One thing to note, this set is not to scale with the Medieval blacksmith. It looks rather hilarious when placed together, unless you re-imagine the blacksmith to be the Kings quarters... and ignore the towers being dwarfed by a house.
This is really the Lego castle I would have wanted as a kid. I've now more turned to Star Wars, but this just might fit into my budget (or I will make it fit).
If you can afford Star Wars this set is defo a good option I collect Star Wars but I love old castles and old history so I would want this just to change up from constantly getting Star Wars sets
I know, I feel sad for having to wait until adulthood to be able to afford such things. It's a wonderful little castle, so I got mine as soon as they were available. No regrets, obviously.
What a great looking set, I really hope Lego continues to make sets like this in the future themed around castle, pirates and possibly even classic space. Great review as alwas, Jang!
Yeah! I agree. Great fits for both Castle and Pirates! Only thing that feels lacking is the minifig assortment. If they added a high-ranking soldier, another civilist, and perhaps a horse that would've done the trick!
This is very close to old, 90s sets in more ways than one! - The back is enclosed. Yes! - There are more than one builds suggested, and better than in the old days, they give you instructions for other ones. Yes!!! - There's a... Reasonable number of figures included. - It's not locked in to a particular theme, story or license. - There's a vast amount of play area. - There are brick-built creatures! - There are side builds. Can't believe we've come to this. - It folds out! And in what it's different, there are pretty much only good things... - It's intercompatible with itself and many other sets. - It's a good value!
Yes, I would much prefer it to the green dragon. Anyway, though I am not into medieval castles and stuff I have this set as it looks very nice in reality!
Very cool set. Mildly disappointed there isn't a random trapdoor with a set of falling axes or rocks like the classic "big building" theme-topping sets of old though! 😂
Also, technically medieval castles (At least ones that belonged to more wealthy lords) were colorfull. It's just that over many, many years the paint got washed off. Because let's be honest... People always liked colorfull things.
I'm thinking of buying this for my Christmas village. It's contemporary, but it could work as a European city with it's old town castle at the side or centre.
This is the first set i bought for about 8-9 years! I was ashamed and i felt much of pressure from other people that LEGO is for kids only. Finally i said SCREW YOU all and i bought one for myself on my birthday. I am not disappointed. Building this thing was amazing. Lego quality really changed over the years. The only thing i am mixed is the Figures. When i like two guards - the blacksmith is a bit meh. There should be 5-6 figures. Also i agree about the details in the towers BUT this is LEGO! They just give You space to add something own :)
If you stick the chalice at the top of the tower, you can pretend that it’s a Grail Shaped Beacon. Also, keeping with LEGO’s propensity towards somewhat dark humor in castle sets, there’s actually a treasure chest with some body parts hidden under the staircase in the windmill build, for those wondering where the skeleton was in that alternate model.
While I will bot be getting this set, I am quite impressed by it. The alternate builds fit the theme of the main structure exceptionally well, and the customizability of the layout is great. I do think that for a set of this scale though, especially since this is a castle, there should be more figures, especially some suggestion of royalty.
I'm glad you reviewed this set. I'm leaning toward buying it. It brings me back to my childhood when I had the Black Monarch's Castle (6085). I'm a little embarassed to say that I want to build this and play with it!
Great review, Jang. A few things vs that I really appreciate about the set: • Love the mouse holes that are consistent through the 3 builds for the small brick built mouse from the main build. • The dragon/wyvern evokes the old green dragon from the 90s in color/scale. • Nods to the old sets with things like the rock entrance to the Forestmen hideout, the trebuchet being referred to as a catapult, the armor shop, the yellow colors being reminiscent of the Black Falcon castles of old and more. One thing I love about what this does, and the Creator line in general does, is encouraging modification and customization. I am biased though as I love classic castle and this set hits me in the nostalgia bones hard.
Even better I built the 66 Batmobile last week. And on the last page of the instructions they had a random picture of a hotdog tree. Now I want Lego to release a hotdog tree set.
Wow, this set looks amazing! I really like that wyvern build, it's got such a charm to it. My only gripe is how few minifigs there are. It could really do with at least two more, maybe a lord and a bandit or something.
Jang bought three of these? The mad lad. I bought just the one and really looking forward to putting together the main build since it looks so good. I might get a second set for the tower, trebuchet and extra pieces but we'll see.
Hey Jang, appreciate the video! Please keep making videos the way you are doing it right now. I'm sure pretty much everyone prefers the longer reviews to appreciate all the smaller details. That vocal minority complaining about videos being too long should go to a channel that rushes their reviews for the unpatient. Keep doing what you're doing!
