      Thanks Fishin Money, and it was fun. It's hard to make videos to showcase my fun, but any time spend out there is great.

    I am a spearo and fly fisher here in Vegas and so I get to visually see carp behavior, you would definitely need a sink tip and maybe even a full sink line but make sure its a heavy rod because they will take you for a ride. Absolute joy to catch/shoot because they can fight so hard. Carp maybe be difficult as they are grass feeders and with fly fishing you are mimicking a protein source like larvae, insects, frogs, etc. Great video and love to see desert fly fishing!

      Thanks Weston Prince. I like the challenge, but I think I might need to get some better gear for this first. Any spots you can recommend me to try?

      Hey Wesley, sure thing. I will try to do some more bass videos, but just remember I am no pro. I am still trying to figure out how to get the fish myself. So it will be trial and error...

    The water levels pretty low out there? Curious to try Mead on day but don’t know if it’s worth the trip if it’s nasty low. Awesome video!

      Hey Kutthroat Outdoors. The spot in this video stays the same, but yes, Mead is pretty low right now. It is hard to find good spots and the fish seem to move around a lot. This is however, not new. It happens each year, just more so this year. But September and October is a good time to fish Lake Mead. Loads of bait-fish and striper boils.

      @@FinallyFishing awesome! Thanks for the info. Fall seems like a great time to avoid the nasty heat as well.

    Hi Vernon,
    Its Renee, again. Is this the spot where there are two trails to the water. On is a long, trail, about 3/4 mile to the water. The other one is a really steep (but shorter) trail that leads to the water, with a water fall right at the bottom of the trail? Thanks Vernon!

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  3 роки тому

      Hi Renee. That's indeed the spot. I prefer the longer trail as it leads to some deeper holes.

    Craig from Bass Pro fly shop: for carp try using a ‘Stone Fly or a Muddler minor with thicker leader like 2 or 1x. Good work!

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  3 роки тому

      Thanks Craig, a stone fly sounds great. Definitely need to swing by the store for some new flies.

    I saw one an old video you snagged a small pleco and you said it didn't count as your first.
    Was this pleco your first?
    Nice vid btw

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Fishing with Logi. Yes this was my first official pleco catch. In my books a snagged fish does not count. Netted fish also don't count. For me at least , people are welcome to differ from my opinion but prefer hooked in the mouth.

    What is that thing,where did it come from

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  3 роки тому +1

      If you are referring to me than it's Pretoria, South Africa. 😀 That is a common pleco. Sold as pets for aquariums. Sadly it seems people have "set them free". They have no predators in these waters and out compete local fish for food.

    Lots of foam floating by on the river. Do you know if it is caused by nutrients or perhaps pollution? It doesn’t look natural. Good luck with the fly fishing over there. You do have some experience with trout fly fishing but I agree that carb fly fishing is more of a challenge.

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  3 роки тому

      I think it's both Joe. This creek does contain chemically treated recycled water and urban run-off. But loads of algae grow here because of all the nutrients in the water.

    Oh hallo, Pleco... beautiful fish but they do become pests. Beautiful, bright scenes around the water.

    Vernon,
    How do you find "deep holes", especially if I am new to a fishing spot?

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  3 роки тому +1

      To be honest Renee, I don't know if my answer is correct but it does help me. For starters, any where the water seems to flow slower is normally deeper. Below water-falls there will often be pools as a result of the falling water. Any bend in a creek or river will also make pools. Big rocks can also dig holes behind them if the current is strong enough. The best is to walk around and just see if you can still see the bottom of the river bed. Hope that helps.

    Hard time believing PLECO took a fly? Snag it?

    • @FinallyFishing
      @FinallyFishing  3 роки тому

      I get that you're sceptic, but I was just as shocked to see a pleco on the line. I tried some nymphs' but no, I cot this fish on a brown streamer. I have snagged plecos before, but this truly is my first legit catch of one.
