This POOR woman gets every single interviewer asking her this...got to admire her patience
She should be glad she can give Gaelic some publicity
@@kkech1 Great perspective
Indeed! 😉💯
Stupid talk shows
She does not have to it is her own choice
Love how humble she is, so talented and young, love her
Indeed!
Proud that my names Caoimhe
Beautiful name!😊❤
At least you aren't a cheesy Caoimhe...
I HAVE THE ANGLICIZED AMERICAN VERSION AND IT'S SO SAD I WANT TO MAKE PEOPLE CONFUSED EVEN MORE BRUH
I'm caoimhe too and I feel like I was the only one called that I'm glad I found this comment and that you are proud of it
@illegal.goose426 wait what do you mean. what's your version
Tsonga (South African language) we pronounce X as "Sh" and Vh as "B" so Xhiluva would be "Sheeluba". It means "Flower" 😂 language is crazy
Beautiful language! 🥰 Share some interesting names from Tsonga? 🥰
Hmm let me see... "Sweswi" is pronounced with a whistle, something like "whistle-swi" lol I hope that makes sense. "SWE" is a whistle sound @@IgniteBuzz
@IgniteBuzz my sister's name is Tintswalo which means mercy or grace. She's been called Tin swallow😂 that one killed me 😂😂😂😂
Your Name ❤
Your Irish accent ❤
Beautiful right?!
When it suits her to use it. Have you ever heard her American accent?? She's so fake.
You could say the same about Scotland, Wales, Spanish, Portuguese, French, or a dozen other languages!
Non-english speaking countries could say the same thing to English 😉👌
I went to school with at least one of each of these, I can understand why people would have difficulty with them, the pronunciation rules are completely different in Irish. Letter combinations and all that.
Those are beautiful names! 🥰
What Americans need to
learn that the names are
pronounced in Irish Gaelic
NOT English(!) ☘️
Exactly! They can pronounce Seán and Séamus perfectly fine. So they should be able to manage other Irish names.
So, if you combine the Sio from Siobhan and the Imhe from Caoimhe, that's actually pronounced Jill.
Because she's the Dominant of Sioimhe (Shiva) in Final Fantasy XVI.
Interesting! Beautiful language 🇮🇪
@IgniteBuzz And an amazing game to boot. In VII Rebirth, the side quests got super repetitive super quick. In XVI, Every. Single. Side. Quest. Contributes greatly to the world building and some of them actually trigger emotional reactions on par with the main story.
Soooooooooo adorable 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹☝️😁
Sounds good as well
I love the names Máiréad and Orla 🤗💖🇮🇪☘️💚
What are are the meaning of those names?
@@IgniteBuzz Orla means “Golden Princess”. I don’t know about Máiréad.
@@eoinoconnor5783 beautiful names! We love it 🥰😍
My Name is Irish Keaira 😊😊😊
Beautiful name! 🥰👌
Love all the names
Beautiful right?!🥰😍
Me and my sister both have Irish names saoirse-me- and Shonagh-my sister-
You and your sister both have beautiful names! 🥰
That interviewer is so rude
Colbert demonstrates ignorance very professionally.
Adore the Irish girl names from the spelling to the pronunciations.
Try Siofra, Beibhin, Gobnait, and Daithi. Then throw Aoibheann into the mix along with Fiadh, Sadhbh, Cadhla and Blaithin. Let's see how she'd get on with those.
Tell me more?! What are the meaning of these names?
@IgniteBuzz Siofra means elf, Beibhinn is fair lady. Gobnait is the Irish for Deborah and Daithi the Irish for David. Beibhinn is Irish for radiant beauty, Blaithin is little flower (blathanna ard flowers), Cadhla for a girl is beautiful, for a man handsome.
Siofra is pronounced Shefra.
Beibhinn is pronounced Bevin.
Gobnait is Gubnet.
Daithi is Dawhe.
Aoibheann is Aveen.
Cadhla is Cala.
And Blaithin is Blawheen.
I forgot Fiadh, it means dear, or wildness
❤💞💋💋
🥰
You have to love Saoirse
Gasteizgotxeaskoa. Try this 😊
Do you guess which lenguage is that?
As a Niamh, I have gotten:
- Nee am ha
- Neem
- Niam
- Nivea (someone who said ‘Oh yes, this one is Irish, I know this one!’)
- Naive
- Nix
❤
Its actually 'Saoirse don Phalaistín' in full.
Its cuz they didnt know how to read and write and talk Englisch
From the fool that spelt English wrong u fucking dope lol
@@seanlinnane8311 u got me wasnt me autokorrecktur german hdy cellphone in english haha
I nearly peed hahahahaha..@seanlinnane8311
I love the name Caoimhe,
although, it's not my name. ☺️
That's my name 😊
If Americans are able to pronounce Seán and Séamus, then what is the problem with other Irish names?
Those names at least make some kind of phonetic sense... for caoimhe to be pronounced "queeva" does not, neither does tadhg as "tyge" nor does niamh as "neeve"
@@jackmehoff2503 It’s another language. Other languages are just like it.
🇪🇸: ll=y, j=h, v=b
🇩🇪: w=v
🇬🇧: ph=f
Irish doesn’t follow English rules and there’s only 18 letters in the alphabet.
@@eoinoconnor5783 thank you for making my point. It's not anything like the American English language, so not sure how you can complain that we don't get how to pronounce their names
@@jackmehoff2503 Well of course Americans won’t be familiar with the majority of names from other cultures, but saying they make no sense because you don’t know the language is disrespectful.
It’s one thing to not know how to say it and ask for the pronunciation. It’s another to deliberately pronounce it wrong, not bother to learn and make fun of it as most of these fools do. People should at least familiarize themselves with foreign names if interacting with people.
@@eoinoconnor5783 disrespectful? It's just a fact. It's like saying we can't read Chinese, because it's not something we're familiar with as it relates to our lexicon. You're being overly sensitive
Omg this C. Is sooo unfriendly 😒 🤮
Irish girl here! Have fun figuring out mine: meabh
Maeve! That’s my daughters name with the English spelling ❤️
Siobhan makes it easier to guess. 😂
The only name the called ridiculous is the one related to God 💁🏻♀️
They're not hard to pronounce they are just spelled stupidly. If you're gonna use the latin alphabet, use it correctly.
But, I must admit, Gaelic sounds beautiful.
They’re spelled exactly how they’re supposed to be for the language.
@@eoinoconnor5783 i agree
It is correct for its language.
@@eoinoconnor5783 Then apparently it's supposed to be shitty.