I wonder if the damaged tall wizard's tower is an homage to Disney's Sword in the Stone. In the movie, Merlin moved into the old damaged tower that was falling apart. He even had a telescope too.
Yeah, I definitely agree it's a river on the side for the watermill, love how you point out that wyvern is actually a type of dragon! It's pretty cool that LEGO included machicolations on the battlements. I bought 2 sets to make a more wholesome castle while keeping the LEGO design language.
Mrs Prune is a big lego castle fan and loves your review. Could you invest an hour or two in a live stream showing us how you're using the spare pieces from the second and third builds?
Thanks Jang for bringing all three builds to the table and showing what the possibilities are with connecting all three build together. I'd certainly would use the left overs to dress up the main castle more. Thanks for the review.
Now I would definitely prefer to have the fully molded pieces for the animals but I can just appreciate how they can find creative ways to build little animals like the chickens and the mouse and then use for parts for other things in the other builds
My issues with this set basically boils down to aspects from it being a creator line set. Brick built rather than molded animals, bright yellow walls, low minifigure count, peasant is a sailor (we seriously lack medieval torso prints that aren't sailors/knights-uniforms), a low count of pieces that are usefull for medieval moc building outside of normal bricks and a handfull of armor/food pieces. I might pick it up on discount.
Of all of the new sets that popped up this summer, this was by far my favorite. It scratched my nostalgia itch for castles and was a satisfying build in its own right. It offers what I consider the classic Lego building experience of just stacking bricks on top of bricks, with minimal advanced building techniques.
This set makes me happy Jang - and I'm glad it made you happy too ! - I've not even bought it yet but I'm so happy that LEGO decided to go ahead an make something 'classic castle' looking. Cheers Greg
It's beautiful, I love this set. Would've left out the dragon though and include a king, a queen, two more guards and maybe 3 attackers for some more play value. Because there are very, very little knight LEGO sets in the market right now.
I look forward to getting 3 sets to make the base and alternative builds. The remaining pieces can be used to add more details and customization. Adding some collectable minifigs (wizard + royalty), the minifigs from the ideas blacksmith shop, with the 3 sets of minifigs would staff the castle pretty well.
I wish LEGO can bring back "Castle/Kingdom" again, but instead of being a lot of knights vs something. I would like to see a Lego Medieval Town. Sets examples: 1. Castle, 2. Blacksmith, 3. Tavern/Inn, 4. Tailor Shop, 5. Town Center with Street Markers, tree and well, Stables. 6. Fishing Docks with a big and small Boat. 7. Windmill with Crops. villagers. 8. Farming Barn Animals. villagers. 9. A Bank or TAX collector with a Robin hood. 10. Bandit camp. 11. Cottage Home. $50-60 (I bet alot of people would by to make a big village or town.) 12. Small bridge with a watch tower. 13. A Dragon Cave with treasure and Skelton. 14. Wizard Tower or Shop. 15. Barber shop. 16. A adventure Guild.
The 3 combined look pretty awesome. Im new to your channel about 3 weeks so far and your my goto reviewer when buying sets for my boys. I was huge into legos in the 80s and early 90s as a kid. Thank you for your reviews, your demeanor and pacing make it really enjoyable to watch.
3 роки тому+1
The rebrickable page will be soooo cool i'm sure ! This is for me the pure lego experience, do what you want and share, adults and kids
This set combined would easily hold a 300 price tag. The fact you can buy 3 sets over time to complete this is fantastic and you get tons of extra pieces to mod it on your own. I wish Lego would do more like these.
I feel like this is a very nice castle design that focuses on what's needed vs what's not. What I mean by that is you do not have a lot of interior decorations but it does give you the size and depth for the price and let's you fill ij the details as you see fit rather than having the structure be shallow but many decortations and interior decor.
This is certainly a cool set for those who would love to have Lego Castle build, it's not perfect, but it is a great start, and all 3 builds together go very well together (if you're willing to pay for 3 sets in all!) Cool review, Jang!
Thanks for going the extra mile and putting all three together, you're a legend Jang! I bought one of these when it came out, then a second one after seeing someone combine them into a beefier castle... haven't built either yet (got sidetracked by Harry Potter lego) but now I think I might need a third one... gulp... maybe I'll wait for a quiet month...
Seems this is the closest we're going to get to a proper Castle line any time soon, and it'll look great next to the blacksmith set. Will definitely buy this one.
I bought 2. Did the main build, did the tower build and took the left over pieces and made a smaller, modiffied windmill build, it worked pretty ok, there were still left over pieces, but all together things came out well. Happy building!
