Yes, "Guiding Light " was a splendid soap opera indeed. There were a lot of other great soap opera performances on "Guiding Light," at CBS Daytime Dramas, and within the Daytime Drama genre in general outside of this performance by Watros. I do believe that this was a very good reel, but there were a lot of other great performances on Daytime Drama television. GL has always had its great years and some inconsistencies throughout the years, but this was a peak period at GL. If Beverlee McKinsey were on this soap during this time, with a mix of a little more of what I feel would be GL's core families (The Bauer, Reardon, Spaulding, Lewis, Shayne, Grant, and Cooper families) "Guiding Light" would have been in perfect, tip-top shape. Kim Zimmer just looks so pretty here! You almost forget how great these productions really were and how talented the actors were. #guidinglight
I was so conflicted. As much as I love her, I have to at least call a tie with her and Eileen Davidson that year! Both equally exceptional and addicting stories....I watched both daily!
Indeed they both gave incredible performances but Cynthia’s performance during the trial and she collapses at the end after being convicted of perjury was a masterclass in acting. I knew she’d win that Emmy
I love her! Great actress, miss guiding light!
I was a little kid watching this storyline at my grandmother's house and I was HOOKED. She was so good!
And THAT'S how you win an Emmy!
She was incredible. What an actress!
What a great person and actress. Love her on general hospital now.
This Emmy was well deserved She is a wonderful actress n the writers did a great job with her character !
Maurice Bernard stated everyone in the soap community considers this to be the best soap reel ever produced.

She is a great actress. I was surprised not to see the scene of her final testimony at the trial. For me, that was her most heartfelt performance.
In her speech she says how her family taped all her shows. It would be great if someone would put them all on youtube for us.
Such a great actress. I bet her head actually DID hurt when she went home from the studio.
I love Cindy waltros.
What were the air dates for these two clips?
10/6/97 & 1/26/98
She really is great. i hated when she left GL
