My family has cleaned auwai in our valley for decades. The community is supposed to be responsible for cleaning up the auwai near or at their property line. If they don’t, no matter what they do, rotting debris will continue getting stuck. It doesn’t help that people are still dumping mattresses, car parts, rubbish bags and camping trash directly into the streams. It does take a village….of kokua, not complaints.
Thank you for your public service.
Please put barriers to catch the litter that comes down from the stream
The debris will then continue to get trapped. I know. My family has cleaned upper auwai in another valley for decades, trust me. The community has to clean their own and quit dumping.
So keeping trash out of the ocean is now a bad thing?? Maybe someone should talk to the people who claim to love the land so much to stop trashing up the stream
Lots of homeless locals up in the hills dumping their trash, They still will but now it will just flow into the ocean.
I think this canal runs sideways through nanakuli if I'm not mistaken through all the ghetto areas like auyong and helelua
Please read my comments about rubbish management above in this thread. Thanks you.
What strides were made? They open the canal all the time. Why are there more homeless on certain parts of the island than others?
wow super detailed here eh
They always removed it ??…. Only past year or so they never ! That’s why it’s this way
Houseless is better than homeless?
Remove the plug and let the trash go into the ocean? Clean up the bad habits first.
All along past history, trash was cleared by residents living along the water. I know because my family cleaned up streams for decades in our valley. Now, residents expect the city to deal with it and I get that. But at the very least, dumping of these mattresses, car parts, tents, clippings and cuttings, and kitchen garbage, old clothes, bicycles, and all assortments of human debris, have to stop.
Home break. They always cleaning, draining and plugging it all my life im 38
Bra I live here my hoo life no Current coming out of the canal they use to open and close it all the time they haven't in about a year that's lazy state workers
It’s water management. Born and lived here for over 70 years and my family has been involved with upstream clean ups for decades. The community along the water used to manage the rubbish but now they sit and complain. I get that the government should be involved in clean ups too but when they find things like mattresses, bicycle parts, tents, kitchen garbage, old clothes, car parts, and all kine human debris, it tells a lot about the community along the water, because they have access to the streams on their property. If you cannot help the problem, at least don’t exacerbate it by dumping. Water is such a precious commodity and we’re awfully lucky to get mountain water running down to the ocean. But it has to be managed or back ups and rotting stuff is going to continue to plague all of us who want to keep clean water, free flowing.
@@charly3575 no mountain water here I grew up hakimo rd kanahale st I used to swim at the end of the river we're it's all mud no concrete walls back in the 80s when it was clean but at ule, awas at da front of the river always been dirty until the city like come clean um haft ass
Is calling them "houseless" somehow making the problem smaller? WTF!
That's part of the leftist mindset. Can't hurt their feelings.
Oahu is trash. born and raised on the island, and I can say that it's some hard times nowdays. even if u got a good job, the struggle is real!! 💯
Use genki balls like in the ala wai
It’s not about purifying the water it’s about cleaning debris. Large debris. People have to quit treating the upstream like a garbage dump. They find car parts, mattresses, bicycles, food waste, grass and tree cuttings, tents, all kine human opala, and that has to stop first. Genki balls don’t dissolve huge, inorganic items like plastics, glass, and other human debris.
Genki ball don't work on microwaves and mattresses etc. Disgusting people use dump any junk in there it's horrible.
O yeah lets jus let that water go into the ocean all money no brains smh
Houseless community? No, it's Homeless. Switching the name around doesn't change the reality.
Call it what it is, homeless.
"Bad Actors", i.e., homeless.
Bot. Dumb bot. Ro bot.
Best thing to do about rubbish is to GET VACCINATED