As a kid the castle sets were always one of my favorites, especially the minifigures. I’d kill for an all castle/knight/medieval themed Collectible Minifigure Series.
Based on this review, I'll be thinking this one over for a year or two before deciding if it gets a piece of the Lego budget, just like I am dong with the Creator 3-in-1 Pirate Ship (set 31109) after watching that review last year. Thanks for the taking the time and the expanse to do all three three builds, on live streams no less, and for such a thorough review.
Wait, when you showed the build at 26:17, was that made just by literally linking three sets together with no clever moc designing on your part? I'm impressed with how that looks as someone who can't seem to design anything that amazing!
This is an awesome set the only thing I would add is a few extra mini figures like maybe a lord for the throne room and a pair of extra knights and maybe a horse
This set is so much better than I expected it to be. The images do not show it justice. The interlock thing is brilliant, love what you did with the multiple builds and it has so much potential for mocks for a castle sets (that lego is not giving an official theme for some reason). I will probably try to grab 3x (hopefully at blackfriday discount) and try different builds and custom ones as well. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for doing the review with the added option builds all together. Looks cool. I appreciate your opinion as well. Great review. May very well but multiples for the kids to have a big castle!
I want to bricklink the trebuchet to go with the main build. It would have been nice if they had incorporated the same ratchet and lever function as the draw bridge though.
I remember my first lego set i got it was a medival build with a tower and a wagon with a prison and this brings back memories like when i tossed the wagon with the horse down the stairs on accident I was 6 okey
@ JANG's LEGO Reviews There is a new Summer 2021 Creator 3in1 set. The set is called Crocodile. The 3 official models of the set are the Crocodile, the Frog, and the Snake. The Crocodile also has a Bird and a fish skeleton. The Snake has a Mouse. And the Frog has a Fly to eat.
Great vid, thanks for showing the combination of the three!😁 I think a great vid idea would be to use the leftover pieces to add on to the build. I know many of your custom builds fans would love to see this as it's a bit of a challenge. Using only thr pieces from the set to keep in the style of it but still expand and improve
I was a bit disappointed by the first images released, but having now seen your review I find this set to be really excellent. For once the three builds are quite appealing, with a lot of details. I love the use of upside down rock jewels parts to suggest potions! Thank you for getting through the trouble of getting multiple copies of the set to review the 3 separate models AND assemble them all together!
Also my 7 yo son built his own baby dragon to go with the green one, and when I showed him the little red wyvern in the tower he was like "omg a baby dragon!!" It's hilarious the kinds of things kids latch onto and reminds me that lego is just as much fun today as it was when I was his age.
I bought all 3, and I'm quite happy with all of the builds, but I'm also a castle/village builder, not a city builder, so, I'm definitely going to rip them all apart and build my own moc out of them.
This looks awesome and i really appreciate how detailed and articulate you are in your reviews. Love your content and I'm so happy we have people like you that we can count on to show us what sets have to offer.
I love medieval, and thank GOD the Lion's Knight Castle has come, because these sets look extremely wonky, too colorful, and weirdly proportioned for a medieval castle
I love this set! I do dislike the fact that it isn’t as detailed as it should be! Ninety dollars for a discontinued set makes sense but because the aren’t bringing it back I feel like they should have went all out with it!
The set is great overall. The main issue for me is the minifigures. A set this large and expensive should have included maybe four of the black falcon figures instead of only two. Also, why the Pirate torso for the third minifigure? LEGO had several really good medieval villager torsos they used in the Fantasy and Kingdoms lines in the past, it would have been a nice touch to have brought one of them back for this set.
Nah this set should has less figures to make price even better. You can buy single minifigs easily online. I would just makea unique king minifig for it
What a superb set! Thanks Jang! I'll have to pick a trio of these up before they retire and make a nice big and complete custom castle. That Alchemist/Wizard tower is fantastic!
I just got this and built it today and absolutely love it. I’ve always loved Lego midevil sets but missed out on all of the good ones so I’m happy to finally have a good castle.
Hmm... I thought this is Jangbricks, not Shadiversity... So much MACHICOLATIONS! Also, jailcells are more than understandable, since knights and guards are as close as you can get to old man's version of police.
Funny because the baguette didn't exist in the Middle-Ages! ;) Otherwise great review, thanks! At first I was sure about getting 3 of this one but I'm not happy about all the extra pieces in the alternate builds... I can buy one full price but will try to get good deals on the other 2!!
