that specializes in tuning banshees
Sometimes those ltz 400s are very finicky to tune for some reason, or you have a faulty power commander. We have seen both.