I actually got 2 of these so I could do a castle-tower combo. After seeing them all together I want another one 😆. The one thing this set is really lacking is mini figs (and at least one horse, c'mon). The old castle sets would come with like 10 or 11 figs and some horses. Overall great build with lots of opportunity for play which is exactly what a set like this should be. 10 yo me would've been playing with this for hours upon hours.
Nice review, thanks. We are watching Merlin at the minute so I want to get at least one (probably two) and make a custom castle. I really like the dragon head gargoyles on the big tower.
I really love this set, all three builds are great and they look great combined. Also, it's probably the best creator set yet for customizations, building giant castles or medieval style buildigns. Also glad they're doing female knights, I just want more variety in the torso/leg pieces.
This is always my issue, budget for Star Wars and then great sets like this.
I know, I feel sad for having to wait until adulthood to be able to afford such things. It's a wonderful little castle, so I got mine as soon as they were available. No regrets, obviously.
Me too, I made room in my budget for this and last year's pirate ship. They are excellent modern takes on classic themes!
You should like this set if you like star wars, it has alot of gray in it.
There are 2 classic spacer sets already!
I just wish we could have gotten one horse with the set, it’s perfectly fine without it but would have fit rather nicely
That would work! Great idea! Just add a ticket booth and some tourists and you're good to go.
Or make it into the set for a film studio.
Best Creator set in years! Thank you Jang for going to the effort of building all three and combining them!
The Trebuchet can launch a projectile over 300 studs
I'm glad you reviewed this set. I'm leaning toward buying it. It brings me back to my childhood when I had the Black Monarch's Castle (6085). I'm a little embarassed to say that I want to build this and play with it!
Great review, Jang. A few things vs that I really appreciate about the set:

One thing I love about what this does, and the Creator line in general does, is encouraging modification and customization. I am biased though as I love classic castle and this set hits me in the nostalgia bones hard.
Looking at the tree in the alternate build my brain just automatically said: "yes, but where are the pink frogs?" Great review!
Honestly, I thought the same!
Jang: *say machicolations
Me: *gets shadiversity flashbacks
Ikr lol
Glad to hear that - LEGO castles have definitely been lacking in them until now!
As soon as he said it, I suddenly wanted Shad to review the castle for historical accuracy.
Costco has these for $75 each right now (if you can find them at your local Costco). At that price I'm really tempted to go ahead and buy 3.
My dad gave me an old castle set from when he was a kid- it's now time for me to get my own medieval castle. I love this.
Me, summoning Shadiversity at the top of my lungs: MACHICOLATIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS!
Ah, a person of culture
Wasn't expecting to find a Shad fan here
I was thinking of Shad and his video on machiculations when Jang mentioned them.
@@Tiishen been following the man for a while now. Love his breakdowns and takes on historical accuracy (as far as medieval Europe goes)
I just love the wyvern. Big enough to look awesome and small enough to not make the set too expensive or overshadow it.
Could be an unconscious reference made by the designers
I also thought about that. Good observation.
Yeah, I definitely agree it's a river on the side for the watermill, love how you point out that wyvern is actually a type of dragon! It's pretty cool that LEGO included machicolations on the battlements. I bought 2 sets to make a more wholesome castle while keeping the LEGO design language.

I personaly wish it had ONLY a king figure. It would be good enough and could be even cheaper.

12:50 that just genuinely made me smile, thank you Jang :)
It was really cool to watch Jangbricks build all 3 sets on UA-cam and twitch
I am impressed by the dragon, so small and yet so small, I would like to have just that dragon
Got this set for only 60 dollars at a bricks and minifigs. Only missing one figure and maybe 10 pieces, and I'm super happy with it.
It's beautiful, I love this set. Would've left out the dragon though and include a king, a queen, two more guards and maybe 3 attackers for some more play value. Because there are very, very little knight LEGO sets in the market right now.

Sets examples:
1. Castle,
2. Blacksmith,
3. Tavern/Inn,
4. Tailor Shop,
5. Town Center with Street Markers, tree and well, Stables.
6. Fishing Docks with a big and small Boat.
7. Windmill with Crops. villagers.
8. Farming Barn Animals. villagers.
9. A Bank or TAX collector with a Robin hood.
10. Bandit camp.
11. Cottage Home. $50-60 (I bet alot of people would by to make a big village or town.)
12. Small bridge with a watch tower.
13. A Dragon Cave with treasure and Skelton.
14. Wizard Tower or Shop.
15. Barber shop.
16. A adventure Guild.
Oh man there are actual machicolations, somebody call Shad!

Lego needs to bring back Medieval theme. I would drop out star wars theme and go-full on with this
I feel like this is a very nice castle design that focuses on what's needed vs what's not. What I mean by that is you do not have a lot of interior decorations but it does give you the size and depth for the price and let's you fill ij the details as you see fit rather than having the structure be shallow but many decortations and interior decor.
This is a fine example of LEGO perfectionism.
I cannot express how happy I am to have a review of this set in its entirety!
The female torso in the Medieval Blacksmisth set is from Pirates of Barracuda Bay also
Seems this is the closest we're going to get to a proper Castle line any time soon, and it'll look great next to the blacksmith set. Will definitely buy this one.
Actually, I think that you'll want to display this quite a ways away from the Blacksmith set. They have wildly different proportions.
This is a cute set for real, awww
I love the trebuchet!
I bought 2. Did the main build, did the tower build and took the left over pieces and made a smaller, modiffied windmill build, it worked pretty ok, there were still left over pieces, but all together things came out well. Happy building!
Two Sets are enough to Build a nice moc.
I love it!
As a kid the castle sets were always one of my favorites, especially the minifigures. I’d kill for an all castle/knight/medieval themed Collectible Minifigure Series.
Really a great job making them all fit together, especially for the fans that missed out on castle theme
It's a bit flimsy where it joins together and some of the water plates fall off. Needs more Minifigures otherwise fantastic
You can get it easily for 70$ online. For such ammount of bricks - is a steal.
This looks like a $100 set. The 3 part build looks like a $300 set. You get what you pay for in a good way.
I’m building this set right now, it’s impressing, great video :)
I will now always refer to licensed minifigures as "Fleshies". Thank you Jang. 13:59
Wait, when you showed the build at 26:17, was that made just by literally linking three sets together with no clever moc designing on your part? I'm impressed with how that looks as someone who can't seem to design anything that amazing!
No custom work or adaptation; it's just the three official build versions from three sets built per the instructions and then clipped together.
@@JANGsLEGOreviews Thanks so much for replying. Really useful info. Have been following you for ages and never disappointed.
Having non-alcoholic drinks would make sense when everyone has a family fire-breathing dragon to purify their drinking water.
Man. I love when you showcase all tree together.
3:10 Actually if you consider the marketplace is being sold right next to a jail cell with a rotting skeleton, it's not too unrealistic.
I remember my first lego set i got it was a medival build with a tower and a wagon with a prison and this brings back memories like when i tossed the wagon with the horse down the stairs on accident
I was 6 okey
Looking forward for this review and found it amazing. As always great job,f Jang!
This gives me vibes of the old Playmobil Lion's castle. Definitely a cop (the nostalgia is big)
I think they should have included more figures, especially for how big the set is.
Also my 7 yo son built his own baby dragon to go with the green one, and when I showed him the little red wyvern in the tower he was like "omg a baby dragon!!" It's hilarious the kinds of things kids latch onto and reminds me that lego is just as much fun today as it was when I was his age.
I appreciate your commitment to your channel, buying three 100$ sets just for us to view
I bought all 3, and I'm quite happy with all of the builds, but I'm also a castle/village builder, not a city builder, so, I'm definitely going to rip them all apart and build my own moc out of them.
Imagine if you just miss the target and hit the birds

This looks awesome and i really appreciate how detailed and articulate you are in your reviews. Love your content and I'm so happy we have people like you that we can count on to show us what sets have to offer.
I love medieval, and thank GOD the Lion's Knight Castle has come, because these sets look extremely wonky, too colorful, and weirdly proportioned for a medieval castle
I love this set! I do dislike the fact that it isn’t as detailed as it should be! Ninety dollars for a discontinued set makes sense but because the aren’t bringing it back I feel like they should have went all out with it!
Salt and pepper in a medieval food stand...yeah, right! 😁
This was just an excellent entertainment, as always 👍🏻🤩
I was waiting everyday for thus review :D already got my castle, gonna enjoy watching this :D
Excited to see a Castle review!
2 castle figures for 100e set?!! Come on Lego! Jang great review as always
I hope lego makes another kingdoms/ castle (the one with the medieval village) style theme
Nice review, thanks. We are watching Merlin at the minute so I want to get at least one (probably two) and make a custom castle. I really like the dragon head gargoyles on the big tower.
People probably thought green dragon was a more plausible idea than female knight
One of these has more representation in actual medieval art hahahaahhahah
I really love this set, all three builds are great and they look great combined. Also, it's probably the best creator set yet for customizations, building giant castles or medieval style buildigns.
Also glad they're doing female knights, I just want more variety in the torso/leg pieces.
This is a beautiful set omg
